I’d spray with high fill primer and put the time into sanding that compensator before you paint, BME.
Flat paint will help with the 3D satin finish but won’t completely hide the print lines.
Trust me, it’s worth the effort.

First things first…I’ll see if xforce north lakes have any.
Then i’ll see if it attaches to the DB, in an aesthetic way.
Proper look would be having a rail underneath, but ill worry about that later…
Thanks for the heads up, re the chrome paint.
Its drying slowly, but looks like it should be acceptable.
All i did was wash with soapy water, rinse, dry, then paint. Hopefully that will be enough.
I might go for 2 coats, another 2morrow arvo. The slide is not in contact with the barrel ( except the very rear near the nozzle), but 2 coats should give it some depth.
Hopefully it will all pan out…!!
Cheapo, poor mans barry burton clone(ish)
I wonder, could anyone 3-d print the gen2 moderator / mag extender…??
The one I have on my SKD Beretta has “SKD” in a deep print on the other to what is in the picture. You might need some nylon filler to smooth it out (used for plastic bumper bar repairs)
Do you have any other M92’s?
Would it fit another brand?
Held on just by one grubscrew.?
Docbob has been awol for awhile. Tried ring, fyi hope he’s all right
Yeah, me too…fingers crossed he’s just lost interest in a hobby he can’t really paticipate in.
Tested the hop-up from the SKD on the Wells and KWC
This is the hop up on the SKD
Tested fit on these
Size is close to the other M9’s
But the barrel hole of the hop up is offset from the centre of the barrel on the blaster. Used a 7.5mm drill bit to align barrel centres. Hole on hop-up is only 12.5mm
Thanks for the reply, i appreciate the effort.
I spoke to xforce NL, none in stock.
They’ll bring some in, from Mbrook, they should be available wed morning.
By then , my barrel will be dry, reassembled, and i can go in and have a play.
Also, look at other hopups, but this will be the best fit, i reckon.
I dont need the hop up to work, i can drill it out larger, its all about the aesthetics.
The Kele M92 has a mag extender, i’ll see if thats removable…
Hopefully tac-edge might be able to do something, to bring a real gen 2 in…
Probably have to dremel it our as the hole is off-centre
Bugger.
Barrel dried, went to reassemble it, a bit of jiggery-pokey….scratches on the barrel.
It’s soft paint, not much to mark it.
Gave it a touch up coat, but had some oil on my hands handling it, so it’s now spotty / marked.
So, let it dry, thinners, strip the lot, wash, dry, rinse and repeat…
Oh well, it’s all practise…
The barrel did look ok in the blaster, but not quite as good as the real deal…
Can you sand it right down to the metal and then polish with 1500/2000/3000 wet and dry?
That sounds like a bit too much prep, for what will ultimately be a (slightly) sub optimal finish.
I washed the black barrel down with soapy water initially, and dried.
First couple of coats went on well, dried to a good standard of finish, no blemishes.
After I handled the barrel, getting it in and out (bit of oil contact), I tried to get away with giving it a good wiping down, before recoating… Silly me.
The paint showed up all the blemishes. I’m planning on using a rag and thinners, to strip the chrome off, back to the original black. It should come off fairly easily, as it’s a soft paint / thin layer. Then wash, dry, start from scratch.
I know how to get it in / out now, with barely any contact…
Fingers crossed…
100’s in SA doing anodizing and chroming as the street car business is big down here with our more relaxed legalities. I got a picture frame anodized the other week, just because it looks cool.
Its past touch dry now, so in it goes for a looksee…
I’ll see how it looks 2morrow, fully dry under natural light.
Even put a few mags through it, and see the where the wear marks are.
Now its in the slide, and mostly covered, not too many marks are visible.
All in all, not too bad. The grips really make it, giving it that timber look.
Mind you though, all black does look pretty mean as well.
I’m a bit undecided…what do you guys reckon.?.?
If S.T.A.R.S stands for Special Tactics And Rescue Service…
TAURUS stands for…
T rumps
A wful
U sually
R epugnant
U S
S upporters
…!!!
Or…
T rumps
A bsolutely
U seless
R ecently
U nemployed
S ecret service Director …!!!
I’ll stop now, i promise…!!
Back to Black.
The chrome finish, just didn’t quite cut it for me.
It had that “not quite real, toy-ish sheen” to it…
And scratched up a bit, with use.
So, a bit of turps, and the chrome came off very easily (soft paint).
Good clean up with soapy water, clean the barrel while i’m at it, leafblower, hairdryer, all good as new.
The all black is growing on me.
Its had two coats of semi gloss on the grips, so i gave it a fair hit of armor all, to revive the grip that was damaged by the thinners i had previously used.
It did a pretty good job, of improving the grips.
All in all, you cant get the RE blasters anymore, and this is not a bad approximation, for a set of grips.
They sell for $15US, so others may try their luck importing them.
They are all plastic, not wood, so wouldn’t be used as real grips, on real steel.
I’ll see how i go , with the hop up, i have a rail which is the right size and shape, which could fit underneath…
Speaking of RE, barry burton also had the Silver Serpent…
WAT have a kings arms revolver, which looks pretty similar…
Take off the top rail, and it looks pretty similar. They also make a longer barrel version, as well. Or, leave the top rail on, and go nuts…
WAT says what they have now is low fps, poor seals, but they are getting parts in , in a few months to sort it…
Ok, spoke to tacedge about a ‘private burton import’,
Looks like they are planning to do a run of those, hopefully early next year.
I just hope 1) it really happens, and 2) They bring in the gen 2 burton , with the tricker moderator…
GEN 1:
GEN 2:
Gen 1 was what I had in the states.
Gen 2 has: Better grips, Cooler Moderator, different emblem badge, raised rear sights, and full auto / semi capability.
Lets play the waiting game again…
If all else fails, it might be easier to get a cat H license, get a real beretta, and get it modified…!!
These guys have done it…!!
