Somehow I think your gearbox would be less likely to implode… stock WRX gearboxes are notoriously glass-like.

Yeah, sometimes the older models are better.
With the Subies, the Hawkeyes are generally regarded as the best of them… after that model they just got porky and slow. 
Interestingly, the car yard next door had a 2020 vw gti, just like mine…
It only had 42 000 kms, looked brand new…nicer interior and better classic leather (new leather colour scheme is multi coloured vomit spawn). …and was $34 000.
MUCH better value for money….for a near new car…

I bought a '98 2litre V6 Mazda Astina in 2005, so 7 years old… paid $7500 for it. When I checked the glovebox it had the original new purchase receipts… $43,000!
