Pull apart of shell and gearbox, and upgrade time…
Lots of little idiosyncraticies pulling the tommy apart, and getting it back together.
A few takeaways…
_ you need to gently lever the shells apart with a flat screwdriver. Gently.
There are 2 screws ON TOP of the blaster, that hold the upper reciever onto the lower.
Auto / safe toggle levers, need to be screwed back on tightly, for function to work.
( i had some trigger issues, of a slipping trigger / non firing, that were fixed by tightening the single/auto and safe /fire selectors on tightly)
the stock Oring was pathetically loose. Like XXXXXL supersized. i never fired it stock, but wouldnt have been surprised if it didnt work at all…
Having said all that, a 110 spring, and new oring was all that was required.
Gearbox had plenty of grease, and didnt need shimming.
Great work guys, and great results to match!
Sounds like a bit of a fiddly job, so would be praying to see some improvements after getting elbows deep in such a lengthy task
anyone with the ihobby Thompson experience double feeds on single fire? was using strawberry milkshakes and armour tech yellows, both firing two gels on single fire mode
weird, the strawberries were fresh brewed last night for 4 hours and strained well and stored in an airtight container for approximately 7 hours before use…
Check your tappet return spring, maybe try a slightly stronger one. Also check that the tappet plate has free movement and not binding.
A few years back someone came up with a fix for double feeding issues which involved using a drill bit to put a small detent into the t piece at the top directly above the feed tube. Use a bit the same diameter as the feed tube and create a detent a millimeter or so into the plastic.
It seemed to work for some blasters but not all. It stops the fed gel from shifting sideways in the t piece and creating room for another one.
I’ve also had a bit of success stopping double feeding by glueing an insert into the t piece feed tube to reduce the amount of available space.
Common problem with the smaller gels we’re getting these days. Often I’ll use only LDT Heavy Milkies in a blaster because of their larger developed size, usually solves it.
