found this on my perusing
uses a sabot style insert but imagine the glow gels in a CQB field
they also got a new set if gears that have the bevel and pinion gears angled among other things.

Not cheap, $55-$60 depending on the exchange rate at time of ordering and other discounts, shipping blah blah… there are some sellers on aliexpress with legit SHS gears for $25, I normally keep 1-2 sets of each ratio, if I know I am using one I just order more.
But I am curious, see if it really decreases the bevel to pinion whine, or just makes it a bastard to shim… Both I suspect! The "delayed: tappet post they say is better for higher RPS, I don’t think it will help tbh, but I will test em out, due to service/rebuild one of my workhorses that has 30rps, so will be a good test
100mm mega gels that shoot over 50 metres
Those are more like 40-50mm, you’d need a good bit of wading to stop those from shattering straight off the bat, unless they’ve started using the hardened mixture.
Biggest problem with helical cut gears is the introduction of an extra dimension of forces put upon the motor shaft and bevel gear.
The motor pinion will try to drive itself into the bevel gear, pulling hard on the motor shaft itself, and at the same time try to pull the bevel gear downward into the pinion gear/shaft at the same time.
The biggest PIA is the amount of end float found in Electric Motors, which we are all well aware of for sure!
On throttle the pinion shaft gets pulled into the bevel, and off throttle is pushed away to the other extreme.
Unless the motor is tightly shimmed to limit the float, pinion/bevel mesh is pretty much all over the shop and produces more stresses on the bushings… probably why the original Gelbaster designers decided on the straight cut gears in the first place.
Looking forward to seeing how you go with these mate, and looking forward to another video on your channel showing the results with these gears.
As for the “delayed tappet timing”, I’m pretty sure that they are just Airsoft gears being marketed that way for Gelblaster use, but you will definitely figure it out for sure.
Also interesting to see that they have removed the trailing tooth on the Sector Gear instead of the normal removal from the piston rack instead.
just a quick one for @exakel …
You should have a look at ordering some of these lighters.
Quite cheap, smaller scale so appearance laws shouldn’t be an issue.
Quite a range, too…
There it is again. Sorry can’t help myself with my dead mate, lock the International Scout in low range and go dune stomping. International Harvester Scout straight out of Illinois Detroit. He was a funny fkr. Fun times. Still go visit his grave now and again.
Wrrr rr here we go straight cut gears Good memories
Now he was a hoon
Some awesome information there Doc!
Yes, they will be a prick to get right, I like a challenge!
Shimming motors is pretty simple, done that and the “Frankentorque” thing loads of times.
I suspect it will be something I need to run, open and check a few times, so will be trying it on something easy to pull apart.
It’s kind of annoying that they have removed part of that tooth, it won’t help with an over correct aoe setup, it just makes it no good for short stroking one tooth, it needs at least two.
Happy to give em a run and be the rest mule.
Yeah, it’s a pity you can’t get tapered roller bearings for it…
Wow, now that would be the Swiss watch of gel blasters.
Out of curiosity, has anyone tried these mythical gels?
saw this EMG M1919 WWII American Automatic Squad Support Weapon Airsoft AEG (Package: Gun - Airsoft Tiger111hk - Welcome - English .
One can only imagine how much the gel ball version will be
If that grenade launcher, fires single gels , one at a time…
i will fall over laughing…!!!
I’d take the MG-42, over the grenade launcher…
That Colt XM177 got me, only because of the very long history of people here going to great lengths to try and build a faithful replica… and now here they are available straight outta the box!
The timber on that Garand is chefs’ kiss
This guy’s a bit of a dick, C7Viper… does airsoft reviews. But if you shuffle forward to 3:20 he unboxes a beautiful full wood and metal M1 Garand… and it’s an AEG. even has fire select modes, which is all kinds of wrong.
I’d buy the gel version of that…
If I were a rich man,
yabba dibba dibba dibba dibba dibba dibba dum
I imagine it will be like a 40maxx inside a case for the shells, not dissimilar to the Carl Gustaf launcher I made a while back that could shoot those small nerf footballs.
Only one that peaks my interest is the M1 and M14, maybe the Spear just for something modern and different.
But it all comes down to that $$$.
I figured it would use 40mm grenades.
I was just joking…
Imagine if, spending all the money, and getting something that size…
And it just shoots 1 gel, at a time…!!
An elephant gun, that shoots a pea…!!
Oh yeah I gathered that.
Could be like some of those Airsoft shells that fire 1 bb at a time… Just really really fast one after the other😂
