Ain't life Garand...( or Wooden you know it...)

Hmmm.

Now you have me thinking…

I wonder, if this wood kit , would fit, a SA58.?.?

The basic body shape is there, you’d just need to fettle it…and make up your own barrel extension.

Hopefully shouldn’t be too hard, given its just a simple plain barrel…

Which kit though, and what’s the difference…apart from price.?.?

" I wonder which wood kit, would fit, should fit, like a wood kit should, if a wood kit would fit wood!!"

Say that 3 times quickly, and it gets through customs like magic…!!

Install video…

Out of stock , above…

Yikes…!!

Hero airsoft have em…at Exxy canada prices…plus $$ delivery…

When i ordered my pulse rifle cap covers from them…their “standard price” was CAN $100 for shipping worldwide…

$515 CAN…yikes…!!
For a kit, that may not fit…

Somebody else has already done a part hybrid, so…

Maybe the kit will fit…

Yes, I know the conversion kits are out there (just as the black walnut upgrades are for the Umarex/DB Winchester 1894), but as nice as the ARES black plastic stocked British L1A1 version looks, for the Aussie market the timber stocked would be the way to go.

The British L1A1 were originally timber stocked too btw.

Hmmm…okay.
Got me thinking…

Would the wood kit, fit onto my blaster??

With the above wood kit, its designed to fit onto a longer blaster.
Stock should be ok, as also pistol grip…but fore-end is the problem.
And also carry handle ( missing a slot for the carry handle).

Could the kit / blaster be modified, to make it work.??

It would need a longer barrel, and outer barrel.
The gas rod could be cut and lengthened to have it align in the correct place.
How hard, to cut a slot in , for a carry handle.?.?

You can see here, the nylon fore-end is shorter than the receiver body.

The wood kit, the fore-end is roughly the length of the receiver…

Worth thinking about it, or just walk away…??

No guts no twenty characters glory, Beemer. :person_shrugging:

Put that dremel to work.

In answer to your question… yes, it could be done and yes, it would be worth it. Anything’s possible.

What about correctly lengthening the rod, to get in the correct new place…?
Need access to a welder…

Do you think the project would be doable.?

No… you don’t.

Sleeve it and use epoxy. :+1:

It’s all under the furniture, you wouldn’t see it.

BTW, I’d never recommend welding anything made out of the Chinesium these hunks of recycled woks and plastic are made of.

what about a longer outer barrel.?

any donor types, that spring to mind…??

With my recent luck with ABF, they’ll take one look and say…

“That’s airsoft grade wood…
…Airsoft…
… Banned!!!”

Plenty on ebay… you buy one the length you need and make it work.

Welcome to the world of bespoke custom gel blasters. You use your imagination and whatever you can find. Rarely are there off-the-shelf solutions. :person_shrugging:

Dammit, your making me get one step closer, to clicking “order now”…!!

what about carving in the (deep) slot , for the carry handle.?

Dremel and file for that… and before you ask… no :joy:

Much too busy getting my Gilmour chops up these days. :metal:

Also… do i really want one.??

They are a VERY LONG rifle…

a 500mm inner barrel may be too short…!!

Lots of people want one, so…

The AK J11 I have is a long boy too. Still shoots well. Barrels up to 55cm are available down at your mate’s place.

55 cm X-Force Aluminium Inner Barrel 9.5 mm OD 7.5 mm ID | X-Force Tactical 55 cm X-Force Aluminium Inner Barrel 9.5 mm OD 7.5 mm ID | X-Force Tactical

Maybe do it, and sell it…

$3499…still cheaper than a M1919…!!!

i suppose thats the only way you would get one now.

I doubt the hybrids would turn up, on the 2nd hand market…

I do remember the tacedge preorders with these.

I looked at the longer ones, with a carry handle…

Figured that shorter and lighter, would be the way to go…

That one you linked from UAVME is the TAIDI Model that I was chasing.
It’s marked “out of stock” because TAIDI was never able to fill the orders on these.
Quite surprised that they are still up on the website, it’s been many years!

You have the base for a perfect build there mate, don’t listen to @Friendly_Fire , he just knows what’s coming… :joy::joy::joy:

Surely do…

It’s a shame the SA58 receiver’s got a top pic rail, It was one of the gripes about the FAL hybrid that TAIDI were selling too. But that’s a small trade-off, and beggars can’t be choosers.

Hmmm

Wooden furniture should be fine through customs…but…

Would paypal cover it, if it was nabbed by ABF.?.?

Not the standard “never sent” fraud they deal with…

But still…money paid, no goods received…??

You guys are a bad influence on me…!!

And here i was, exercising restaint, not getting a M1919…!!

Has anyone ever, had a full wood model, here in Aust.?.?
Did any ever get made / sold.??
Or just died in preorder stage?
