Yes, I know the conversion kits are out there (just as the black walnut upgrades are for the Umarex/DB Winchester 1894), but as nice as the ARES black plastic stocked British L1A1 version looks, for the Aussie market the timber stocked would be the way to go.
The British L1A1 were originally timber stocked too btw.
With the above wood kit, its designed to fit onto a longer blaster.
Stock should be ok, as also pistol grip…but fore-end is the problem.
And also carry handle ( missing a slot for the carry handle).
Could the kit / blaster be modified, to make it work.??
It would need a longer barrel, and outer barrel.
The gas rod could be cut and lengthened to have it align in the correct place.
How hard, to cut a slot in , for a carry handle.?.?
That one you linked from UAVME is the TAIDI Model that I was chasing.
It’s marked “out of stock” because TAIDI was never able to fill the orders on these.
Quite surprised that they are still up on the website, it’s been many years!
You have the base for a perfect build there mate, don’t listen to @Friendly_Fire , he just knows what’s coming…
It’s a shame the SA58 receiver’s got a top pic rail, It was one of the gripes about the FAL hybrid that TAIDI were selling too. But that’s a small trade-off, and beggars can’t be choosers.
