I have been looking for a good midrange sniper rifle style gel blaster. My main focus is power and quality, but a nice look would be good. I am hoping to get something under $350 US because I don’t have a lot of money as a teenager. I reside in the US so something that can ship there is needed. I will look at all suggestions and hopefully find something.
If you find one let us know, “sniper” rifles aren’t really a thing in the gel scene cause there’s practically no benefit over a standard AEG that’s been tuned properly.
They definitely exist but are mainly for novelty. The issues are with the gels behaviour in flight, they’re unpredictable and almost never go where you want or expect.
“Accuracy by volume” is the gel moto.
If you are buying a sniper rifle for gel, the only right reasons are for novelty, plinking at home, and getting frustrated by being outgunned by everyone at a field.
I like my Senyu M24… Bolt action, shoots around 300FPS, a lot of fun in the backyard.
Totally useless for skirmishing, but cool nonetheless.
Your best option is probably a DMR styled AEG blaster. Then you get the cool almost-sniper factor covered and with fire select and a magazine it’ll be practical in gameplay.
@KickingMustang might make Sniper Rifle’s look the bomb in the Airsoft world, but when it comes to Gelbasters…the DMR is King!
Unfortunately this is just a stripped out shell, as anyone with a keen eye can tell, due to WA laws has no gearbox/inner barrel/wiring etc, but still looking pretty hardcore as a replica firearm display piece
yeah, I kinda figured
Me likey that DMR… me likey very much.
Could fit a stripped out gearbox shell with just the trigger in it just to complete the look, Doc?
Yes, I have a full metal accessories kit for it, and will find a suitable gearbox shell to fit the metal trigger to finish it off
Everything up front is already full metal, so the metal accessory kit should add that final weight and finish to it
I just realised that me saying that I just happened to have a full metal upgrade Kit for the ACR is something simple that’s most likely unavailable these days as an aftermarket accessory for such old model blasters
Pretty much the bulk of my massive “spare parts” collection is made up of the same old skool stuff…,…too old to be found available aftermarket these days as have not been manufactured for quite some time now, but priceless if required to keep a classic old blaster up and running!
The old blasters themselves are difficult to source…
The parts for them are even harder to find. Some new blasters are impossible to buy spare parts for.
My biggest gripe with this hobby is the habit retailers and by that I mean all retailers have of bringing in gear with no spare parts support for products that by design have a very finite lifespan…
“Oh you want spare parts for the blaster you purchased new six months ago? Sorry, can’t help you, we only stock mags.”
Got told just that by X-Force when I was chasing a spring retainer for a KELe G17 springer recently. Can’t get a simple plastic injection moulded part so the thing’s unusable.
How many times have I been told that? I partly blame China for not making spare parts available but I mostly blame the retailers for not guaranteeing a solid line of supply for some of the most basic parts that are likely to break or wear. I guess it comes down to China’s disposible attitude to everything… make it cheap so if it breaks you throw it away and just buy another.
That business model shouldn’t be something our Aussie retailers adopt but in this hobby, sadly, nearly all of them have.
Rant over.
It has always been a problem with this hobby.
It was awful working for a retailer, having a blaster come back under warranty only to find a part has failed that only is available in that blaster. The first one usually just had to swap the blaster and then the dead stock becomes spare parts.
Unfortunately, that part would be the failure point on all the blasters… And spare wouldn’t come for 3-6 months, once the part is identified as a common failure point.
I also, blame the disposable nature of modern age. Which is unacceptable on higher end more expensive blasters.
The industry also has a “paid beta testing” policy. Which frankly shits me. It’s also led me to develop my “six month rule”.
I generally will not buy a new thing, until it has been out for six months and I have seen what breaks on them. Notice how I didn’t say if it breaks!
There is a caveat on every blaster.
I don’t put the blame on the retailer’s at all, as it is the manufacturers who are responsible for producing any spare parts to begin with.
Retailers can only sell what they are provided by the manufacturer, and if all that’s available is only a single fully assembled blaster to sell…then that’s all they got
If the manufacturers don’t make extra runs on individual small parts for after sales spares availablity, then there’s nothing that a retailer can provide for their customers other than the raiding of parts from other complete blasters as mentioned above.
Again another reason why I always purchased at least two of every new model blaster, and yet would only use one and keep the other/others brand new untouched in the box.
This provided at least a few years worth of parts to keep at least one blaster running by having the others simply as spare parts.
I do believe that the suppliers DO have some blame, simply because they have had plenty of years to lobby the manufacturers to demand that they expect a decent amount of production to be set aside for the spare parts industry for their products being sold.
But also as was mentioned, this could hurt future sales if people weren’t having to constantly buy new blasters because the old ones can no longer be repaired
Hence my love for the old JinMing and SKD/STD Blasters with have a never-ending supply of parts and accessories worldwide compared to the more modern proprietary type Blasters
