Cases for rifles

Just wondering if folks with the cqb style rifles have used hard cases from like bunnings before to comply with the out of veiw rules as im looking at something like this for a slr and prehaps a aug a3

Looks like a case that could work if that is the way you want to go. The law in Queensland says stored and transported in a lockable container… doesn’t say it needs to be a locked container. I usually do just to be on the safe side though. Well

I have always used gun bags. When I go to a game there is 2-4 people in the car and hard cases take up more room and are more difficult to pack everyone’s stuff in the car.

I also can’t marry a single case to any blasters as I always take different blasters… and usually take 5 or 6 for me and the wife… when you have nearly 50 blasters and I want to use them all.

Thanks, my main issue is public transport alot of the time so trying to avoid gun looking bags and going things i can blend in better with just some innocent stuff like a fishing rod or camera bag (stickers are amazing for this on hard cases) while not going against the law.

Makes sense. Guitar and bass guitar bags, while being a little bit 1940 gangster violin case style work well. Especially for being inconspicuous.

Guitar cases work well… the only issue can be the bolster inside them for supporting the neck. But a bit of creativity and you can sort that issue fairly easily.

I agree with RokSolid on the hardcases being awkward and bulky. I only have one Pelican style rifle case and don’t use it because it just takes up too much room in the car, storage rack, etc. so it’s soft rifle bags for me. :+1:

But I do get your point about travelling on PT. Have you considered a partial teardown to transport your gear? One pin out on an AR platform and your upper receiver’s off, reducing the overall length significantly. :man_shrugging:

Or go with a folder like my Sig 552… fits into a very small case. :+1:

Some of the Kmart / target wheely suitcase bags, are

-cheaper
-different sizes
-some have in built combo locks.

And , you can use them for travel.!

The built in locking mechanism would satisfy the legal requirements, and lets face it, these things don’t need full hardened gun cases…just something that can be locked.

Wrap them up in a towel, for preventing scuffing / noise etc…

Speaking of bunnings, they make a quite nice , hard pistol storage container.

It has foam inserts, which you can selectively remove, to make whatever shape you need.

Lockable via flexi combo lock as well…

Look near the tool section…

Thanks, I didnt even think of kmart, even more inconsipuious and people just assume your traveling somewhere plus you get the added ability to store spare clothes and that in it to help with the noise factor.

Look for the ones with a combo lock built in.

Basically, the 2 zippers align and clip into slots in the suitcase, and lock in with a combo lock.

Not super sturdy, but ticks the legal box of a ‘lockable container’ …

Add some travel stickers, and no one would look twice…
