I was “lucky” enough to have a Chinese manufacturer send me a Fighting Bro’s G18C GLOCK as a pre production Pistol to review before they went into mass manufacturing for the market.
There was 3 of us here in Australia that were given them for pre production reviews, and I was totally impressed with their model pistol and test results.
Unfortunately, by the time they hit the mass manufacturing production line, the end results were absolutely woeful according to the feedback from the market.
The G18C I was sent was a hand built concept for the base design of mass manufacturing, and was honestly without fault even after a couple of years of constant use and abuse.
The eventual public release of this model was an absolute failure, but did not detract from the fact that the model I received was absolutely faultless throughout many years of abuse.
This is the difference between a concept of design and the eventual lack of build quality of a product for mass manufacturing.
There’s most likely thousands of really great products out there that have suffered from the same fate, where the original product got destroyed by the unregulated design tolerances and substituted cheaper materials for the mass manufacturing of the final product.
The other side of that I have seen plenty of over the years is quality in parts and workmanship changes between production runs.
Example is the first released batch might be awesome, then the subsequent production runs drop in quality. Also the opposite happens too, though much more rarely. Far more common to drop in quality over time, but sometimes brands do redeem themselves.
One worth noting was the Ausgel Ultra Elite V2. I was part of the original pre-release testing, and they were an amazing gel, could not speak highly enough of them.
Soaked for days, none overgrew and still worked in EVERYTHING from hopper fed garbage, to even tight bore things they should have been jamming in all day. Not a single jam, just an awesome consistent gel.
The first batch that was flown over, was good too. The second batch that was via sea, hot garbage. Control grow required, still got oversized, and they would dry out… a full term soak and sorting resulted in a lot of oversize wastage.
