Commercially Available blasters and products that one can only dream about

The b709a isn’t for one of those, it’s for something else I seen that none of the local retailers have due to the new laws.

So just asking the question, if they say no, they say no

If they say no I’ll be disappointed and it will just show exactly how pathetic the new laws are but we’ll see how it goes

you are entirely wrong. 3DG Glock electric gel blaster is heavily based on the architecture of an Airsoft AEP (Automatic Electric Pistol) gearbox. While it is heavily modified to accommodate water-hydrated gel balls rather than 6mm plastic BBs, its structural foundation, layout, and core mechanical principles mimic classic Airsoft AEP systems like those designed by Tokyo Marui. Similar product Tokyo Marui Glock 18c AEP released in November 2004.

Around 90% or more upmarket gel blasters ( no matter it is a AEG, GBBR, Revolvers, GBB pistols) are converted from airsoft guns at factory level then export to Australia. Famous brands like E&C , CYMA, WE/AW, Double Bell, Classic Army etc are all airsoft manufacturers. You go to Double Bell , they will tell you they can convert any of their products to gel blasters.

I am not talking about converting gel blasters to airsoft, NO one will convert a gel blaster back to airsoft.
Some cheap lower end plastic gel blaster for kids may not be able to convert to airsoft

We look to the airsoft world for new inspirations and new products and pray someday it may come to us as gel blasters.

BY the way, the V2 Gearbox for AEG we all know was released in mid-1990s (around 1994–1995)

Tokyo Marui 18C doesn’t fire manually.

It is similar, in that it has a motor, a set of gears in the gearbox, but it’s cylinder is at a different location, and 3DG’s system has an actual recoil rod at the bottom of the rail, which the one you showed in the picture doesn’t.

3DG looks like an AEP, but it isn’t. Also worth noting that the battery is stored in a different place (TM - frame rail/3DG - magazine)

Yes, I know V2 gearbox was invented in Airsoft, but I’m not talking about V2 when I say “I know some systems that are original”.

For some people it is also fairly easy to convert to airsoft than it is the opposite way. Pistols and rifles can be converted, by adding spacers in the magazine, t-piece, and barrel.
Yes, E&C can convert their airsoft to gel blasters, but they do so, by swapping out the barrels, the t-piece/hop-up, the magazine. They make their own parts to convert. Individuals don’t just have an industrial CNC machine lying around.

90% of gel blasters you know, though, are converted to gel and was once airsoft. You are looking at the blasters not made from China from a Chinese brand (excluding some rare Taiwan brands)

Yes, they mimic Marui, but they do so, they improve the system.

Overall, TL;DR, these systems were once from airsoft, but gel took inspiration and either got the same systems, or made them better.

You’re speaking the truth though, we need some airsoft guns, especially rare platforms, to be converted to gel and passed down!

You have my excuse to post airsoft. It doesn’t specifically say gel in the thread name :joy:

It’s just a pity that in Australia, we may never get to see these unless the ridiculous new laws are revised or altered to allow their import after conversion to gelsoft

As another note… Airsoft brands do convert them to gel with varying degrees of success.
Well, APS, JG, CYMA, Double Bell, EnC, and so on.

Worth mentioning that JG and CYMA have a different gearbox mould to their airsoft counterparts, with a more squared off front end that has more room for tappet plate travel.

The rest do other things to compensate for something that needs to have a little more travel to get reliable feeding, using different tappet plates, nozzles, cylinder heads, cylinders, and delay chips etc.

Brands like Jund(Cyma’s nylon gel counterpart), JingJi, Jin Ming, Bing Feng, XYL, Sijun, Warinterest, LDT, etc are gel brands. They may loosely resemble the airsoft models of similar replicas but are built and designed ground up to be a gel blaster.

Some of the newer AEPs from New Galaxy, UDL, HST, MLF etc, are designed to be gel from the get go, and they work surprisingly well. Some of the upgrades the Chinese gel scene is doing to these is pretty wild.

The QWK EAP has some VERY wild upgrades out of the box, and people have upgraded them with some absolutely bonkers RPS for an AEP.

But yes, for the most part everything is at some point of airsoft heritage either in design or inspiration.

For me the range of models gel hasn’t had yet that airsoft has is staggering and drool worthy, but gel being a niche market of a niche market… with MOQs from airsoft manufacturers being pretty high for them to do a conversion we may never see them converted, and in Oz at least its looking like we need a change of government and a law change to even hope to see them :frowning:

I couldn’t find a better way than that to say it… :joy:

All gel blasters are airsoft heritage. I mean, they both shoot balls, they’re both either electric/gas, and they hope to achieve the same goal: peak performance or peak realism. No one has achieved both yet, if one has something, there will always be a problem with the other. For example, GBB has peak realism, but performance varies. AEG has peak performance, but realism varies. EBB is the middle, but there always will be a flaw in realism or a flaw in performance.

No, you cannot manually fire a 3DG Glock 17 gel blaster either without power, as it is an electric blowback toy that relies on internal plastic gears and an electronic trigger switch rather than a manual spring-piston slide mechanism. Pulling back the slide manually on a 3DG electric model only compresses the faux blowback return spring or clears the chamber; it does not cock a spring-air compression assembly like a dedicated manual spring-loaded (springer) pistol does. You can pull the slide but doesn’t mean you can fire manually.
It is still a AEP doesn’t matter where the battery is and doesn’t matter it have a recoil rod or not. As long as it is using internal electric motor and gear set powered by a battery to cycle the gearbox and fire gel balls /BB it is a AEP. You have to understand.

3DG Glock is based on a 20 years old AEP gearbox and did it worse than the original, 3DG Glock is a piece of shit according to owner of it posed on other forum like Reddit.

You want blowbacks? Electric blowback (EBB) airsoft pistols first appeared in the early 2000s, still earlier than 3DG Glock.

As I have said no one will convert gel blaster to airsoft. In areas that airsoft is legal they will just buy airsoft.

What do you mean by blasters not made from China from a Chinese brand (excluding some rare Taiwan brands)? E&C , CYMA, Double Bell, Classic Army are made in China. WE/AW, VFC made in Taiwan. What rare Taiwan brand? No one may never heard of and They may not even have a gel blaster sold in this market.

Regarding the 3DG Glock, you were lucky if the fed and fired brand new in their day, I’d be surprised if there are many in the wild that even work now years later!

Yep… 100% agree.

They were nothing but a total PITA.

Hard to get the batteries in, jammed frequently, crushed gels, you were lucky if you got through 1 complete magazine…

Didnt stop corey flogging them, and saving they were the best things since sliced bread…

Best consigned to the history books…as a failed but evolutionary step
Avoid…!!

This 100%:point_up_2:

I’ve had three of them… no battery, no bang bang.
They could be racked manually however, something that was a death sentence for the previous electric SKD Glocks, Berettas and Deagles. It was also entirely possible to make a 3DG functional and reasonably reliable, with a fair bit of modification. Two out of three of mine worked quite well after fettling, and I just gave my last one away as a static prop because batterries for them are pretty much non-existent and I just couldn’t be arsed with it.

In general, you’re right… they were an absolute piece of shit  Showed promise, nice molding on the externals but very poorly executed mechanically, too much trouble to bother modding and the current crop of EBB pistols are so much more efficient… if a little underpowered. :person_shrugging:

I was wrong that 3DG could fire manually.

Still, three years later, QWK released the Walther P99.

(Falcon Glock was first, but it was criticized for having a motor-in-magazine, with worries that it would break after many drops.)
This is the one with the manual-firing mechanism, and was powered by a gearset and motor.

I was wrong too that most airsoft brands have locations in Taiwan and China. (Maybe AAF is an exception?)

Some people in China have converted their gel blaster pistols to Airsoft, because they want them to pierce cardboard, put a hole in soda cans, etc.
That’s a reason you can see conversion kits.
It’s a risky action though.

You don’t have to go rough on 3DG Glocks, they were an experimental system in the gel world, they weren’t perfect

And they will always never be perfect. The latest brands today, like the QWK, with their EAP-01, still have problems (e.g EAP magnetic battery cover falling off with big batteries and shaking due to the disassembly system).

I also didn’t explicitly state that all gel blaster pistols weren’t AEPs (I apologize and admit that I said 3DG Glocks weren’t AEPs), what I meant to say was, the 3DG Glocks were a special AEP with a magazine battery, and a real recoil rod that works. The QWK P99’s and onward (G17, G19X, G45TTI, G19X, 2011C2/P/XC, G45Gen6) were a more special kind of AEP that can fire when racking the slide without batteries.

“3DG Glock is based on a 20-year old AEP gearbox and they did it worse than the original. 3DG Glock is a piece of shit according to the owner of it posted on other forums like Reddit.”

@Bart368 (I think it’s bad to swear, especially back then, it was still a somewhat revolutionary piece of tech, even the TM AEPs were still a great piece of tech for budget)

 I’m clearly making mistakes, everywhere and there, but you also have a point.

extra talk

I wish they brought back the fake P99 magazine covers :joy:

I got a little excited about the 3DGs back in the day… compared to other electric pistols they were snappier, had better blowback and were a solid build compared to the SKD offerings.

But a too heavy mag spring, sub standard molding on the mag lips that turned every gel into confetti and a battery that was ridiculously tough to insert into the cramped mag without damaging the wiring (there goes your lipo) put the kybosh on those things.

They were brought in by TacToys, who spruked them as “the future of gel blaster pistols”. Ultimately all those design foibles combined with TT’s well known lack of warranty honouring and customer support which left a lot of people who bought them high and dry killed them off pronto.

Shame really, because all they really needed was better factory QA and a slightly longer magazine cap to make battery insertion easier and they would have been viable. They’d still be outdated now, of course… but you’d probably see one or two still around.

Kimber G18C!!!

Steel helical gears
900 RMB

Got me feeling all sentimental…

I pulled out the old G34 3DG john wick…

Annnd… it didnt even dry fire properly.

The slide locked back, which resulted in the convulted pull down procedure.

And no , its not the same as the standard 3dg vids.

Got there in the end, reset it , got it back on…tried again.
cycled a few times, and jammed again.

Dry firing. No gels involved at all, yet.

Get the picture.??! :scream: :rage: :face_vomiting:

i packed it up again, before i too succumbed to the urge to throw it into a bonfire…

Hang on…
but, google says this…

Yes, a V2.5 gearbox can technically achieve 700 FPS with extreme modifications, but it is exceptionally difficult, highly impractical, and prone to catastrophic failure.

Also…Gemini called my information a Myth.?
And used the words " physically Impossible"…??

impossible is a strong word…
and, its all relative.

Lets say your on a bus doing 100 km/hr.
You fire your v2.5 gearbox.
relative to the ground, your doing 100km/hr + 400 fps.
So , over 100 km/hr… not impossible.

Other claims are also possible, and certainly not impossible.

Lets say you take a gel to space. It instantly freezes, adding to its structural strength.

Now, subject that gel to a slow, constant acceleration.
In the vaccum of space, with no drag to oppose it, with slow constant acceleration, any speed is theoretically possible…

So, my following statements are TRUE…if initially launched from a v2.5 gearbox …(albeit with supplemental air to assist launch).

V 2.5 gel Gearboxes allow gels to get to 700 fps… and can exceed it
V 2.5 gel Gearboxes negate gel drop due gravity… nil gel drop
V 2.5 gel Gearboxes shoot gels that follow the curvature of the earth…if allowed to reach the correct distance / speed, for sattelite orbit
V 2.5 gel Gearboxes shoot gels that reach escape velocity…As above
V 2.5 gel Gearboxes shoot gels that reach the moon…Certainly not impossible.

So there you go…
I’ve been slandered by Gemini…
Who do i sue.?.?.?!!

Since you’re just going all out I’ll just leave this here

:joy::joy::joy:

From your picture I can see it is a nightmare to fit battery into the mag. That’s why the Tokyo marui AEP battery compartment is under the barrel. It is much easier to fit battery there than in the mag. By the way the Tokyo marui EBB pistol like M9, P330, Colt 2011 hi-cap etc( it is a improvement of the original gearbox). It can fit 4 AAA batteries in the grip without any issues, but most likely it cannot covert to gel blaster because of the design of the mag
