Despite sealing around the base o ring and changing fill valves the two DB mags I have for the Taurus will lose their gas overnight.
I’ve heard that WE Tech M92 mags are compatible and don’t leak like a sieve like the DB mags, but before I go looking for them and dumping $160+ on two mags it’d be good to know I’m not throwing my shekels away on something that won’t fix the problem.
This is why I prefer EBB pistols. Maybe I’m better off just putting that $160 towards a MiLF… pistol, I mean.
I found the Fighting Bro air-seal lubricant worked best for my gas mags. Remove both the valves and clean their threads and the mag port thread with cotton buds wet with isopropyl alcohol. Then give the same spots another clean with dry cotton buds. Screw in poppet valve at the mag top. Then hold the mag upside down and add a few drops of the seal lubribant down the fill port. You can use unscrew the spray top and use its feed tube to drip into the port. Then screw in the fill valve. Once done, charge the mag with the lowest KG green gas you have and see what happens. Ideally, the seal lube will get driven into any micro gaps and complete the seal.
If that fails, ive used some of the white grease in the kit - just the smallest dab on a cotton bud, and run a thin stripe along the valve threads - from top to bottom, over the o-rings too. You dont want much at all or you it can make leaks worse.
The reinstall poppet valve, add another couple of drops of the air seal lube into the fill port and then screw in the fill valve.
That has been the most reliable fix ive had for troublesome mags - including my DB Beretta.
That Fighting Bro seal oil really is the goods. Its just the right weight.
Disclaimer - never head of this retailer or bought from them. I just googled the kit and they have it.
Have you figured out where it’s leaking from? Base/fill valve/release valve etc?
A lot of my mags I’ve gone through and replaced the base plate o-ring and a couple I had to replace o-rings on valves and I add a bit of oil/grease to them to keep them soft and prevent tearing when screwing back in.
There’s o-ring kits you can get online for gbb mags that have all the correct sized pieces.
DB Taurus mags all leak around the base o-ring due to the pin in design of the base itself.
Have heard of airsoft guys just using gasket grey and making them a permanent seal but yet to try it.
I have had the same issues with mine from day dot. Leaked overnight when I got it, had the gas guru tech I know attempt it and it was fine for a few weeks… then let go again.
I had a couple of attempts with different orings and lubes since and still the same.
It was a curse of them when I worked at the shop too, fix them for them only to be leaking overnight in a few weeks again.
Shame as the rest of the thing isnt a bad pistol.
One day I will try the gasket goo and see how it goes.
I permanently sealed around the base plate on my mags with epoxy agrs ago, so they definitely don’t leak around that. The pins have been sealed same way, so should be all good there.
You’re right about a shitty design… I don’t know anyone with a Taurus that doesn’t have leaking mags.
The thing is, on one of the mags I reckon I can hear gas from the fill valve… so I need to service that. But what’s weird is it seems to get louder when the mag’s put in the pistol. Makes zero sense.
A quick test with soapy water around the mag base seemed okay, although a tiny bubble or two seemed noticeable around the pins.
Last night I ran a little Zap CA around the base plate and pins, super thin superglue that wicks into the smallest void. Pulled out the valves and soaked them in silicone gun oil for a couple of hours before refitting them and filling the mag.
Checked this morning, they don’t seem to have lost any gas, but a few days of sitting full will tell whether the CA’s done it’s job or not.
So hopefully all fixed… the next DB Beretta mag I buy will be strpped, cleaned with isopropyl and permanently sealed up before it gets any gas.
