Hi all, seeing as I can’t find much online resources about the Dekai Mk-17 I thought I’d share my experience with it so far and maybe a tiny review. One of my friend happens to own one and he lent it to me in our last skirmish to try and we got together and gathered our thoughts on it.
Now keep in mind this is my first “review” of something so I’m sorry if things seems odd. Feedback is appreciated! Gotta get revenge for my IELTS going from an 8 to a 7 somehow .
Anyways on to the “review”

Thoughts
The DK SCAR Mk-17 is genuinely a fun unit to play with. The recoil kick is immensely satisfying, and the overall build quality stands out, especially if you’re a fan of the SCAR platform. Compared to other brands’ SCAR H models, the DK version arguably offers the best experience and build quality straight out of the box. Friends who’ve tested it even liken the recoil feel to that of ATM models, but at a significantly lower price point.
However, performance is where this unit begins to falter. Out of the box, it delivers 230 FPS with an average rate of fire, even when using an 11.1v battery. While this level of performance is standard for factory blasters in China, it struggles against even slightly upgraded units in more open and public skirmishes.
You might think, “It’s fine, I can just upgrade it!”—but here’s the unfortunate truth: it’s not worth it.
A trusted tuner and renowned importer (I personally call him my plastic crack dealer since I buy all my units from him) in the Jakarta Metropolitan Area, has warned that opening this unit carries significant risks, beyond what’s typically expected when modifying a J8 or J9 gearboxes. While upgrading is technically possible, you’re going in blind and risk damaging the unit’s main selling point: the recoil blowback system.
I mean, there’s a reason why no one so far has dared to open the unit up.
And while I gushed about the feel and experience of the recoil, the blowback system is a double-edged sword. It provides a highly enjoyable shooting experience but makes upgrades nearly impossible without disabling the recoil mechanism—the very thing you would buy this unit for.
Moreover, the recoil system is pretty rough the blaster itself. Out of the two people I know who own this, both reported issues: one had their charging handle break, while the other experienced a telescopic stock that became stuck in the retracted position. While it’s somewhat fun to compare this to the real SCAR’s reputation for breaking optics, these flaws are less acceptable for a blaster you paid and want to have fun with.
And while I think these are still relatively fine or you can work around these, the most damning issue right now is the lack of spare magazines available. Here in Indonesia at least, no one sells extra mags for them. And for a unit that costs as much as a Sijun MCX? I’d rather get the MCX honestly speaking since at least I know I can use my Sijun mags for it instead of not having any available.
To end it all, is it a good unit? Yes especially if you love the SCAR. Is it a fun unit to shoot? EXTREMELY. Is it competitive or can you upgrade it? Unfortunately that’s an no. It’s a fun “experience” gun, but take that out and you can’t really do much with it anymore.
I’m not barring you from getting one, but please note these factors before taking your wallet out and making a purchase.
