In my haste to snap up a bargain I’ve purchased a couple of Chi Hai 460 long motors for $15 each. Seems I didn’t do my research properly and our blasters take 480 long motors.
Can these be made to work relatively easily, or should I cut my losses and buy a 480 long?
Side note, I may have 2 x 460 long motors for sale…
They will fit, but will need to pack/shim/add motor height screw spacer under the motor base plate to maintain proper pinion to bevel gear mesh.
It can be done, just a bit of fiddling around, and depending upon the model blaster, might have to shim the Pistol Grip to prevent too much motor rotation movement when on and off the trigger.
I still remember the first time I got caught out the same way with the motors.
Back before the V2’s with the 360/380 size motors.
From memory it was the Kris Vector motors being the 380 size when everything else that had ever been released up to that point were all 360 motors.
I still managed to trim the Gen8 motor cage and the brushed end of the motor to get it all to fit inside a Gen8 M4 grip and work fantastic… but I was determined to get that bastard in there somehow!
Managed to get some 460’s working in 480 V2’s as well, but only because that’s all I had on hand at the time and ordered the proper 480’s to swap out after they arrived, which is the only proper way of doing things!
