Gel Ball Nobody's nonsense corner

Yes that is the fact the pisses me off a bit.
Well that and that this is a $350 nylon blaster with a metal gearbox, doesn’t exactly leave room in the budget for a visit to a tech!

And not an ideal beginning blaster either.

For sure mate, definitely most likely out of the " beginners" budget, but anyone saving that extra hard for a more expensive “quality” Brand blaster would be severely pissed to receive that out of the box!

There’s plenty of issues with entry level cheap blasters, but you sort of expect this when going down that path, not so much with the more expensive models.

Funny…

I just pulled a spanking new one of these off the wall around at my local seller’s shop. Found exactly the same mag / t piece issue on that one, so obviously a design fault that DB have made with the t piece. Mag won’t engage with the latch unless you give it a too hard palm whack upwards.

And yet old mate says he’s sold heaps and never had a complaint about the t piece issue or the mag fitment being too tight He wasn’t even aware of it until i pointed out the obvious dings in the t piece feed tube. Everyone who’s bought one loves them, he reckons.

Go figure. :person_shrugging: I’d buy one if I was keen on the look, but I’d know it needed work.

But, as you said in your vid, it wouldn’t be gel ball if it didn’t need some work.

Yes I did get it because I like it, and I will make it work and work well.
I suspect it is a design flaw, mainly as the question was sort of dodged. It is annoying that it is likely a know fault/flaw, but they sell them as is. Pretty easy fix at least but… needs fixing out of the box!

So far I have it to the point where it needs a clean and grease, and slap it together and see how it goes. Fortunately it hasn’t cost alot to upgrade/fix, and it should perform decently.

To be honest I kinda like a project a lot more than just buy a blaster and use it, so far from deal breaking for me… but would be nice to know BEFORE purchasing. Good communication and honesty even if something is inferior/flawed is better than raised expectations and disappointment!

Hoping to continue the saga next Friday for everyone

still…mr joe average shouldn’t have to do this OOTB…

For a more expensive item, it should be right, right OOTB…

100% cuz I if I bought one and it had this issue I’d be fkd, especially if the shops are trying to wash their hands of it, denying the issue exists

Ditto.

I look for used blasters on the secondhand market that are listed as broken, so cheap… and it gives me something to do.

Last two I bought like that though had the same minor issue in common… a dead flat and baked battery that couldn’t be charged. Nothing wrong with the blasters themselves, bung in a charged up lipo and it’s pew city. Almost disappointing.

Lucky there’s always upgrades.

Hahaha… I always had plenty of “broken” Blasters sold to me cheap, but would always do a deal with them for a fully rebuilt Blaster to keep them in the Hobby. :ok_hand:
Funnily enough, every single brand new Blaster got stripped and modified as soon as it arrived anyway, so ALWAYS had plenty of work on the bench whether they required it or not!

The only Blasters that were untouched were the ones purchased for my “collection”.

Basically loaded and fired only once, to make sure that they worked correctly and put them through the Chrono, then cleaned repackaged and put away in the collection as “brand new unused” Blasters.

Just think how many you’d have now, if gelblasters were still legal in WA…!!

The mind boggles…!!

I would need a second storage unit! :joy:

It’s getting that way with the RC Hobby stuff already!

Might be a good point of argument for re-legalising gelsoft in WA, Doc.

*Taking my gel blasters away did nothing to improve my state of mind, Mr Premier.

Now instead of a container full of gel blasters I’ve got a container full of RC boats, crawlers and drift cars."

Love the way that the Police Minister is grappling that rifle… looking completely clueless!

Those items aren’t so bad because they are pretty small really… but the Aircraft on the other hand, 1220mm, 1500mm and 1800mm Wingspans and the fuselages around 1200 long, that’s a shittonne of room for every single one! :astonished::face_exhaling:

I got the morning off so I will jump into chat when it launches :slightly_smiling_face:

That was so funny. Had a real good chuckle  :v: :+1:

Cheers mate! I always try to keep the amusement value!
It is an amazingly light hearted look at what some might consider a terrible blaster…
Most people rate blasters on out of the box… I rate them on potential!

It is actually quite good now, and I am pretty happy with it

Another excellent video, and confused the crap outta me because I had my 2 battery chargers going off whilst watching and didn’t know if it was my own chargers going off! :joy:
