I’m an experienced airsoft player, mainly into realistic replicas and GBB systems. I’m new to the gel blaster world, but I’m seeing some very interesting realistic platforms like the City Tiger / CT HD17-SER and ATM 2.0 gearbox builds.
I’d love to hear about good companies that manufacture well-known, reliable gel blasters — kind of like what Tokyo Marui represents in the airsoft world. In general, I’d love to learn from you guys: what should I look into, what’s reliable, and where is the realistic gel blaster scene heading?

I’m new to this forum, so first of all — nice to meet you all.
I’ve been playing airsoft for around 12 years, and over time I’ve become much more interested in the realism side of the hobby: realistic replicas, proper manipulation, blowback, realistic controls, training value, and anything that feels closer to the real platform rather than just being a “toy that shoots.”
Naturally, because of that, I’ve always been more drawn to GBBs — pistols, rifles, and anything with realistic operation. That said, I recently started looking into gel blasters more seriously, and I have to say, I’m actually surprised by how interesting this world is becoming.
At first, I thought gel blasters were mostly simple electric toys, but then I started seeing things like the City Tiger / CT HD17-SER shell-ejecting GBB-style pistol, the New Galaxy Glock 17 AEG with a realistic slide stop, and ATM 2.0 gearbox systems that seem to bring much more realistic handling and mechanical behavior into the gel blaster world.
So now I’m genuinely curious.
For people here who have more experience with gel blasters:
- What are the most realistic gel blaster platforms available right now, and where can I get them?
- Are shell-ejecting GBB gel blasters actually practical if I intend to train with them, or are they more of a cool novelty?
- How reliable are systems like ATM 2.0 compared to regular gel blaster gearboxes?
- Are there any realistic rifle platforms that feel close to GBBR/EBBR airsoft replicas?
- What brands or models should someone like me look into first?
- Is the realistic gel blaster scene growing, or is it still a small niche?
- What should I know about different types of gel balls? I’ve seen that there are different hardness levels, sizes, and materials, and I’d love to understand what works best for different types of blasters.
I’m not here to compare airsoft and gel blasters in a negative way. I’m actually very enthusiastic about what I’m seeing, and I like the idea that gel blasters can offer a lower-impact and more accessible training experience compared to airsoft.
I’d love to learn more from people who are already deep in this hobby.
Would really appreciate your opinions, recommendations, warnings, and personal experience.

It’s comical, even some of his friends the doc brings up. One of them said to me recently, this guy I don’t know whats doctor about him, built a fkn shed today than went hooning in his uncorked 79 V8 landcruiser.
All bs deleted. I said well cops can’t stop ya, medical emergency to bump start someone, gotta go, got special licence. Cops know anyway with their auto plate readers who’s who pull up the rap list., fitted in every patrol vehicle. Like the druggo next door the local said to me shit took me half an hour to go through his rap sheet history haha
The comical thing is the aforementioned druggo has no drivers licence for 30 years. The local just pulls him up, fuck off home you are too much bookwork.
That guy is mental. He tends to drive like a lunatic on country roads, like 160klm/hr lunatic. He’s building his scrap yard of written off cars. I went to go food shopping to the local one tuesday, heres a commodore wagon front end wiped out up in the scrub side of road wheels auto detach. I slowed, check for dead bodies, nope, advance ignore. He had that commo for 6 days and wrote it off, and a subaru, and now it’s on a V6 toyota Camry. He’s got a line up of 30+ cars from 2 years all write off as he can’t see for shit and cooked minda
