JY (Swift Hawk) Remington MSR Bolt-Action Sniper Gel Blaster (Tan) - Renegade Blasters This is the store and they seem fine to me but I am not very experienced. This looks like a good sniper but I was wondering if yall know anything about it?
The store itself isn’t bad, at least none of my dealings with them, not sure if they ship internationally though.
AKgelblaster I think would be your best bet for online as they ship practically everywhere and seem to have good info regarding importation to certain countries, which you should check with your local importation laws etc before making a purchase.
Yes the biggest issue with Australian Gelbaster Retailers is that most of them do not ship overseas due to the laws here in Australia making it very difficult indeed.
There’s only a couple of retailers that have the necessary permissions/clearances to “export” Blasters/parts overseas, and even then the shipping can take weeks or months to arrive.
I think that X-Force Tactical, WAT International and AUSGEL are the main ones I can think of, but someone else here might be able to clarify this further
Whereas @AKgelblaster specialises in the USA and European markets, so their products arrive in only a few days, not weeks or months
Those JG MSRs had a few problems with sears wearing prematurely. I have a few mates with them and all had that same problem.
Novel concept though… manual bolt but battery powered magazine. Interstingly, Hanke make a shell ejecting MSR gel blaster that’s almost identical.
Here’s a review if you want a better look at them.
@BradleyPhillipsYT might be kind enough to help you out if you want more info on them.
Double feeding on a bolt action blaster is obviously a fault with having an electric fed magazine
The only Gelbaster “sniper” rifles I ever owned were the shitty JWM Bolt Action rifles with the crappy mechanical fed mags.
This particular model looks way too complicated and finicky to be able to simply fire a single gel reliably compared to the brands out there that were more simple in design and function.
I can’t recommend the MSR one bit. Spare mags are basically unobtainium. And the mags were possibly their biggest problem. You sort of had to get the right rhythm on the bolt to only feed one gel.
The plastic sears wear out commonly, and the aftermarket and spares were not kind to this model. If you want a wall hanger of that model, ask on the discord or facebook pages and you will likely get plenty offered for bugger all.
Surprisingly the WELL MB08 series is pretty decent, they work. iHobby has spares. That is good. Actually the only thing WELL make that isn’t a garbage fire.
Double bell bolt actions are okay, but pricey. Only seen a couple in person, and seemed to be fussy on gels.
Finally, the classic army SR40, is okay. I picked one up for $150 last boxing day. Initially it worked alright, then lost power and didn’t even have the push to get a gel out of the barrel over time. They do accept VSR10 parts from the airsoft world, so I have put in a stainless bolt and metal piston kit. Had to make a nozzle extension to get it to work but is not difficult.
It is now infinitely better feeling, and shoots a reliable single gel at 300fps.
Again though, I don’t recommend any bolt action gel blaster- unless you are plinking at 10-15m, and are aware they are a novelty.
If you want something that performs at range, it is accuracy by volume so build a DMR style AEG, but still expect it to be best on a 5 or so round burst to ensure one or two gels land what you are aiming at!
I’m really happy with my Senyu M24… basically a Remmington 700.
Not as tactical looking as the MSR or AWM based gel blasters but solid and dependable. Had it for a couple of years now and aside from an oil now and then is trouble free and a lot of fun as a backyard plinker.
The only thing I’d recommend on the Senyu is ditching the proprietry heavy bipod and replacing it with a lightweight nylon one so you can handle it easier. Very front heavy with the supplied one fitted.
