JG Works M16A1

Hey guys just had a question about it, hoping someone can shed some light on it.

I picked up a JG Works M16A1 on sale from ausgel, was watching low Guido’s review and he puts a j9 gen 9 stanag mag in it at around 10mins 30seconds into the video

I just bought a j9 gen 9 mag and it doesn’t fit, feels very tight and feels like if I try to force it, it will not end well. So there’s :heavy_dollar_sign: down the drain as I don’t need any mags for any of my other blasters

Is anyone able to tell me, link me one that will fit that looks more like the stanag style mag. Or can anyone tell me if this war interest stanag tracer mag will fit?

Edit: it does fit, but fark it’s a tight fit and I really didn’t feel right trying to force it. Havnt tested it’s feeding yet, should be fine I would imagine and surely the fit will loosen up in the mag well over time but, it definitely had me worried I was going to break it :grimacing:

Do you have the original magazine for this blaster, or able to find a good image of the original mag online?

There’s many small differences/tolerances that the manufacturer’s build into the mags to ensure that they fit their own products only to keep the aftermarket spare parts sales flowing in.

BUT… as I have done countless times before, as have many people here, studying the small differences and replicating the tolerances/mag catches/feed tubes/contacts/mag well fitment can be achieved through a bit of sanding/cutting/chopping/filling to get mags to work in most Blasters. :+1:

Thanks doc, yeah I’ve managed to get it to fit, it was just a bit daunting because it was such a tight fit and in Guido’s review video it seemed to go in so much smoother without as much effort

No worries mate, good news! :raised_hands:
I was just going to comment that LowGuido fitted a Nylon mag in the video, not a metal one, which can make a bit of a difference as well, because “Gelblaster Tolerances.”

Quite a few brand new Blasters have the tight fitting mag issue until they gradually “break in” after a bit of use, so that’s most likely what you will find with your new metal mag as well. :+1:

Yeah it was only a nylon j9 gen 9 magazine that I used. Definitely be a lot more of a hassle with the metal mag I imagine.

Might have to grab one of my spare gen 8 tracer mags and sand it down a bit at the top of the mag to help it go in easier without making me feel like I’m going to break it :grimacing:. Definitely don’t want to do that lol.

I know my bifrost will most likely go on the barrel but to keep it looking more legit I’d rather go the tracer mag route

Cheers

Tracer mags are the bomb as far as I’m concerned, hence why I used to make quite a few different ones for customers who didn’t want to ruin the aesthetics of their Blasters/have stuff hanging off the end of the barrel/interfering with hop up units/having another device to charge and maintain or simply didn’t have the right design to be able to attach one.

Best thing about mag tracer units is that they can simply be inserted into ANY equivalent type blaster and instantly turn them into tracer gel firers without the need for any extra wiring or accessories to fit and easily swappable with a push of the mag release button!

Running off the standard mag power wires and main battery also simplified things greatly.

Best thing is that ANY stock standard mag can be converted into a dual purpose Glow Mag with the additional of a simple on/off switch/press button on the side of the magazine. :ok_hand:

Glow Gels are MUCH brighter in a tracer mag as well, because all the gels are exposed to UV light the whole time that its operating, not just for a split section of exposure as it leaves the barrel.

FWIW, the JG M16A1 I have takes CYMA stanag mags just fine.

Although CYMA mags aren’t the best if they’re not rewired with an upgrade motor.

But… they do fit. :+1:

Do you know if the metal war interest stanag tracer mag will fit? Without modifying the mag well that is

Looks much better appearance in my opinion that a gen 8 tracer mag which I did find fit the JG Works M16A1.

Curious know what motor would be best suited for the CYMA stanag mag if I was to go that route, but unless they have a tracer version of the CYMA I probably won’t worry about it.

So far my googling hasn’t returned any stanag tracer mags from CYMA, unless I’m doing something wrong in my googling

CYMA don’t offer a tracer mag as far as I know. :man_shrugging:

Can’t vouch for the WI stanag being compatible with the JG… haven’t tried one in mine, so instore testing would be in order there.

WAT have the WI mags… pop in with your JG and try one out. :+1:

Late to the party but you will find the ribs inside the mag well will need a bit of filing. Not much to fit the mags you have on hand, just file a bit and keep checking fitment until they drop free :+1:

Yeah I messaged x-force, they told me the war interest metal tracer mags are slimmer and that they should fit so when I’ve got some money, lol, um, when I sacrifice whatever to get one I will :grimacing::joy:

Yep bit exxy but they are the best I’ve tried. :+1:

Correct…the WI Tracer mags on my old Gen8’s, SKD 416 and M4SS would physically fit the mag well with a small amount of wobble, but had to cut out a new Latch Slot to lock into those earlier models, but they are the same latch height on the Gen8 as the WI if I remember correctly.

yep the mag catch height varied in the early days with the G8 to G9 transition.

I have some epm mags that have dual slots on them plastic mags and they work great. Bit sloppy in the G8 magwell but work fine. Specifically designed to fit both. Haven’t seen them around for years as they were an Alix buy.

They kind of shot themselves in the foot not standardizing on one size magazine for the common people. Tripped a lot of people up, including me

Then there was Wells… need I say more
