Kriss Vector Sighting Issues

Zeroing red dots… hmmmmmm

Has anybody managed to find a red dot sight with enough elevation djustment to zero in somewhere close when it’s mounted on a KV V2?

Tried a Sig Romeo, Aimpoint Micro, EOTech 551 and 552, they all run out of adjustment before they get anywhere near zeroed. Obviously the problem’s in the janky sliding top pic rail arrangement, it seems the top surface of the upper receiver and therefore the pic rail’s in no way on the same elevation plane as the inner barrel.

Yeah yeah… I know optics on blasters are a bit of a wank but I’d like to get a simple red dot close to useable at CQB ranges for snappy target acquisition.

Maybe I’m just chasing the impossible. :person_shrugging:

Could you ad a few coke can shims to the appropriate end of your mounts to sit between the mount and pic rail?

Would sort of act like a 20MOA slanted pic rail, but on the scope side.

Funny you mention red dots…

This just arrived today.

I was going to put it on a pistol, but mounting issues…

“If it doesn’t have a upper rail, likely not to prevail…!”

I put it on a SCAR.

super cheapy, but seems ok so far…adjustment works…

I’ve ran in to that before, my solution was in the spare parts dept the sight went, back to open sights.

Worth trying Jug’s suggestion but will be tricky being single mount optics.

I always found the metal top rail helps if you can find one. The plastic rail tends to bend up in the middle slightly quite often, it also rattles a fair bit with a sight on it.

Shimming with some aluminium tape under the rear of the sight might help a little too. Most sights are 3 or so inches higher than the bore so best to settle with the sight being 3 or so inches higher.

@Jug Yeah, I’ve tried ally tape on the underside to cant each sight downward slightly. Very slight improvement but still not enough… shim too much and the picatinny grooves won’t engage.

@BME SCARs are easy to sight in… they’ve got a solid top pic rail. Sadly, the removable Vector top rails are pretty janky and poorly designed.

@RokSolid I’ve dressed the top of the receiver flat and square, the pic rail slides on and sits flat and level, held down pretty securely around the sight location with a couple of extra screws. All I can think of is the receiver top and inner barrel aren’t anything like parallel. As it is now, at max adjustment I’m putting the dot or reticle about 40cm or more above target when I’m hitting it at a range of about 4 metres. Pretty shitful.

I guess a metal pic rail might help, X-Force still have one… but it’s a dovetail fitment and if it’s firm it won’t allow me to cant it up at the back to angle it downward to realign it with the bore.

I’m probably way overthinking it… hate to say it but I think @Maiphut is right… it may just have to be iron sights for this Vector. :person_shrugging:

3D printed red dot sight with a custom piece of acrylic inside that has nail polish red dot on it?

The standard fake 552 that comes with the KVs has no reticle on the lens… just clear plastic.

Might come to that. :joy:

Saves on lens cleaning

I’ve got one of these successfully zeroed on a blaster which has heaps of adjustment. I don’t think they look very good though

yep run them on everything. Usual gel ball issues. Have to re-zero with each new batch of gels. Sometimes difficult to drop aimpoint down far enough when using a riser

If you mounted it on the side rail would it help getting the elevation angle better or would it be just as bad or worse?

Edit: My bad I read wrong, it’s been a long night at work, thought you meant just a red dot attachment

side mount a sight, good one @shadow187 ya f#ckwit :joy::joy:

Although if you were shooting sideways Gangsta style it could work :joy:

I’m pretty much in the camp of thinking I’d have to reset the pic rail to acheive what I’m after and…

Nobody got time for that! :joy:

Too much work involved in that little project, would need a metal rail and would mean I’d have to lose the dovetail attachment and come up with another method of retaining it. Not worth it… Nope!

Iron sights it is then! :+1:

Ha!

By creatively packing under the nylon rail of the KV with masking tape I managed to get a downhill run happening underneath the red dot sight… just enough to get it close and zero in an Eotech 553 clone. With the rail secured with a couple of small screws into the receiver top the sight’s almost at the limit of it’s elevation adjustments but it’s there.

At about 5 metres with the reticle centred on a 10cm round target I’m getting pretty much a 100% bullseye rate with gels bang on the target every trigger pull.

Beyond that range, at around 10-15 metres all the gels hit the target with a spread within the circle of the reticle, so I’m guessing about 20cms, prettu good for such a short barrel and certainly good enough to hit an opponent sticking his cruet around a corner in a CQB game.

Happy days! :sunglasses:

Awesome results mate!
This is why Aluminium tape is a permanent fixture in my tool cabinet.

Pics or it didnt happen!
