LDT HK416 issues

Hey everyone. I used to be very active on this community many years ago. I lost interest in gel ball for a couple of years.

I have this issue which is driving me crazy!
I’ve decided to modify my LDT hk416. Everything is fine and as it should be, however, for some reason, the full auto isn’t working anymore, and the safety is in the semi auto position :man_facepalming:
I seriously have no idea what is going on.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I’ll add some photos, just incase something is obvious.
Thanks guys, its been way too long!

Missing the contact on the selector plate?

I think you are right. I had a suspicion that it had something to do with the selector plate. I’ll likely drop a full metal gearbox in. I’ll end up replacing the gears eventually anyways, so by replacing the whole gearbox I’ll hopefully fix most of my problems

Welcome back mate.
Might be worth checking the selector on the receiver itself too, It could be the lobe on the selector might be turned slightly, so it is unable to move the selector plate rearward enough to make it full auto?

What modifications have you done to the blaster so far?

They don’t have contacts on the selector plate thou. The orange CYMA ones do thou.

As Rok mentioned, it might be the selector on the receiver side, I had the inside but break/strip on another blasters and it wouldn’t rotate with the lever so was stuck in safe.

Right, been years since I touched those piles of trash gearboxs’

You’re not wrong on that

I won’t argue with that… the bolt and falling out nuts… different screws are enough to make it annoying, that and most of the ones I had to deal with were from people had given up after pushing them too had trying to get stupid fps and rps out of them and they just don’t love that level of stress… neither did I actually!

Massive overkill designing them with nuts and bolts… it’s not like they were built to handle 500 FPS!

H&K416 had a decent enough shell though… worth considering an LDX transplant. :man_shrugging:

In my experience, LDT nylon gearboxes? Made out of recycled donkey pubes… what I think everytime I open one up…

But that’s just like, my opinion, man

IIRC, didn’t one of those shockers sneak it’s way into the highly priced LDT SCAR H platform?

I had gotten one as a trade for parts, the gearbox was cactus, probably similar to what Rok described. Ended up putting one of those DB metal gearboxes in and it fitted perfectly, mate loved it so much he bought it off me and it’s his main blasters ATM.
If they were to sell just the shells as a lot they’d probably sell more than a functional one.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I’m I’ve decided to put another gearbox in the shell. I only wanted it as a back up blaster, or to give to a mate if their need a blaster for a game.
I’ve always really liked the 416, however, i don’t really want to pay some ridiculous price (some i’ve seen for 1k and up) for one.
So I’ll drop another gearbox in, with metal gears. I’ve already got the inner barrel sorted.
Any suggestions for a decent gearbox which I can drop straight in, would be appreciated

I’m definitely considering dropping the Double Bell box!! I have a DB M4 as my main blasters for games. I’ve ran at least a couple hundred magazines over a year or so out of it. Absolutely no issues. So they definitely hold up to heavy usage :grimacing:

This springs to mind… $185

Although I haven’t had any first hand experience with 'em. :man_shrugging:

The only drawback imo is the t-piece for them only comes in a 8.5mm barrel, but they’re stainless steel so there at least that.

Don’t know how they run with a different nozzle/t-piece setup though. I did have to drop a weaker spring in there thou cause it was pushing above my fields limit.
Would also recommend opening it up and checking the grease, mine was a bit scant so cleaned it out and lubed it up with some better stuff and it’s running good again.

If you want a drop in solution, the ldx is about as simple as it will get. It shares the same footprint, and they use the same tpiece nozzle design, and are an alright gearbox. They are cast so don’t push them but with the right cylinder and barrel volume you should see close to 300fps on standard form.

The bigrrr mosfet is shmeh, but the non mosfet “basic” version doesn’t seem to be available anywhere. They will run fine for a while anyway they are just nothing to write home about.

It’s hard to disagree on that :joy:

Here’s my list of choice, imo the best gearbox from top to bottom for ldt body kit

  • Ldx will be my best choice, since it’s from the same brand and will fit tight like a glove without any issues.
  • Jund/cyma orange will fit but you will have to find another place for the magprime diote since it will be stuck on the lower receiver, and maybe change the selector plate. But other than that, it will be the 2nd best choice.
  • Gsl/jingji split gearbox will be great since it’s a split one and will be great for gear shimming, trouble shooting the gearbox. But you will have to file out a bit at the mag release holes, because the mag release button/spring will be a bit tight and won’t work properly without filing out.
  • Sijun is my last choice, since you lose blowback, fake bolt thingy, mag prime, bolt release. Basically my last choice.
