It’ll be the first gen 8 I’ve touched.
Still working fine, this is a purely a learning exercise…
Had a stage one upgrade, hop up…280 fps from memory.
A lot quieter than the LDT rattle train…

If you’re going to pull apart a Gen 8, can I suggest whacking in some metal gears, an upgrade cylinder head and nozzle, big spring, red Chi Hai motor, maybe even get a hold of a Singularity shell? Might as well make it worth the effort.
I know of a bloke over in WA (I’m lookin’ at you @DocBob 
) who if I recall correctly has a couple of Singularity boxes kicking around… lucky for you 
Did you just copy and paste my standard Gen8 upgrade formula? 
I still have a pretty big Mail out list to send out to BME, RokSolid and Maiphut anyways… may as well just find a bigger box for BME’s stuff while I’m at it!

The gen8 is still an old favourite for me, and red chi hai with 18:1 gears is just a ripper combination for them!
I have a cosmo sirius here to do that will likely get the same combination!

They’re like V8 Falcons… Holley four barrel, extractors, toploader box and a 9" diff… Stage 1 upgrade.

I recently grabbed 2 from m416gelblaster.
Out of stock now though, but watch this space…
Also, the best gels so far are the xforce Dragon orbs.
These are a larger, harder gel.
They match well with the 2020 vintage , slightly larger inner barrel.
Consistent 280-300 fps.
New batch of xforce pinkies sits around 260-280. Smaller gels, in a bigger barrel.
Good result, for a short barrel.
Would be good, if we could get the mp5k’s up around there…

I had close to 40 UMP45 Mags in my parts piles, but gave away plenty with every UMP that I offloaded during the Bans coming into effect.
Unsure how may I have left, but they are all the original Bare Shell Only first released UMP45’s along with the later Gen8 equipped versions.
Apologies to everyone that it’s taking me so long to get my shit together out of my old Business Parts Pile, but they are all in another Town in a Storage Unit whose owner is away on the Mines for 3 weeks of every month, making the logistics of being able to arrange a meeting quite difficult at the very least. 
No rush mate, we all understand and can wait 
My gen8 UMP is long overdue for a service/update. It has worn out 3 of those poor red chihais over the years!
Mental note to self…
DONT leave the battery plugged in overnight.
The Mosfet places a slow drain on the battery…enough to nearly flatten it overnight.
Enough juice in the battery, to ressurect it on the charger…
Also… Older Gen 8 UMP.
It started off, so well…
That was on xforce pinkies.
Then…wizzzzzz…( spinning sound effects).
Spinny Spinny, Not Thumpy Thumpy = more work required…
Somethings sheared, in the gearbox.
Probably age/ brittle related , rather than use related…
Oh well, time to conduct an autopsy.

Metal gears are spinning, tappet plate cycling back and forth, but piston not cycling…
I think the head has detatched from the piston, it pushes the piston body back, and the spring cant push it all forward…piston body gets stuck back…
Also…looks like a crack, in the section where the t-piece joins the body near the nozzle. T-piece has got a bit of movement.
Its all meant to be a one piece moulded gearbox, correct.??
Any crack would be unrepairable, causing some air leakage, time to get a new gearbox shell??

Nylon box is much better… or you could go better again and transplant into a singularity gearbox… $10.50 at ausgel!
I have some leftover LDT UMP mags I could sell you if you like. I had 2 LDT UMP blasters that I fried the mosfets on. I left them with a “mate” to have a look at as he had a LDT UMP blaster too but he has disappeared with my blasters. Let me know if you are interested.
