Le Hui Tavor X-95 Bullpup - Review & Tweaks

The X-95 by Le Hui… one came into my possession today (cheers Beemer :+1:) It’s no big secret that I have a bit of a leaning towards Le Hui. Depending on the blaster you get they make decent low to mid tier gear, usually nylon builds, occasionally ABS. Some great, some not so great.

The X-95 absolutely fits firmly into the latter category being a full ABS build, friction fit accessories, proprietry L-ion battery pack and pretty woeful FPS.

Which is not to say they’re bad… purchase price for this was around $85 with online discount, which is dirt cheap and a bit of a bargain. In all honesty, for the price of entry they’re fully worth it because… it’s a bullpup, the unit’s solid, it’s unusual and it has a lot of potential.

A very quick checkover and first thing… the “Ingrish” printed decals have to go. So out with the steel wool and metho and a bit of elbow grease later…

The next thing that had to go was the removable charging handle… you can see why

A bit of a reshape later and the pensioner’s todger is gone. I feel a whole lot better about yanking on that to prime a mag.

Next job was to attach some picatinny rails to the sides of the handguard… mainly to lose the Coke can look but handy for tacticool accessories.

Cosmetically for now, it can stay like it is, with cleaned up side pic rails of course. Maybe a coat of flat clear too to lose the ABS shine. It’s a pretty cool looking little blaster and as close as I’ll ever get to a Tavor. Add a Sig Romeo, vert foregrip and a tactical torch and it starts to look a whole lot better.

So when time allows I’ll be getting into the gearbox and see what can be done there. Initial chrono results were around 140FPS, pretty consistent with my expectations. The battery arrangement’s getting deep sixed too. Rewiring to XT30 will make it compatible with all my existing lipos.

I’m not expecting sheep stations out of it, the box in it isn’t going to be good. Gearsets may be proprietry and irreplaceable, so if I can get it up over 220FPS I’ll call it a win, but I’d like to see around 280. It’s not worth over-stressing it. :person_shrugging:

There’ll be more to come if you’re interested in seeing what we can squeek out of one of these little bullpups. :+1:

Looks heaps better, all dressed up.

220 should be easily acheivable.

260+… a good day…

Have fun.!

So looking at the gearbox and inner barrel setup, there’s nothing that can be done to boost the power of this little bullpup.

That tiny pistol sized gearbox would struggle with upgrades.

Proprietry everything, questionable gears, the fitted 15cm inner barrel is about as long as it can be for the volume of the cylinder, with a plastic outer barrel making up the difference to the flash hider… means no ability to fit a hop up either.

So a few touch ups here and there with black paint and it’ll be a cool wallhanger.

Black…??

What shade…???

Are you going to paint the whole thing black.?.?

i reckon the tan is pretty good…especially with the ingrish gone…

It can stay tan… with a flat clearcoat over the whole thing. :+1:

This thing that comes with the X-95… little Spitfire style muzzle flash device. Well, Le Hui call it a tracer unit.

Incredibly toy-like, multi coloured flash unit to simulate muzzle flash. Figured it’d end up in the “Bin of Bullshit” with the faux optic, but then I started thinking about actually making it useable.

Yes… that is a lid from a Masterfoods garlic salt bottle. build up the can with a little black tape and it’s a neat friction fit, removable for turning the unit on and off. Open up the centre hole to clear gels and blank off the outside holes to reduce the room illuminating peripheral flash to a manageable level and hopefully it’ll be enough to charge glow gels.

Testing that out tonight. :person_shrugging:

Absolutely final mod on the little bullpup.

Rewired to XT-30 so it can run all my lipo batterries that’ll fit.

The base of the OEM battery case when it’s disassembled makes a handy cover.

Tested it on 7.4v and 11.1v lipos, as I suspected, 11.1v was problematic on semi auto. Just a little too much mumbo and it tends to double tap or sometimes triple tap on the higher voltage. Too quick for whatever cut-off lever arrangement Le Hui have used.

Video or it didn’t happen…

On 7.4v…

On 11.1v…

So if you’ve got one of these and you’re happy to spray on full auto only, 11.1v gives a reasonable ROF. But it still only hits around 150FPS, so probably not worth the bother.

Ah well, at least it can run normal lipos now. :person_shrugging:

from Tan…to white…in the pics…!!

Back deck, voodoo, again…!!

glad you’re enjoying it…!!

Not a huge difference between 7 - 11 , so longevity on 7V would definitely be the safest option for sure!

Yeah, you can guarantee if it ever goes Chernobyl, there’ll be no available parts to fix it. It probably wouldn’t be worth it, tbh.

I honestly don’t know why I did what I did to it… I must have been bored. it’s such an underperformer it’ll never be used, not even for backyard plinking.

But it’s an interesting part of the history of our hobby and it looks cool… embrace them all, even the shitters!

Must be something built into our brains where no matter what it is that we have in our hands, we can’t help but NOT have a little tinker with!:joy:
