LeHui Kriss Vector V2 Mag Release Spring -Upgrades?

I love the old Vectors… I really do.

Every now and then I dust mine off, give it a new o ring and service and happily burst fire away at around 280FPS… it’s still a great blaster in my books.

The one thing I hate with a passion is the spring arrangement in the mag release assembly. It’s a lateral spring that is weak and the release button is super easy to accidentally push in if you grip the receiver the way you really want to… at that perfectly angled front. Then your mag’s on the deck.

Anybody figured out any kind of fix for this problem? Some kind of spring replacement maybe? I just run a vert grip so my hand’s well away from the release button, but it is pretty intuitive to just grip the receiver. :person_shrugging:

It is a gripe with the vector even in real steel.
They made it so it is very comfortable to hold, and put the mag release right there so it is easy to bump!

Run the double drum mag, then you really wont hold it there is how the wife and I have dealt with it.

I am working on a customers vector at the moment, and casually chipping away at another one for me and the wife…
How much vector is too much vector?

Going for the LMG/DMR build :rofl::rofl:

Can you get the spring out? Measure it up and try a beefier spring perhaps.

All I can think of. In a prick of a spot.

Maybe something here :man_shrugging: Steel compression Coil Coiled Spring SELECT sizes: | eBay Australia

I can get it out… I will.

It’s a janky arrangement if you recall… not a coil spring, just a bent bit of spring that doesn’t give much resistance on the button.

You’re right… shouldn’t be lazy. I need to pull it out and make up a stronger spring… hopefully.

Intetesting to note that the other version of the Vector with the metal gearbox has a much stiffer mag release. No way you’ll accidentally drop a mag out of that puppy. :person_shrugging:

Problem solved. Might be handy info for other Vector owners who are tired of unintentionally dropping mags. :person_shrugging:

For the KV uninitiated, the OEM mag catch arrangement is like this… you’d know if you ever fitted a blackout kit to a Vector.

Looking at it close up, easy to see the flimsy spring and catch bar.

Woefully weak and poorly designed. The rib that is on the receiver that prevents the spring from moving sideways is very high up, allowing a lot of spring doing the minimal work.

Easiest fix was to cut up a nylon block and glue it onto the receiver, effectively shortening the working part of the spring, preloading the catch bar a little more and stiffening up the button. You get the idea.

It would have been nice to replace the spring with a heavier item but the location holes in the receiver and catch bar don’t have enough meat around them to drill out.

All back together and working a treat. It now has about the same resistance at the button as an M4 running a coil spring.

While I was there I bored out the outer barrel to take a hopup and made it look a bit more Kriss correct… a knurled cap would be nice, but that’ll have to wait for now. Electrical tape and heatshrink does the job okay.

The Vector lives on! Good times! :sunglasses::+1:I

A little birdie told me,

LDT may be releasing a vector, next year…

“Cheep Cheep…!!”

Not really, start saving…

Interesting… but I won’t be looking for an LDT Vector. No point. :person_shrugging:

I’m more than happy with my OG Le Hui, acrylic gearbox and all. I reckon Le Hui got it right with this one. :+1:

No wonder everyone went nuts over them back in the day… build quality absolutely shat on the other offerings around at that time.

Yes, LDT gen2 vector due to release in China around February 2026.
CNC gearbox, Pro ETU, Solink brushless… None of it sounds cheap.
Will be the best part of a grand!

LDT is very much top tier blasters these days.

I am happy with my LeHuis, but for some an out of the box upgraded blaster will be right up their alley.
The main thing to note with LDT is the only upgrade you may want is a spring due to China’s M80 being maximum legal.

Oooof!

Then it’s a double no.

Yes for the tinkerers amongst us that don’t mind giving things a tickle it isn’t really aimed at that market.

Counts me out as it’s above the $600 glass ceiling!

But for those that just want to buy and use they will be quite happy to fork out for it.

And I am sure it has more potential and capabilities than stock as well.
