Mines better …
Now I better see a custom suppressor on that .44 you hear haha
Ok, doing the PPK Supp build up.
Xforce had a little stubby supp, it was 10 cm long, but too wide for the correct look…
I ended up using a 20 mm PVC pipe, for the most correct width…its a small narrow supp…
As per the BigMac, i went for the metal alignment rod down the centre, into the barrel, and supporting everything off that.
For proper alignment, it needs to have two points of support…front alignment and rear alignment.
REAR ALIGNMENT:
This involved screwing in the threaded adaptor, and building it up with tape, to be a firm fit inside the 20mm pvc. I had to use a LOT of tape to build it up.
This raises some concerns, screwing it on/ off, as the internal body is mostly tape, gripping tape.
To try to help give it more strength, when i filled with araldite, i pushed the supp ( and araldite) back over the thread, and pulled it forward again.
This was to try to get a coat of araldite, over the outside of the threaded adaptor, and sealing within the pvc pipe.
This seemed to mostly work…and be uniformly tapered, and thus aesthetically pleasing…
FRONT ALIGNMENT:
For the front, nothing needed to be glued in.
The build up, was purely all about being a shape maintainer, while it all sets…
Kinda like the stents, currently in my nose…!!
Mark the position on the rod, at the correct length
Build it up , with tape…
With another black adaptor, its now a snug fit, to hold the aligned position, as it dries…
Also, raised the body of the blaster, so there are no lateral leans, and its all the spacers holding it straight…
Now, just let it all dry over night.
This shows the Xforce supp, is too wide and bulky to use…
It might be a little long, but i can always trim it shorter.
I have some washers of different diameter, i’ll see which is the best fit, for getting gels through…a shorter supp length would help, though it should be pretty straight…
It will always be one of those ones, never screw it on/off too hard…but it should be fine…
Looking great mate and very interesting to seeing your work.
Looking good there, BME. Like I always say, there’s always a way, amazing how you can get by and work around not having a lathe. Most of my supps are PVC tube pressed onto a turned down flash hider, painted flat black with a bung in the end of them.
PPK supp…almost done.
Trimmed 1cm off the end, painted it black…a bit splotchy…sanded down and repainted…
I dont think you’d buy a supp, the correct length and width, off the shelf…
Alignment is good, thanks to the alignment rod and supports…
Spins on / off with minimal wobble.
Just gotta close the end now.
I have a few washers, that almost do it…
The silver one, is just smaller than pvc diameter, so it doesn’t protrude.
Problem is, the hole is smaller, and some gels shatter…
The other one, is slightly larger than the pvc pipe.
It does protrude, but gels pass through ok…
Just need a lathe, to reduce the diameter of the larger one…
@Friendly_Fire , when are you getting yours.??!
Use a file, ya lazy bugger…
as if i’d get it round…or smooth…!!
C’mon, man… get some blisters on your fingers… it’s good for the soul.
Do you wanna see the one I knocked up for my MP5K this morning?
No lathe… just files, a hacksaw, some PVC tube, tape, glue and paint. All you need, young padawan.
I’d suggest using the smaller washer inside the PVC tube and running a length tube the same ID as the washer ID inside the supp so it’s a clear flightpath for the gel.
Allows you to keep the hole at the muzzle end of the supp small for a very uber tactical look.
When you buy one, make that two I need one thanks. 4th isle at Bunnings, don’t forget my onion
A lot of the suppressors you’d buy instore run a centre tube. The Osprey for example.
I seem to remember Bradley Phillips having an issue with a supp for an MP7… gels exploding against the front cap because… no centre tube. His solution was to leave the front cap off the supp, but that didn’t look good.
Bingo… because I don’t need more characters
I might need to remake the supp…
Which the tape build up, on the barrel adaptor…I didn’t cut the excess off.
Now it’s buried deep inside, glued and sealed…creating an obstruction.
I should have trimmed it back, to nut-length ( like my new term??), so there was no excess…
A bit hard to get to it now…
Oh well, the adaptor is cheap…
Maybe I just use this one as a aesthetic display one…
Put the small narrow end cap on, and paint it…
Worry about functionality for the remake…
All 140 fps , of it…!
Well that’s tomorrows job. Keep at it you’ll get there in the end
Did you use the 9"
