Shit… this thread’s been dead since the end of March. Isn’t anybody buying anything? Beemer? I’ll fire it up again.

Picked up a P90 V4 from Oz Gel & Tactical today, because I do love a P90 and the V4 having semi is a clincher for me. Stock’s getting low of them too.

Interesting comparing it to the old V3 though… build quality is similar, slightly better on the later mode but for every improvement there seems to be a backwards step.

The magazine retention is very solid in the V3 with it’s side actuated catch. Locks in tight, doesn’t move.

The V4 has a different retention mechanism, not as tight and relies on a large round moulded boss on the bottom of the mag engaging with a corresponding hole in the blaster to line up the feed tube to the t piece. Problem is, the diameter of the boss is a fair bit smaller than the diameter of the locating hole, so there’s a fair bit of sideways mag movement when it’s home. Not a deal breaker but a little annoying. Brain’s already ticking over on that problem.

The other difference is the battery storage… the V3 has a small compartment on the bottom of the blaster with a sliding cover. That meant restrictionss to battery size but convenient nonetheless. The V4 has the battery compartment in the rear, accessed by a sliding buttcap. Slightly bigger space but nothing dramatic. So what’s the problem with that you ask?

Well, you probably didn’t ask but I’m going to tell you anyway.

I think you can see the problem. The harness I have will only work with the V3, it’d be on and off every battery swap on the V4, a real PITA. On the upside though spring changes are a piece of piss… off with the buttcap, out with the spring. That’s a great feature.

Still, even with those foibles I’m very happy with it. Semi auto feature means it can be used at any indoor venue, something you couldn’t say about the full auto V3.

Honestly though, aside from that, the older V3 is still viable and better in some ways. If you’re not hung up on semi auto (which clearly I am ) there’s nothing wrong with saving a buck and going for the OG P90.

I regret selling my p90 V3… and been interested in the V4 for semi, and I’m told the gearbox and mags are better for feeding, with a slightly larger battery area.

Will be following this with great interest.

I have several recent purchases, most are projects and I’m hoping to do videos on them when I’m back.

Most are second hand, or ex-demos/dead stock.

I did get a couple of new blasters that I am very lucky to have gotten too!

Some of you might have seen my honey badger video… it’s painted, needs a little fettle with the nozzle and tpiece and a hopup. But it’s cracking!

Bought cheap missing parts, jammed a CNC box in it with t238 quality ETU, some well used 13:1 gears that had been in a few builds now, and the 31k Solink brushless… just over 30rps and around 310fps.

Has the occasional misfeed though if I run it over a 5 round burst due to not quite enough space to feed… new tpiece, nozzle, and printed spacer are a little different to my previous go to setup of an MK box.

Paint isn’t quite finished yet, I have plans to put a few cheeky details to it yet.

i ordered 3 mags from townsville, and they still had stock listed.

No doubt you’ll follow the cut down mag transpalnt.
The Other mag i’ll use is a JM J11 AK47 mag ( i hobby).
The smooth one, it has a bit less curvature than a stamped AK47 Mag.
But more curvature than the standard mag.

Should be a larger capacity, than the standard mag.

Although I have a sneaky suspicion I may have been a victim of the old switcheroo as I noticed a bit of built up dust on the handguard and couple of other spots as well as some surface rust on the top part of the hinge of the folding stock as well as a discolouration on the end of the stock, possibly mould so I may have been snuck the display model on the sly, or it could have been from sitting in the box in a dampish area of the backroom

Who knows for sure? Certainly not I but I have had experiences with dodgey sellers before, not saying m4a1 Nambour is, I just mean I know people are capable of many things and don’t always have honourable intentions

Just a minor suspicion as my sig has been used for the last couple of years and has no rust spots and hasn’t accumulated anywhere near as much dust, pretty much none to be honest

Good to know the Townsville store still has spare mags, I’ll probably grab one

As for the mag conversion, maybe, maybe not, I have a few projects to get onto before taking on something like a mag conversion, I have insufficient tools or expertise to go that far yet

Also picked up a cheap m97 for the young fella for $20 but it has issues and doesn’t fire every time that I’ll need to look into as well, probably just something misaligned, I hope anyway

They did have piles of stuff from other stores that closed sent to them, and having no air con it gets mighty humid in there through summer! Seen many people walk in with the intent of spending time and money and asking questions etc only to have the heat and humidity get to them and then just go fuck it it gives me that I’m out of here I’m dying lol

Shame you didn’t spot it at time of sale could have used it to talk the price down a bit maybe.

At the time when I went I there were none but a 552 that was pretty ordinary condition. Must have found more afterwards. I’ve seen the storage there, it’s not ideal.

They only have one staff member working there on any day, so sifting through the stock inheritance from their other closed stores between customers is not really something they can focus on.

Anyway… He knows me too well, and found me a few things I couldn’t say no to. I did spend way more than I expected but you’ll see in time and understand why!

If I didn’t take them there and then I would have regretted it, so the deal was done! In fact, this has happened too many times to me in the last couple months, I need to lay off the spending a bit!

@RokSolid I think we saw the 552 you mention… was offered to Beemer in place of the new one with the janky ambi for another $50 off.

Didn’t look good… lots of corrosion and some weird spaff stuck to the metal receiver upper. Might have cleaned up, might not have… not worth rolling the dice though.

@shadow187 The M97’s a good one to get stuck into… should be an easy job for you. Nerf technology in a 260FPS manual gel blaster. I have one disassembled and put aside for spare parts… everything but the cup seal and spring. So if you find anything broken in it, sing out.

LOL! She isn’t really ever impressed with it, but understands I am a tightarse at heart and usually put loads of work in to getting something cheaper. I rarely buy brand new and almost never pay full price for anything. Patience is key. Both for me and her!
