Removing the safety??
Brandon Herrera would be throwing a fit over that!!
Clearly the mount’s not 100% correct for a 1911… why not do some Dremel re-engineering and keep the safety?
Either notch the bracket to accomodate the safety or grind down the safety lever a bit to suit the bracket… or both. Simples!
Either way, it’s definitely a DIY job. Don’t have to disassemble to do that.
Unless you’re happy contributing to Vas’s end of year Christmas party.

its an ambi safety…
it’ll still be there and work…just on the other side.
i would rather remove the lever on the left, keep it on the right, rather than damage the left lever.
which means pulling it apart…me no likey…
Was about to suggest the above after pouring all the above. Needs a lil adjustment by the looks.

the safety on the AW model, is far longer than the original harballer it was designed for.
Thats why its in the way.
You would have to remove a LOT of lever to have it clear.
And, even then the mount stops you from acessing the safety anyway.
Better to leave the safety unmolested ( 9inch grinder, im looking at you…!!), just remove it and keep it original.
Safety on RHS.
I seem to remember thats what @PAB did…

i’ll have to figure out which silver i used on the 3d laser…
it came up quite well, as a faux metal result.
I tried a few different shades of tamiya silver…
Hi-Ho silver…away…!!
I’m not a fan of ambi safety etc. Too complicated. More bs to eff up.
Should be able to remove the left side via a screw. But I’m not sure. Might need some fettling.

Note to self…
silver.
TS-17…and light tamiya smoke.
I might try that on grace’s sig…the light gun metal finish ain’t great…
I’d seriously just rework the mount to fit the pistol… like the manufacturer should have done.
It’s only a prop, afterall and It’s going to look weird with the left hand lever off. Pretty sure you need it there to keep everything together.
But… not my circus, not my monkeys.

hard to see in the photos…but…
you’d need to remove a LOT of material, from the mount.
Leaving it very thin, weakened, and liable to break.
Not good.
if i can get a shorter replacement safety…good
if i need to remove the lever ( and modify nothing)… i can live with that.
@PAB … what did you do.? Remove the lever.?
Dremel trim it down champ as far as I can tell from pics.
Soz busy at work.
How does that mount?

Options are…
remove the left ambi lever
replace left ambi lever with shorter one
cut existing lever down.
I would rather keep the mount unmarked, and the original lever untouched…if you ever want to put it back on.
Lever the Lever alone…!!
you gotta cut off a lot of lever…this model has a longer stylised lever.
Easiest thing to do, is get a shorter replacement.
Spare parts etc, from a old broken one…
Options are… you replace the lower part/flame with a classic 1911 like me , save you a lot of work. It is look more closer to a AMT Hardballer

Whale Oil Beef Hooked…!!
The GE 1911 fits and cycles with the AW slide…!!
Differerent silvers though… matte vs shiny…
But, it works.!!
pic to come.
Yes, any WE /AW classic 1911 lower flame will fit with the AW slide ( remember it have to have a short safety lever). And Congratulations for having this wonderful laser kit.

Hmmm…
this WE tech 1911 is non shiny…but… i really dont wanna be buying a new pistol, just for this…
the cheapest thing to do, is swap the lever over…
And the grips would have to fit properly, too…

Okay , here we go…
Does Arnie need more bling in his life.!??
Had to do something, with @maiphuts gold bar…
AW slide, on GE frame. GE is quite shiny…contrasting to AW flat.
Add the laser… 3 different shades of silver.
A bit of a bitsa…
A bit more pronounced in this shot…

Drop in and talk to Brad. They’ll probably have a short ambi safety among their parts trove that will fit
