SUPREME COURT OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA, Ruling, Gel Blasters INVAILD

Much of the WA campaign was off the backs of the national Gelbaster Association and the great work done by Peter Clark RIP😢

G’day,

New member to the forum here. Im from Perth and was wondering after all this lobbying is there a realistic chance of gel blasters being legalized? I think it’s stupid how anyone can purchase a denix replica over the counter but no a gel blaster.

Im a student filmmaker and gel blasters were the only cheap alternative for prop weapons and now Im shelling out $400+ for a single pistol replica.

Is there any chance of them being made legal, or is the future for gelblasters in WA looking pretty bleak.

Welcome to the Forum @Aqwa , great to have you here :+1:
Head over to the ā€œIntroduce yourselfā€ thread and feel free to tell us even more about yourself and what you are looking for with this hobby :sunglasses:

I have been deeply involved in the whole legal shit fight since day one, and to give you a very short answer… there’s absolutely no chance of a change in legislation unless the current Labour Party majority gets voted out in future elections :disappointed:

Chances of that happening are extremely thin, as they are all in the pockets of the mining giants that run this State and fund our corrupt politicians :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

The good news is that there’s probably quite a few people in WA who have ā€œdecommissionedā€ Gelblasters, such as myself, which meet the legal criteria of being nothing more than fully legal Replica Firearms :+1:

I still have a few different decommissioned models, along with many boxes of parts that could possibly be hobbled together to recreate a few different model empty shell replicas… so if you need a hand piecing something together for your needs, just let me know and I can see if I can help you out :+1:

I’m about an hour south of Perth if you are keen to catch up for a chat in person, otherwise it’s unfortunate that pretty much all other WA based members here have disappeared since the bans :worried:

Is there a marketplace that sells decommissioned gel blasters? Say I was to purchase broken ones from over east, would they risk being seized by customs?

Cheers

There’s absolutely no market for second hand/decommissioned Gelblasters in WA, because all us poor saps sold or destroyed whatever Gelbasters were in our posession at the time without considering decommissioning them instead, and any attempt to get a Gelbaster sent from QLD/SA to WA is gonna catch interest from the Authorities regardless if it’s just an empty shell or not :face_exhaling:

It’s not impossible though, as long as the seller in a legal state makes the necessary work to strip the Blaster of all functional parts before shipping, which is simply the inner barrel, gearbox internals, wiring, motor and DEFINITELY no Gels!

If anything gets picked up in transit, as long as it’s completely non functional, it’s still fully legal as a replica firearm being sent into WA and CANNOT be seized by Customs or the Police :+1:

This just gave me an idea. There are files online for mock V2 gearboxes, used for dimensions to model parts around.

You could, in theory, 3D print these as a sort of core that the rest of the receiver, grip and stock could attach to like they normally would giving the shell more rigidity and also allowing things like magazines to function with no other parts needed or modified.

Not that that helps the situation as a whole but would allow such things as props and display pieces.

Great thinking mate :+1:
The only need for the gearbox I’ve found is to have something to attach a trigger to finish the looks of the Blaster, not so much as to have something to hold the receiver together… which I’m still yet to do with a couple of my stripped out favourites.

They might look the goods, but in reality if you look closely, they’re just a collection of incomplete loose parts simply sitting together not even attached properly to create a replica firearm shell :worried:

As @Aqwa stated, we have no appearance laws and full DENIX type replica firearms are completely legal with no laws whatsoever against owning such things… which is why I’m so pissed that I got rid of so much of my collection not thinking that I could have simply ā€œdecommissionedā€ them as a Gelbaster and kept the rest as a non functional replica :face_exhaling:

Wouldn’t be too difficult to work a trigger into it, even with a spring so it moves

I wonder how much crime they’ve stopped banning gel blasters? If i remember correctly didn’t they find a guy with a bunker full of actual firearms and even a 50cal? You know I’d be more concerned about how ppl get their hands on that sort of thing in Aus than grown kids running around with electric toys guns, except those doing it in public they need a whack over the head.

There wasn’t any ā€œcrimeā€ to stop regarding Gelblasters
That arrogant lying Papsmear quoted Gelbaster ā€œincidentā€ numbers from the WHOLE of Australia in his campaign to scare people into getting them banned here :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

When we researched the ACTUAL incidents involving Gelbasters in WA, there was only 3 that were found involving criminal activity and a small handful of incidents where the public had called the Police over kids playing with them in public.

In true form, one incident the whole TRG rolled upon 3 or 4 kids playing in a deserted nature reserve and footage was released to the public.

This was another attempt to make them look as dangerous as possible to the general public.

Truth is, it’s rediculous to think that young kids would be running around with REAL AR’s and AK’s here in Australia.

Typical heavy handed Police use of force where not a drop of common sense ever came into the thought process before acting so harshly.

Luckily they weren’t old Grannies in a Walking Frame holding onto an Apple Peeler…then they would have been in REAL trouble :astonished:

The guy with the bunker full of gear was a shady Underworld character, ex Boxer and Promotor…if you get the picture, and much of what they found was all Legal and Licensed anyways

That review video Brad had done on the press release when they announced the ban was the only time I saw Brad actually break in laughter it was such a joke too.

As you said, complete lack of common sense and pure fear mongering by police.

Reviewing his Cock blaster and having to get it registered and serialised was probably the only other time that @BradleyPhillipsYT was battling to hold back a mighty laugh too I reckon

Sabre decommissioned m60’s to make them legal to sell as replicas to licensed individuals in states that require it. Might be a long shot but could potentially get in contact with them and if there’s enough interest they might decommission more models and sell them off.

Cheers for the information mate :+1:
Will look into it out of interest to see what the deal is.

Hope you doing well Squiddy :sunglasses:

ha this popped up on my feed today, little bit old at this point but very much gets the point across

The Supreme Court of Western Australia’s ruling on the gel blaster ban highlights how legal challenges can address perceived injustices in legislation. By declaring the ban invalid, it not only restores a recreational activity but also sets a precedent for other states to contest similar regulations, reflecting broader issues of injustice.

Yes, we WON the Legal fight in WA in the Supreme Court decision, but that smug arsehole Papalia just said ā€œI don’t care what the Judges decide, I’ll just change the Laws insteadā€. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

mm I remember that one, even my elderly mother could not believe it. Not that she’s a gellballer but she said a few choice words. I said believe it is happening.
