I liken it to the trade “deals” he did with Indonesia and Japan - lowering of tariffs (that their own consumer pays) in exchange for market access for their cars (which no one in Japan or Indonesia is going to buy).
It is political. Yes you are correct but it is Biosecurity which I have to adhere to and do no problems.
But America does not, we had a deal with Mc’Donalds to import our higher quality beef to mix in with higher fat content their higher fat content shit. But they were complaining about not being able to send it here.
A: we produce more than enough to feed all of Australia 6 times over
B: we do not need it

When its allowed in, will US beef be any cheaper.?

There’s no doubt, we produce some of the best meats in the world.
I imagine shipping costs from the US, and the exchange rate (tarriffs) would blow the price up.
Will it be significantly cheaper, than our meats.?
And, lets not forget, some people will boycott US meats, out of spite for trump, and favour our farmers.

Plenty of chat traffic about the US beef deal last night on the news.
Most seem to agree it’s a pointless action as the US consume more beef than they produce and we produce more than we consume. So the rule of supply and demand will probably mean US beef won’t sell here anyway.
Just have to make sure the beef you buy is Aussie sourced so we support our local industry and we don’t end up doing what we always seem to do.
Export our quality resources and then import lower quality equivalents at inflated prices.
