You know, it’s funny. I was looking at a map recently, that detailed the most stable countries worldwide. It was based on the likelihood to see revolutionary overthrow of the government.
Most of Africa, Indonesia, East Europe etc was as unstable as you’d expect. Russia was surprisingly likely to go.
The UK and US strangely enough were not the most secure shades of green. They were 1 grade lower than the best.
Only Australia, NZ, Scandanavia and Canada were the most stable colour. But if you think about it the “why” is kind of scary. Scandanavia’s “why” is pretty benevolent. They’re happy there, there’s no reason to rise up. NZ is the same. The government is sane and headed by statesmen, not corporate mouthpieces.
But Australia and Canada, I think it’s just because we dare not do anything. Our political action is so milquetoast. We allow ourselves to ban protesting, and civil disobedience, because it’s inconvenient as we go to work. We don’t lift a finger about it. We vote, and pray. It’s frustrating. I’m guilty, too.
I wish I knew what to do. Violence and rioting obviously isn’t the answer. Not only for the obvious moral reasons, but it doesn’t work. Voting doesn’t work. Yelling on Reddit or Twitter or whatever obviously doesn’t work.
The fuck is there?
Democracy truly is the worst form of government that has been tried. Except for all the others.
