Typically that boing sound after a shot indicates that the spring is too short, which is pretty common on stock blasters. Also if the spring has been compressed for long times can happen too.
I always grab a 7.4v that is weak and give a shot to release the piston before storing. It can only help, also takes load off the anti reverse latch.
