Thompson V2 review..(or, your wanted on the Al Capone..!)

so I noticed almost everywhere is sold out of the cheaper alternative Hanke Thompson’s

also noticed the GBU edition which is sold out only has an 7.4v battery included and boasts 270fps and an upgraded spring

one vendor has it listed as JinMing not Hanke, boasting 250fps on an 11.1v but it appears to be the exact same Thompson, they still have some in stock.

spewing I didn’t buy a second one for myself tho, may have to go the xforce version if I can’t snag another of the Hanke/JinMing ones

If they sold out, that quickly,
there is a pretty fair chance they’ll get more in.

If they are out of stock, and demand is still high (phone calls etc)
They will know there is still enough demand to sell more.

Not surprising, with cost of living etc…
The “budget priced range” sells well…ie thommy, mp5-k etc.

They should concentrate at bringing out more models in that price range, and sell volume rather than $650 pistols etc…

Yep, the cheaper ones sell out fast.

Good example of that is the $154 MP5Ks at TacToys… all gone now.

No doubt helped along by the high profile they got from the discourse on here. :joy:

I remember the F2000s sold out superfast back in the day because forum members were buying multiples.

I’m just curious why this other vendor has it listed as JinMing and not Hanke… as far as I can tell it’s the same one, no difference visually, just that it’s putting out 250fps as opposed to the tactoys one that was only hitting 200fps, upgraded spring at the least I’d imagine

doubtful it’s two different Thompson’s, perhaps mislabeled?

Mislabeled.
Happens all the time.

Looks like. Simple spring upgrade can yield some good results, so there’s hope…

Like xforce, nylon gearbox, so you’ll be limited to a M100 spring.

Still mine did 340 fps, so…

But yours was done up by somebody that knows what they are doing with a few dollars. To get the context clear :+1:

This is true, but the result was achieved from “standard upgrades”

The upgrades done, on both the pulse rifle and thommy were fairly sedate.

from memory, new barrel, metal gears, new piston, cylinder head and nozzle, orings.

Wiring was already fine, for 11v.

So, standard stuff.

The Pulsie got better fps because of the longer barrel, it was a double bell they had lying around, which was a near perfect fit. M100 spring , because of the nylon box.

When the new one gets pulled apart, i reckon i’ll keep the metal gears, and do similar upgrades as above.
Maybe a new barrel, maybe not depending on length.

If it gets around 320-330 fps, that will be good enough…

For sure more than enough and last longer. :+1:

The harder you run the less they last, but if you know that and are handy on the tools and enjoy it then go for it I say :+1:

I remember Ray talking about that kit when he was working on it, showed me the Chrono and was like " I don’t know how but it works" :joy:

some good news for anyone who missed out, ihobby is planning to get more stock in soon :+1:t2:

ah let me guess your playing on Discord and fuckbook  :+1:

nah I just hit up ihobby chat service on their website lol

Cool I’m joking. One thing though at least iHobbys work unlike some other across the pond place seems to not

it’s weird because I found another one that’s got the same everything in it that carries a different brand name again, GQH

looks identical, from what I can tell has the same internals, everything

So theres the Hanke, JinMing and the GQH M1A1 Thompson’s… yet they appear to be the exact same blaster

(I mean obviously because they’re all model Thompson’s but you know what I mean :joy:)

Yeah they like to confuse you…

Bing Feng SCAR MK17 is also sold under the name Ming Dynasty… same blaster.

You have to be careful though… sometimes these suckers look identical on the outside but are very different internally and in construction.

Jin Ming MP5K and the LDT version are a great example of that. Identical on the outside, and that’s about where the similarity ends. :man_shrugging:

Wood would be nice…but…

I’m pretty wary of GBB rifles…

Potential leaks, lower performance, limited upgrade capacity, expensive and leaky mags, mags of limited capacity, lack of parts further down the track…

If thats your thing, go for it, but im not really keen.

Pricewise, in this economy, the big sellers are proven to be the $200 mark value AEG’s…

I have played with a few mates gbbrs and they are cool yes… Not $700-$1500 of cool though… and then mags are close to $200 each.
So really it’s gbbrs plus about 500 worth of mags! Unless I could skirmish effectively with it I am not interested. And really the only place they are remotely competitive is cqb. And gas pistols are just better for cqb imo. Way more maneuverable and easier to get through tight spots. And I already have a heap of pistols and mags to suit.

They are cool to play with though would only plink at home with them. I’d much rather buy a 200-400 dollar blaster and tinker with it. They say less is more… but more is more… and I want more! Lol

I get the appeal of GBBR… but then again, I don’t.

More realistic feel, sure… also more maintenance, more wear, more cost of replacement parts when they do, more reloading, more expensive extra mags (which you absolutely have to have for gameplay), more outlay for gas and the most important one, more outlay to buy one in the first place.

I’ve pulled the trigger on BME’s Sten AEG and as far as realism goes it’s every bit as visceral an experience as any GBB.

Cudos to the afficionados that love them and skirmish with them though. Me, I’d rather load up 200 gels into an AEG and go skirmish with that. I’d prefer to spend my time enjoying the gameplay rather than constantly reloading magazines or looking at my loadout and thinking “Wow, I’ve got 5 GBBR mags in my rig… that’s about a grand’s worth of gear.” :man_shrugging:

I was under the impression that GBB blasters were supposed to be more powerful than EBB :flushed:

at least that’s what I was led to believe from the lad at work who’s into them
