Seriously? $3.5K for a gel blaster? Obviously more than just a “toy”… but puts our long standing argument about them being “just toys” in a rather tenuous position, don’t you think

For me, $3.5k was too expensive…
1: for an item, which for me, was Not a " I simply must, must have this".
2: Takes up a huge amount of space to display
3: I’d just handed over exorbidandt sums, over to the ATO, with my quarterly payments.
When i spoke to WAT, they said they had only brought in literally about 5/6 items. 2 went to a movie prop production company, down the coast. Apparently they are making a netflix ww2 show, took 2 m1919’s and wanted a batch of M1 carbines.
For a movie buisness like that, the cost of those two would be a tax deduction / operating expense…and can be re-used on other shows in the future.
And, it would have earnt them money.
Wat literally had only 1 or 2 available to the general public, which dissappeared quickly, even at the steep price.
As ‘Mr $30 000 at collect-a-con’ proves, there are people out there with the $$, and the desire to spend it on their " unique thang".
We might scoff at spending $30k on batman comics or whatever it was…but it was obviously valued enough by him…and he had the means to do it…so, good luck to him…!!
Had one M1919 remained available several weeks later, not selling at the high price… i may have made a silly offer…but i figured that wouldn’t happen, and i was correct…
And, displaying it … you literally need a table just for it.
The tripod is big and wide, and takes up a lot of space in three dimensions.
At least the M60 / PKM / ZB-26’s are just long…but narrow.
The final price wasn’t unexpected to be honest…
$969 US to buy one new…thats $1500 AUD just to buy one.
Then, cost of conversion, shipping, import fees, adding a profit etc…
I was expecting at least $3k, for a price.
So, all we can do now, is keep your eyes peeled for…
