What Did You Get Up To Today?

Not like this legend :+1:

Uggghhh… what a day…

1: mums pioneer amp blew up…7 years old…everything is on one circuitboard, parts not available, throw it away…$550 for a new one… its hooked into her tv / stereo / record player for old songs etc, so its needed…

2: Fall alarm / monitor for mum… who is now furniture walking / higher falls risk.
Long story short, Govt will contribute some money to it ( System cost is near $1k)… but… you need to be assessed by a Occupational therapist.

This needs a referral code ( got that), and a service provider able to see her.
Guess what…all of them are at full capacity / can’t see new people…so the system stops…no monitoring ( apart from my cameras)…

3: Mums tennants, Havent had any water bills for the past 4 years.
Due to bills not being passed on. Now they are.
A big gift…several thousand $ of free water their way. Should be grateful.

Instead, now cracking it because they have to pay water…and dont like having inspections every 4 months.
Cancelled an inspection 2morrow, because they " Have Gastro"…

Despite being about $110 per week below market rates, they are looking for other properties, and may break their lease…

4: spending all day on the phone, my telstra landline… the service is crap.
It gets crackly/ breaks up… calls incomplete due to lost and broken speech.
Greatly increases stress / repetition communicating.

Pay full price, for a lesser ( unnaceptable) service.
They’ve closed the local office, ring up the hotline to report the fault…

wait on hold …forever… for nothing…rage hang up with no report!
Good way to ā€œminimise workloadā€

Over it…!! :rage: :rage: :rage:

Spent the day chasing a coolant leak. Renewed hose and hose clamps, resealed fittings and bungs - still leaked.

Finally traced to hairline crack in the inlet manifold. Guess 50 year old parts can wear out eventually.

Almost as frustrating as setting pinion height when the baseplate doesn’t have an adjustment screw

Been through the NDIS stuff with my brother. They reckon he didn’t need the fall down alarm. Luckily someone found him after he had been on the floor for 4 days because his leg failed.

They appear to want to prioritise the easy money making recipients over those that really need help

4 days… lucky to have survived that…

Thats my big fear, for mum…
A fall in the bathroom, and no-one knows…dies of dehydration…

its the way with My Aged Care…they are like a north korean grocery store…

All window dressing, but no stock…

" Yes, yes , we have lots of services available for help, here have a code…"

(go to redeem it)
" Sorry, no spaces / people / capacity/ money/ services available…try again in 6 months…"

:rage: :rage: :rage:

Why do we pay taxes, again.?.?!

Welcome to my world. I got my Mum sorted with a new printer as the 8yo one shit the bed.

I’ve been on hold for hours this year… no cunt answers

Just for fun…
Took an Audi RS-3 for a test drive….

Hubba Hubba…!!

They sound horn, and pull like a freight train…!!

0-100 in 3.65 seconds…
Beat the BMW M2 record at Nurburgring, by 5 seconds

Doesn’t hurt to dream…

But have you been in a LX SS hatchback that pulls 10 second quarter mile hitting 320klm/hr

Blew a modern Ducati 1188 motorbike off in a drag race.

That was fun had the LX sideways at 260klm/hr. Held it and sank the slipper back into it.

New queen mattress…

Old one is 15+ years old…sore back inducer.

Online shopping is useless…with mattresses, you need to lay down and test em…

Thankfully , north lakes has that covered.

Not cheap though….but a decent one will last a long time…

Found a winner, first store… saves the multi store drive around…!!

Started painting some of the bulpup ar conversion parts untill my spray booth decided to say screw you and died with only one coat into something thats going to take mutiple coats to get done and a reprint for missing parts that i broke, need more white filament first since it saves on doing a base coat.

Talk about pricing yourself out of a job…

LG artcool 5KW aircond…stylish mirror finish unit…15+ yrs old, but minimal use.
Having problems turning on…clicking on startup/ not blowing air.

Rang up the LG technician, and described the problem.
They checked for parts availability…Some common parts are available.
So, a repair could be possible.

Other option, $3000.00 for new replacement / removal/ new install.

Their price, to just come out and inspect it.?.?
$800.00…

Your Absolutely Joking, right.?!!

Thankfully, ive found a workaround fix, to get it going…jiggle the mirror louvre when its open.

That seems to jiggle the microswitches (something switch like, is clicking inside), and it then starts up…

What a rip…!!

There you go, that $800 you just saved will cover that new blaster from x-force :joy:

$3000 saved , will cover even more…!!

Then…Crack.!!!.. Aircond breaks.!!

They obviously DONT want to do the job…

Yes, we can do it… at almost the price of a new one.
$800 for an inspection, $1000 on ā€˜parts’ , and another $1000 to come back and fix it…

We’d rather save the bother…and just sell you a new one…

Thank Goodness, i found the work-around fix.
It works every time, so far…

Just goes to show nothing’s built to last anymore, it’s all set up to fail easily to keep them having to come back and fix it whilst charging the earth for the repairs

At least it’s lasted 15 years so far…and hopefully a few more yet.
But it’s had an easy life.

If it does need replacement, i’ll only go a decent brand.

Panasonic / Mitsubishi electric ( not mitsubishi heavy industries) / Fujitsu.

The price of an install is expensive…at least the better brands have a longer warranty.

I don’t trust any of the chinese branded stuff to go the distance…Bunnings A/C is a no go for me…

I really like the mirror finish too…
Got a matching 2.5 kw mirror finish, in the bedroom as well.
Mirror finish is no longer available…

Yeah it does look pretty schmick

Mitsubishi are the only brand, to make stylish aircon now…

Black/ red/ silver units…

The rest are just vanilla white units…

Funny thing is, they don’t display em, at Hardly normal, good guys etc…
I saw the mirror ones, years ago, on display and that was enough for me.

Not even that much more expensive…
