All this goes to show, what matches under one lighting, wont match under another…
SMS Blaster brown, is the bottled stuff i have.
It looks a better match, under darker conditions , but not so good under sunlight.
The archive X, looks to be a better all around match, but not perfect.
Trying to match olive drab, well…
At the end of the day, your chasing unicorns and rainbows.
I think it’ll ultimately be a matter of…
Pick a colour your happy with, and dont look back.
The problem is…stopping yourself…!!
I bought some $5 stocks from Vipertac, to practise spraying on.
We can mix up some batches, and try it on disposable . rounded surfaces, with slots in it.
Hopefully, will make life a little easier, rather than looking at flat timber…
For shits’n’gigs, here’s a comparison photo of my unfinished OD green Nerf M41A above BME’s Snow Wolf. Obvious differences for Nerf aside, Hasbro really didn’t do too bad a job. Still some detail painting and weathering to do on it yet.
I spent a fair amount of time trying to replicate the’Brown Bes’ colour, but it’s practically impossible. With lighting in both film, room and outside it changes dramatically.
In the end I got rattle cans that were close enough for me…
The problem with having your SW M41A here for paint is that the longer I’m looking at it, the more I have to resist the temptation to run down to North Lakes and blow some serious coin on one. which is why it’s mostly in it’s box.
Bloody beautiful movie replica piece if nothing else.
