What is it? An extra dong?
I get the appeal of 3D printing, I do.
But in my view there are levels of 3D printing. There’s the start from nothing approach where you sit at a desktop and design from scratch, create your own files, then print. Hat’s off to those who do that, and there are more than a few on here that do.
Then there’s the pay for and dump the file that’s precreated online and print.
Both very valid for a given application, but with the second option you’re not really creating anything. Someone else did the CAD work, your printer did the rest. Sure, you post process and paint, but it’s not your creation.
Maybe it’s my age showing, I came from a pre-digital generation that had to fabricate whatever was wanted from nothing and I still prefer to take a base build and add all sorts of parts and greebles to it old school… firing your imagination with random objects that come from anywhere and using them to add detail and interest. It takes your creativity in directions you’d never otherwise have thought of and you end up with something truly unique and bespoke.
Anyway, rambling a little due to a moosehead from last night’s brewskis.
FF signing off until the Panadol kick in.
I should learn how to cad in fusion 360.
Sounds like you have a tale to tell…
Do elaborate, for the greater good…!
You are not the only one. I’m nuts and bolts, hammers, spanners and grinders. Same pre digital bs.
Bridgeport baby gets shit done.
Btw Panadol does jack shit for me, need brains for that
Whale oil bee fooked…
That’s me done then
10W40 works good
@BME I don’t like to bag out any techs or retailers based on just my experience… It was a long time ago and as they don’t have a storefront my experience no longer applies?
The first time I was there, they had what I needed but their attitude didn’t blow my skirt up.
We all have off days so, whatever.
The second time, all I will say is it stands as the only time I have had a shit experience at a gel blaster store. It was nothing to do with me, rather their treatment of the customer in front of me! I Bought my things and left… drove an hour there and back to get it, and the whole drive home I was “a bit irate” from the experience.
Even more so when I got home and found the thing a bought was not brand new, and more ex-display condition.
Ok, that makes sense…
Obviously i’m not the first person, its happened too…
Like Bobs RC cars…“repackaging 2nds”, is a buisness practise turned too…
It is a tough industry, with a tough sell.
Selling, low quality, cheaply made blasters, and trying to stand behind your buisness with pride.
You KNOW the $100 blasters WILL break, its just a matter of when…and if its outside the 30 day warranty. It would certainly drive “casual gamers- parents/kids” off the hobby.
And leads to practises of getting products out the door, and refusing claims wherever possible. Thats the part that would kill me. Looking them in the eyes, and finding reasons to say " your fault, too bad, we’re keeping your money, sorry…"
I tried calling them this morning, the phone wasn’t answered, leave a message that we’ll send as a text…
Ok, yeah right…
I’ll send my PR off, to a PO BOX address for repairs…sure…!!
No doubt why that PR was so heavily discounted.
But they should have told you that on purchase.
Yup…
Still, all in all , pretty good value for $600.
PR, and 3 mags…
But your right, they should have said so , and the issue could have been fixed while it was apart…
But, it’s a great display piece…
But we knew it was a low performer before I stripped it for paint…
We put some through the chrono and decided it didn’t matter because it was just for display, remember?
I (hoped) suspected it may have been gels contributing to the problem.
I wanted to test it, using fresh pinkies, before drawing a definite conclusion.
I was hoping for maybe at least 230 fps, out of pinkies…
Anyway, for a display piece, it’s fine…
How so? Didn’t you purchase in store, in person? Or you just hit the buy me button.
I’m not for the vendor, that sucks. But what are you going to do when you already saved what $200 on retail, tested it and knew it was a poor performer, wanted as display piece anyway, didn’t fix it, engaged someone else to modify it for display only. When you have another perfect performing baller that’ll take Sigourney Weaver out.
How long have you had it now.
I’ve had many blaster and they were factory test used for function with old gels jamming the mag on dehydration during delivery. For the price I expect they be function checked and quick clean out and we are away.
Life is not perfect, never will be. Perhaps lower your expectations a little then you won’t be so disappointed.
I didn’t find out it was a poor performer, until I was at FF’s place.
That’s on me, I should have tried it in store.
They also should have mentioned it…
When we found out , it was using older gels, so I had a little bit of hope it might perform to an acceptable level, on fresh gels.
Ultimately, my bad…should have tested it in store…
Having said that, I’m sure when the day eventually comes, it’s probably an easy fix…dud oring or such.
Can’t complain , for the price…
Yeah, if I’d got it for that price I’d be chuffed especially with the extra mags.
Snow Wolf PRs normally go for what, $850? Two mags at $40 a pop and it’s $930 worth of gear… for $600. Good deal in anyone’s lingididingo.
You got a very good deal, BME if I’d bought it it’d be in pieces by now and on it’s way to performing like your other PRs.
But… I didn’t buy it.
Ok cool. As I wasn’t there or involved just trying to understand the whole thing.
Only so much my fried egg pea brain can do
Holy crap. That’s generally when I swing to the other shop and buy a HOWA 1500 and call it a day with more money left in my pocket
