Current project on your bench

Just what I needed, more excuses to hang out in the bush.

Finished that for someone today. Taken forever to get myself back into the sport. These Lehui augs are something else when rebuilt.

I just found this absolutely sick looking HK132/433 (real gun, not gel blaster) and decided I would 3D Print the shell and buy a gearbox. However, in Canada because I cannot purchase any metal-shell gearboxes (since they can only be found in Australian stores :sob:, I’m just going to buy a v3 Ak Airsoft Gearbox. Although there will be a crazy amount of modding to come , hopefully this should turn out absolutely DOPE. I’ll be using gen 8 SCAR v2 Magazines, since I have a sea of them (and the match the colour scheme of the gun). Right now I’m just working on designing the shell in Tinkercad. I’ll give yall an update how its going in a few days! Lmk if there is anything I should know or add on to it.

It’s got a ar style pistol grip and fire selector wouldn’t it be easier to use a V2 gearbox?

Thats a good idea…the only issue tho is that I do not have any spare AR grips (or any that are the correct colour). Also, for some reason, buying a drop in V3 Gearbox is much cheaper than buying a Drop in V2 Gearbox…thx for the suggestion tho

Plenty of Airsoft AR grips available in any colour you desire that will bolt straight on :+1:

For some reason the QBZ magazine wasn’t priming and feeding gels so pulled the mag apart and checked it, basically just reseated everything and now it’s working fine, and the QBZ goes hard, havnt chrono’d it but I think it goes pretty hard for first gen

Next is figuring out what to do about the glow mag as it doesn’t quite sit in properly and stops feeding, it does feel very firm when putting the mag in like it’s just a mm too thick or something.

But I think the issue is where the mag catch that locks into place goes on the actual mag is considerably larger than the OG mag, I’m assuming that’s part of the issue but I’m not sure how to rectify it

slimming up the gap for the mag catch :grimacing:

Absolutely no idea

I think my daughter has a cheap PoS 3d print pen

Any ideas would be helpful, cheers

The latch cutout isn’t so much the wrong size but in the wrong position.

CYMA for example has the notch lower ( like the left pictured) and the typical gen8 is higher (right pictured).

Those LDT mags do seem to be a bit thicker than most to begin too. Don’t know of any other tracer magazines other than those LDT ones .

As @DChapo commented, it’s all to do with the mag locking catch heights, mag release lever dimensions and spring contacts inside the mag well.

I could write a whole encyclopaedia on the differences between everything, but your main focus needs to be on modifying the Glow Mag locking slot to match the exact same profile of your regular mags.

The feeding issues are purely from the latching slot sitting too high, which prevents the Mag Motor contacts from connecting properly.

If you can fill in the top of that slot in the Mag to match your existing mags … Problem Solvered! :ok_hand:

The tight fit will get better the more you use it, as the plastic will gradually wear and conform to the mag well over time.

Handy tip is that you can use normal black cable ties as ā€œwelding rodsā€ to fill in the mag catch slot, then use a hobby knife or fine tip Soldering Iron to recut the slot to the required dimensions.:ok_hand:

Simply use a Bic Ciggy lighter or small gas torch to melt the cable tie to allow the molten droplets to fill the cavity, and can also try shaping it whilst its still hot and pliable to the correct shape that you are looking for.

Failing that if you don’t have the equipment, can also use a 2 part epoxy resin to achieve the same results.

I think I can spare one of the spare glow mags to go the zip tie method to fill the gap and attempt to cut a new slot I guess

Cheers mate

Wish me luck :grimacing:

Think I’ve got the glow mag sorted, did some zip tie welding and filled the void then tried to drill it out, bad idea, cracked off a chunk. Whoops

Rewelded it back on and used the soldering iron to make the hole.

Mag latch seems to catch now but the glow gels weren’t feeding, I think they shrank was the issue but they were only grown Friday evening, drained and re-bottled. Some of the glow gels were falling out the mag so I assume their size was an issue. Used fresh armour tech yellows and it was feeding beautifully from the glow mag so hopefully proper sized glows will run smoothly

:call_me_hand:t2:

Awesome work mate, and good job on the Nylon Welding/Soldering Iron cutting methods! :raised_hands:

Certainly a lifesaver skill to learn in this hobby! :joy:

Regarding the glow Gels, yeah, they ain’t very forgiving and I’m sure that a fresh grown batch should work just fine. :ok_hand:

I had that trouble back in the 1920’s :joy: but you can dremell em in when they switched from fucking G8 to 9 and the ACR

The spider wheel down the bottom pop that off and super glue it back on. Could also go a faster motor . Just not the right mag if you want out the box solution.

Try the drive wheel down the bottom first. Notorious for that.

Ah right it already grab a shot of the inside magwell. I had to dremel mine out to accommodate took the ribs out then they fitted.

Some of the fucker just wont fit

Cause why not.

Will need to edit the OG files to strengthen its a bit, don’t know how the creator thinks something printed like this would be strong enough but the concept I think is cool.

No more bent mag springs in the J11 AK… :ok_hand:

Those springs were my only gripe about an otherwise decent Jin Ming blaster. Love the design too… two screws out, handguard’s off. Two more screws out, t piece is out. Two more screws and the terminal plate’s out ready to take the new better one.

Love simplicity. :+1:

With the return of HobbyKing and them stocking Airsoft batteries… and my desire to move away from Li-Ion Titans thought I’d get a few…

But they mostly come with Tamiya plugs. Spent the morning fixing them! Deans plugs for the ones that didn’t have them.

Interesting to see how they go. Some ranging from 1000mAh to 2000mAh nunchucks… 7 and 11v.

Good price on the too.

Looks exactly like my old pile mate!:joy:
Can certainly run around all day long on a set of 3S nunchucks, as long as you have the room to stuff them in!

That’s what I liked about the ZB26, massive hallway in the buttstock to fit my Turnigy 3000mAh 3S bricks, even 2 at once if you were really keen to carry a spare as well. :joy:

You’ll be all right if the power drops out :joy: :v: :+1:
