Da Oozie Nine Milleemeda... ( IWI Uzi Gel blaster review...)

Okay, here we go…
I was on the southside of town, weakened and went to tacedge, to grab a new uzi…

Dont worry, @AKgelblaster … i will still buy some from you with the extending stock…and other things, im sure…

Tacedge won the race to the line, in this instance…

A few things to cover here, so lets get to it.

Firstly… to be truthfully honest, a couple of things from tacedge gave me a bit of a sour taste…

  1. they’ve removed the included drum mag. You only get the stick mag. If you want a drum mag, they sell it…for $70…!! Pretty average, when the factory includes it in the box…

  2. The dude said " i’ll give you some gels", as there were none in the box either. By “give”, he meant charge me $5 a packet, for 2 packets, of the cheap junk gels the factory includes. These were quickly removed at checkout.

A newbie wouldn’t know any better, but it left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth…

Anyway, moving on…

This is what you get… ( battery installed)

Before we go any further, a quick comparo, of the Mac-10…
Very similar build and price point…and the Mac-10 includes a drum…

The build quality is quite good, with a very sturdy feel in the hand.
The upper battery cover is metal, and the rest of the blaster is nylon.
Features and details are quite good, with pronounced markings.
The included battery is XT30, 11v. That gives a ROF of about 1100 r/min… abit high for an uzi.

I’d be using a 7.4 for closer to the standard 600 R/min of an UZi…

Quick partial tear down.

Easy to do, with the top cover coming off easily, then the rear pin coming out easily.

Quick disconnect plugs, for the electrics…

Mag prime on top.

Proprietry inline gearbox…

The barrel has a inbuilt “hop up” of sorts…

It seems the rubber on top gets compressed, and gently puts some pressure on top of the gels…
It would also help stabilise the inner barrel… it is quite accurate over the shorter distances…

The stick mag is metal, and well made.

Out of interest, the Mac -10 mags do fit in the grip quite snugly…and have similar top contacts… they just don t reach… UZI on left…

MAC 10 drum mag…

Similar top contacts…

So…how does it go.?.?

Well, so far ive tried my old crowd favorites… xforce pink, and i hobby blues.’

around 190 fps, at 1100 r/min…

That was a quick burst, with some older gels, but gives you an idea.
I saw a range of 180-200, but around 190 is a fair average so far.
Limited upgrade potential, but some gains can be made im sure.
And, maybe other gels perform better.

The grip safety is cool, but not essential…mine fires regardless of wether its depressed or not.

Standard, its pretty quiet, so good for backyard blasting.
Light and nimble, easily manouverable.

Large dinner plate sized groupings, around the 10-12m mark.

Yep… it’s an UZI alright. :+1:

Seems very similar performance to the others like the MP9, Mac10 etc… just wearing different clothes.

Cheeky shits at Tac Edge pulling the drum mag and then trying to charge for it as a separate item.

Finally…comparing to @Friendly_Fire 's masterpiece…

The real uzi is all metal, so F/Fires has the edge there.
It also has way fewer of the screw holes holding the nylon blaster together, so looks cleaner…particularly on the foregrip.

The newer blaster has the edge on performance…maybe the boxes can be swapped.?.?

( I can hear the swearing from here…!)

All in all, F/Fires piece is still very much a valued part of the collection.
All metal , with fewer holes , is a big win.!

I would definitely reccomend getting these from @AKgelblaster

the standard ones would include a drum mag, and the extending stocks look awesome…!!

Enjoy.!

especially when the box has an empty drum sized moulding…

just another reason to buy from Akgelblaster…

It just needs a sling swivel pin, to fill the gaping empty hole…

Where abouts would you get these from.??

Also… even the high end airsoft models, have all the holes for screws…
No getting away from them, it seems… unless you use a metal frame …

That was my first thought when looking at it, surely that breaches some kind of consumer law or something.

Probably not.

They would say…" We bought these…they’re ours. We can sell them any way we like…Its up to the customer to decide…"

And, are probably technically legally correct.

If you were a car dealer… selling toyotas…but removed the spare tyre to sell as an optional extra…

you would quickly go out of buisness, with competition forcing you out…

However… if you are( currently) the only supply source…

So, to be clear…

AKGelblaster charge $169 for the blaster, stick mag and drum mag.

To get the same thing from Tac Edge you pay $199 for the blaster and a stick mag, PLUS an extra $70 for the drum mag which should be part of the package. Total of $269…

$100 more and incredibly unethical. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Tac Edge Hobbies just dropped a fair few knotches in my estimation as a decent vendor.

Legal… Yes
Moral… No
Get away with it due to monopoly positioning…Yes

That’s the standard template for every big buisness in Australia…!!  :rage:

Thats why i included the Mac-10 for comparison…

Similar size / build…

Xforce still sell the Mac-10 , for $155…

Simple way to deal with companies who pull shit like that is to not buy from them. :person_shrugging:

Looks like AKG is going to get most of the UZI sales once this stuff gets out into the community.

We’ve talked about this before… it’s such an uncertain industry everyone’s just out to make hay while the sun’s shining.

They’re not the first to do it. I’ve bought plenty of new blasters that had items missing. Sig 552 came without the upgrade spring. M249 came without the bipod, another one came without the included flash hider/hop up, a cheap plastic flash hider substituted.

Like you said, newbies probably wouldn’t know the difference so it’s a sad reflection of the company’s attitude towards their customers.

Compare that to AKG… included Turnigy Nanotech lipos and a proper quality check before shipment.

I know where my money will be going in future.

I only jumped on this grenade, just so i could serve you guys, and satisfy your curiosity about them…

Really…

Believe Me…

Nothing to do with impatience…

Final call…

this is the correct way, to lay the battery…

It is tight in there… lay it on the side, and it interferes with the charging handle opening / closing.

Here, it cycles nicely…

Without a battery, charger or drum mag

When I bought my Mac 10 it didn’t come with a drug mag either but I picked the Mac 10 up for $100 on special from vipertac so I’m not complaining

But selling the drum mag separately when it was included from the manufacturer is dodgey business practices for sure

Also…forgot to mention…

Picked up the $10 MP5 light…its all good…

I’m sure you can see where this is going…!

Found this, looking at images online…

Looks cool…wonder how they’d go, getting into Aus…??

SYD customs, anyone…??

Should be no problem if it comes with a certificate from the armourer who disabled it. Customs and BF should treat it like a Denix replica. :person_shrugging:

could be a tricky one.

There are various levels, of " deactivated" …

From simply removing the firing pin… to pouring concrete down the barrel.

I remember from some previous conversations regarding collectors licenses, they like them more “irreversibly deactivated”.
Things like removing parts of the action, concrete down the barrel, welding parts together etc etc.

Simple, reversible deactivations are a No No.
The more irreversible it is, the better…

too bad that conflicts with our desire to have pieces that cock, dry fire, cycle dummy rounds etc etc.

Look at some of the the other items they have…
No wait, dont…

And yeah, the $10 light was from tac-edge…
