I thought JIS had a different flute profile to Phillips… @Maiphut ?
For what it’s worth I wouldn’t make the normal Phillips the first choice… that’s how the heads get stripped in the first place.

Well you didn’t get the set I linked to you earlier then that has a half set of impact (yes hit with a fkn hammer to shock those stubborn screws out) oh well can’t say I didn’t try
Correct and everything made in Japan IS JIS from the 50’s in the Japanese post WW2 industrial revolution they had. Slightly different flute profile but enough to bugger a JIS screw when using a phillips screw driver on a JIS screw. But a JIS driver works fine on a phillips screw.
Beemer
Phillips are designed to slip in the flute design when tight enough. JIS were designed TO NOT SLIP with a slight change in the flute profile so you can torque em up that bit more you need on all Japanese bikes forever, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Kawasaki Microwaves and all your electrical breakers and points and things why all Electricutions use them with insulated sleeves like your red and yellow one on the right.
It works sometimes. The serrated edge is normal and you will get +1 +2 +3 in the set. You have the right JIS drivers as they are marked P1 p2. The grey ones in the set I linked to below are hammer time Impact drivers and very handy they are to give a stout crack with a hammer to crack those bit rusty stubborn phillips or JIS screws.
JIS Vessel Screwdriver Set - Japanese Motorcycle Screwdrivers
Use those for everything as they do not munt chinesium screws as will happen with a phillips driver. I found that out playing with my latest MN82 Landcruiser RC car.
FFS don’t be scared of them because they have a serated edge. Use them on everything. You’ve been told
Seriously only trying to help you out man but sometimes oh well can only help those willing to help themselves.
Shit like this…
Craftright 6 Piece Insulated VDE Screwdriver set - Bunnings Australia
They are marked PH for phillips. Line that bin up and…
Or this set
Non Slip JIS Screwdriver Set - Rhino Electricians Tools
Very good and get a couple flat blades in it too. Last forever the amount you would use them. My original set lasted 10 years and they copped a punishing. As I’m a fitter and turn her into shit I’m rough on my gear to get the job done.
Buy once and cry once.
Okay…all good.
I went to the Syd tools…they didn’t have your set, but had the set which i got, on sale.
I explained it was for removing stuck screws…they said this has the extra grippy head.
More grip for removing, but chuck the worn screw out after.
I have used them since…and they worked well enough, so i’m happy.
Might have to get a set of drivers.
I like to use good gear, but wasn’t aware of the differing variations of the screwdrivers…
Thanks for the info.!
All good just trying to share things I’ve learned over the years that makes life easier which a lot don’t understand and get wrong and have a bad day. But again I don’t know everything and still learning to this day. The day I stop learning just shoot me
Maiphut, if I cover your airfare will you come up and shoot me now?
This flu’s really kicking my arse.
I have always had those Red and Yellow “electricians” type sets, and have been flawless.
Ah no. Pump the panadol, Vitc and everyday Multivits, maybe even Fexofenodine 180mg (non drowsy) as I had to double tap that too as I get a bit of hayfever. You can double up on the fexofenodine for a couple of days helps clear the snotter.
Anticol lozenges are also helpfull for the sore throat you will have. Aand I used Grandmas old trick, Menthol Camphor in the tin to clear the nose.
Have you been to the doc and got an Antibiotic shot? I didn’t(none available), the panadol will help with the fever, stay out of the cold but still get up and about as much you can to keep bloodflow going. Don’t be embarassed I took a few too many panadol and got dizzy passed out and had a close look at the kitchen floor. Ah so that’s what it looks like.
Fkn shit it is.
No antibiotics yet, but as long as it doesn’t turn into a chest infection shouldn’t need them.
Anti-virals are a bit of a ripoff… claim to reduce severity and duration but do the research and they shorten the duration by 12-24 hours… at $50 for the anti-virals ( not on the PBS ) it’s hardly worth it with a 7-10 day bug.
Woke up this morning feeling like I’d been beaten up by a squadron of dwarves armed with cricket bats…
Just a quick add on…
I sprayed the very top of the Scar mag, with tamiya flat…TS-80.
Here are the results…
compared with the darker tan body of the Spectre.
Standard scar, does look a little flat.
The lacquer does darken it a bit…but depends on viewing angle.
At a certain angle, it ‘dissapears’…
Angled further, it goes even lighter…
Dealers choice.
Yes, just be careful as my farmer mate close by went down with Pneumonia.
He said how the fk does that work I’ve never smoked in my life. He’s 57 and on the mend now but had to go the Docs and get spots on his lungs x-rayed.
I had HMPV for 2 and half weeks before I kicked it. Still rebuilding energy back up now Just do a few jobs until I run out of steam then take a break. Getting there so that’s the main thing.
Like you mentioned these flu’s and different strains these days are nothing like the old flu you’d kick in 2 days.
I’ll preface this by stating that I’m NOT a “Cooker” nor believe in any of their tin foil hat theories, and just relating to a conversation that I had with my Haematology Specialist at Fiona Stanley Hospital regarding future health concerns for myself, as was at the end of 2 years of Lung recovery from my triple Pulmonary Embolism attack that left me with double pneumonia and left lung infection for months in hospital as one of the many different internal organ damages that I suffered as a result of the Embolisms.
This was through January 2019 and all the way through to the end of 2021/mid 2022 during my monthly check ups, and now only have to see him every 6 months these days thankfully!
His concern was with COVID and all the mask wearing, social distancing, sanitizing and lockdowns etc.
He warned way back then that it would push viruses to become more aggressive and nastier due to having to mutate into much stronger “bugs” for their own survival, which is basically what all the Viruses do is constantly evolve to stay alive, which they certainly had to do during the whole COVID period whilst the conditions were extremely difficult for them.
The last meeting with him in October last year we broached on this subject again, as he was already witnessing heightened numbers of aggressive “Summer Colds” , Hayfever and other respiratory issues in the population that was previously uncommon.
He warned me again that there would be some very “Nasty” Viruses and respiratory infections in the 2025 Winter period, along with heightened Hayfever events… and boy was he right!
Nobody around here has had anything as bad as what you poor blokes have had to suffer, only more like common colds and flues, along with weird days of constantly running noses/sore eyes/breathing difficulties from Hayfever effects.
But apparently there’s plenty of nasty viruses going through Perth region like the plauge and wreaking havoc with the workforce and families, much like you are experiencing in your relative areas.
The good news is that he is predicting these viruses to subside in their aggressiveness after a coupe of years of doing the rounds, as long as they aren’t flared up again with another COVID type disruption.
Can only wait and see, but he’s a top specialist in his field and has been bang on the money so far, so I hope that this is the case for the future.
Yes, I’ve always suffered from hayfever and grain dust kills me, I have to mask up when dealing with that. Take fexofenodine 180mg non drowsy works well for me too and sorts my hayfever out. I’ve been burning through boxes of it in the middle of winter which is not normal, usually just spring when things flower. But with all the severe dust storms we’ve had in the middle of winter where you can’t see 50yards in front of you, that’ll do it too. Some of our and mine paddocks blew over to Sydney and blacked them out for half a day.
It’s a lot to do with the weather as well, no rain to flush things out and never in 100 years have we had severe frosts running in to late August. 1st week of July frosts sign off in normal conditions.
But you always get more frosts when you are in drought. With this being a 100 year drought it’s not surprising.
Look at the Algal bloom off SA, it’s killed everything, all the coral, all the fish, all the green stuff that grows under water on rocks plants and things(not sure what they are called not a fisherman)
All the cockles are dead(I knew them as they were fun to water skip em as a kid lol) everything. Combination of higher water temps, flood run off out of the Murray from 22/23 and probably something else. Be no fishing off SA for quite some time.
Yeah I don’t suffer from hay ever, even throughout all the years working on farms and in cattleyards with hay/fine dust so thick you would be choking on it and battling to see a few metres in front of you, but I also copped a couple of random days with the Winter Hayfever symptoms of nothing more than a dripping nose and itchy eyes.
My brother suffers from it bad and is constantly taking medications much the same as yourself, and some of the elderly folk in town have been copping the same this winter.
Hopefully it all settles down for you soon and can get back to some sort of normality in ya day to day life.
I’m striving for some normality to come back. I’ve gone to war status for awhile now pulling that extra mile to get shit done while thousands of no hopers decide to rally/protest about something that is not in their country.
We have big problems at home, concentrate on that and do the best you can to get it sorted out. They’ll find out when there is no food on the shelves where it made you don’t eat you die smart fks.
I know more ADF military people than the average bear and all of them have said they have done what they have done to protect primary production number one. As it’s very important. Why I got in to it. I nearly went ADF passed all the BMI and prelimeries when I was younger but got a call from ROH wheels Australia, come back in for another meeting, bang your hired, ok had to ring the recruiting officer I dealt with I’ve been snapped up and thank you for your guidance but I have an apprenticeship now at 17yo. Oh well guess I’ll maintain the machines that make car wheels instead. Sounds good to me.
With the ADF recruiting officer, as they test your mind capabilities. I got asked how would you feel about killing another person, I said no problems if that was what I was ordered to do. Full stop.
Still haven’t to this day and don’t want to but if shit hits the fan with some crazy cunt. I know who’s going to be missing a head joking of course, might upset some flower purple haired can’t decide what gender it is.
I dunno man I’ve worked pretty damn hard over the years, made alot of changes in the wheel production factory as I could see problems, it’s like everyone just wants more, it’s too hard, you just do it. I’m sick of that attitude, you’re going to need to do it as I won’t be around forever to keep wiping your sorry arse. Why I run my business myself now, if I fuck up I’ve got one to blame It’s working out much better
I’ve worked with thousands of different people and I’m pretty sure I’m younger than the DocBob, some come in with bad hair days I call them. I show compatition, well c’mon mate what’s wrong. Oh I’ve got to pay a bill at the bank but we work from 6am to 4:30pm outside banking hours and only 30mins lunch break I can’t do it and I’ll be in trouble.
I said aha, glad you told me, how about this I have a solution as he was a great worker. You fk off to the bank at 11:30 and get back when you can and tell no one and if security or higher ups stop you, point those fkrs in my direction I will sort them out. He was back at 12:45pm with a smile as I ran his machine, thank you boss got it done you are a legend. I said easy as, anytime.
Well said mate, and yeah you only beat me by a couple of years in age, but have a lot in common with my own journey and attitudes in life… as we’re found out through a few chats on the phone!
We definitely lose a lot of patience for fckwits as we get older, but at the same time appreciate good cnuts even more!
All us kids were raised pretty strict and taught to stand up for what we believe in, not simply roll over and cop it, which has certainly caused many incidents over the years, but wouldn’t have it any other way.
Keep it up mate, plenty of kicks at the Posts and many Points to be gathered, but also strike a few more Goals if ya don’t give up!
Yes, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know, respect, help me and I help you, teamwork.
I see theere’s thousands of people doing some teamwork blocking off roads in certain states. RAAF should land a few Hercules, right in you get off to Gaza where the problem is if you are that much concerned and sort it out. Don’t bring that shit here, nothing to do with Australia.
Australia has it’s own problems right now that we should be more focused on. And are not.
