Golden Eagle gas shotties...( Or, you need to come out of your Shell)

Ok, here we go…GE gas shotties.
Minimal lead in , minimal hype…they just arrived.
I grabbed a model reminiscient of Hick’s shottie from Aliens…

THE GOOD

Very solid in the hand
No leaking from gas magazine so far.
Solid performance
Single barrel, which has an adjustable setting to shoot 3 or 6 gels.

THE BAD
The magazine…!!

I suspected this would happen.
Airsoft has the spirally loaded shell, which holds 30 solid bb’s.

That setup was never going to work with gel, so they opted for the protruding, U shaped feeding mag…

It levers into position…

Yup…look ruined…

To add insult to injury, it has a “protruding tea bag string”

One must pull the string out, to load the gels. ( it holds about 16)

It just looks so silly, like you are going to garrotte a star wars action figure, with piano wire…

Fully loaded, with string hanging out…

Maybe we loaded tampons, instead of shottie shells, and its that time of the month… No wonder she’s cranky and ready to go off…!!

I’m sorry, i just cant picture Hick saying " EAT THIS!"… and stuffing a shottie into a xeno’s mouth…with a tampon string swaying around…

I know the Xeno’s are supposed to have sublime sexual undertones…but this is a bit too far…

One has acid blood…
The other has mensrtrual blood…

:face_vomiting: :face_vomiting:

Try getting that out your head…!!

:expressionless: :expressionless:

One saving grace, is the string retracts when the gels are used.

It holds about 16 gels, and has a selectable 3 shot/ 6 shot fire feature.

Even the instructions basically say…because its gel, selecting 3 may only fire 2…selecting 6 may fire 4.

I had a few shots this afternoon, on 3 rnd burst.
It fires two at once, outof the single barrel.
Perfomance was good.

The old APS ones were anemic performers, so at least these have some go.
The gas chambers hold a LOT of gas, and drain a bottle quickly.
Hold your hand over the barrel and fire… it kicks some gas out.

I think this chrono reading was gas only…

Another reading was 480…must have been gas.

The mag’s not too obtrusive… but that wire.

So…final thoughts for tonight…

Good Blasters, good performance, average magazine.

You could possibly modify a mag, cut it down to half length, and have it flush, make it single shot, then it would be much better.

I’d rather have a flush mag and fewer single shots, than a janky protruder with 2/3 gells out.

The shotgun efforts have been a mixed bag.

APS : awesome blasters, realism , shell feeding and ejection…just crap performance.

UDL : ( SPAS, REM 870) are good for the $$… single gel per shell, ok performance, good feeding.

XYL: good build quality, janky protruding mag, 2 barrels feeding from one small cylinder, but cheap.

One day, someone will get it right…

Until then, it might be cheaper to buy a real one…

Go to the LA riots, volunteer with the national guard, and shoot rubber slugs at journo’s…!!

 :upside_down_face:

Where’s the reservoir located on that model? They’re supposedly different depending on the setup.

in the pistol grip.
20 char.

Also, with the slide all the way back…

This is as far as the ejection port cover opens…

You then reach into there, to adjust the 3 / 6 gel selector…

Theres that bloody Lipton tea bag string again…

Ok, I got one with a buffertube, supposedly it’s in there for those cause it’s a standard AR pistol grip on those models

which model did you get.?

Might as well make a big tampon mag :joy:

That’s actually a GREAT idea!
Add a fake mag to hide the Tampon String and at least make it look like something tougher than just that janky Teabag box poking down. :joy:

You just need to patent, a tampon speed loader…!!

You’ll sell a tonne, on ali express…!!

3 different sizes…

Small, medium, and given birth to quintuplets…!!

This is degenerating into shit pit material…!!

This one

And apparently the ones with the other stock, like the full stock, have a removable one or something.

Finally!

Someone else who likes a buffer tube snd stock on a shottie.

Does depend on the model for me, do like the wood furniture but the buffer tube style is more practical

There’s already a magazine adapter for an airsoft one that might be useful as a base to modify. Thou the actual mag itself would be the issue

I know it’s CYMA but it should be the same type system.

Good read @BME

Glad I held off on these, protruding mag with tampon string and limited gel capacity all adds to a solid deal breaker for me.
And I’ve seen enough broken GE lever action shell ejector versions… and golden Eagles in general to be wary of them.

The GE shell ejector lever actions went well when they worked. Quite a few broken lifter mechanisms though. They only held gels in the shell and gas was in the blaster, so no leaky anaemic performance like the aps with both.

Someday we will get a decent shotgun for gel… as @Friendly_Fire says, and I stand buy it… the hanke m97 is still the best shotgun seen in gel.

It’s a shame that manufacturers keep making high end shottie units that only look good on display with the magazine out. :man_shrugging: Still, this particular example’s a great looking unit, magazine notwithstanding @BME

And you’re bang on with your comments about the Hanke M97s @RokSolid … legendary. So good I’d say it’s the only blaster I’ve got that I can actually zero in a red dot sight on and know that it’s useable at a realistic range. :+1:

Pity Hanke don’t make the M97s full metal inside and out with a larger internally hopper resevoir… wooden furniture would be the cherry on top. They still sell well as they are and they’d sell even better with upgrades
