Ok…now thats out of the way…

A few things about the M-14.

Its Big.
Its Bulky.
Its Heavy.
Its Long.
Its a big hitter…

Thats with i-hobby blue gels.
Higher fps, you’ll want some firmer gels.

There are two types of M-14 available from WAT…
Military and civillian.

The military version has (plastic) metal upper foregrip.

It looks pretty good, but a little ‘new plasticy’ looking.
It would benefit from a spray of semi gloss lacquer, to darken it and dull it a bit more…make it look more metal-ish…like the Ak-47.

This is the image, from tacedge, with the metal upper…

I went for full wood.
WAT reckons, you may be able to buy the plastic upper later, as a add on.
Going with the all wood, you have matching wood pieces.

Demand will probably see if it actually happens…keep asking…

ts a very solid item.

No creaking, flexing or rattling.

The bolt slides all the way back ( unlike the M1), but is non functional.

The battery compartment works well, 2 layers of battery cover, and the fuse is readily accessable.

A word of warning, every time you reconnect the battery, it wants to “jump and cycle”. Can catch you by surprise , if you are not ready for it.

The mag is metal, and hefty.

It would be about the same capacity as a M4, so a decent amount.

Semi auto will last a long time, or put a 7.4v in, for slower full auto.

speaking of which…

a bit blurry, but this is the switch on the RHS, that cycles semi / auto.

Yes, i know the real one doesn’t have one, but this version only fires gels…

Another word of warning…its very stiff initially.

Its in the 12 oclock posn, for semi.

It needs to be rotated , to 6 oclock, for full auto.

When its new, its very tight…mine bound at 3 oclock.

Slow, steady, increasing pressure, will break through it gently.

Then, watch some tv and cycle it back and forth, a few dozen times.
It’ll loosen up.

Time for some close up shots…
A bit blurry…

Safety is period correct…flick it back / forwards…

Bolt goes all the way back.

Down the sights.
They are adjustable…up for elevation, and L/R for windage.

If only it was a/soft, and actually accurate…

The sharp end.
Don’t gomer pyle yourself…you’ll bruise your Uvula…!!!

So, to summarise, its a heavy hitter…

For the re-enactors / Mil simmers, its a pretty good replica of the real deal.
With a bigger mag capacity than the M1 Garand (10) , this would be a better game day blaster.

Mind you, its big and hefty… i think you’d need to be keen, to run around with this all day.

7.4v with short bursts on auto, would be the method… less wear than semi.

WAT are the cheapest place to buy them, they also have the military version.
The pre-order price was cheaper, and worth it.

Place your order now, and hope they send you out a M1919 by mistake…!!

Now squiddy…you get back to those push ups now…!!

@Deity333 …did you get the same performance, from yours.?

Does yours ‘jump’ on battery reconnect, and also have a stiff semi switch.?

Happy with yours so far?

Barely have time to fiddle with it due to current work load - mine didn’t jump on battery connect, I just tried connecting it again as semi and auto and no jump on connect for me either time.
Fire selector is not as stiff as what you’re describing and I’m no Hulk - I do worry about breaking it though.

maybe it was the trigger position of mine…
it has jumped between semi/ auto, in the semi position.’

Yeah, the switch is not the strongest.
Maybe just leave it, in the position you’ll use the most…
