J10 ACR thread

CYMA nylon gearsets are proprietry… different to standard V2 nylon gears.

I’ve never tried putting CYMA gears into a non-CYMA gearbox, but I can tell you the pinion & bevel gears are not cross compatible… same for the a/r latch, different lengths. I’ve only ever used CYMA gears in a CYMA application.

Standard V2 nylon and cast metal gears work in Gen 9s, SHS gearsets need the spur gear shaved down to give clearance in the shell. So… lathe.

looks like getting parts for these is getting harder…

any once, everyone had them in abundance…

Pretty telling when tac edge doesn’t have stock anymore…
does Brent have any.?

I’ve pulled nylon gearsets out of his parts drawer plenty of times, dunno about new gearsets though. Give him a call when he opens on Tuesday morning.

@BME @shadow187

Just to be clear, the gearbox in an ACR J10 is just a Gen 9 box with an additional mag terminal plate built into the receiver. Gen 8 & Gen 9 share the same gearset.

If you’ve been looking specifically for Gen 9 gears, might be why you can’t find any. Most sellers just list them as Gen 8 and assume you’re aware of the Gen 9 compatibility.

Lifted from the X-Force listing for Gen 8 nylon gearsets :

X-Force is also showing a stock level of 67 at Meadowbrook, so I don’t know why they’d tell you they have none. Here’s the link if you want to.pay $20 :

Or you can get them on ebay from a seller in Yatala for $4… buy five sets for the same price as X-Force stock.

God, better not be…

Not so many Gen 9s out there, but a shit-ton of Gen 8s. If gearsets start becoming hard to get there’ll be an uprising in the community.

Awesome, thank you for the information, that’s just what was peaking my curiosity. One of the listings I found didn’t have the anti reverse latch so that solves that problem,

the old two birds, one gel

And thank you @BME for the offer. I’ll pm you at some stage during the week

Gen9 and j10 gearbox is identical, except the rear wiring on a gen9 is longer.

The shop I worked at sold out of JM gears last year, have to buy an entire gearbox now.

Gears themselves are likely getting in short supply as several fields use nylon geared JM scars and acts as rentals still to this day.

That explains the demand then.

Easy enough to migrate over to metal… get a lathe and even SHS gears are no problemo.

Sooooo… all the old shit that I have piled high in boxes is actually worth something nowadays?

You better believe it, Doc. :+1:

Ah, if only you had one of the early Ze Hua F2000s kicking around in your box of tricks… that’d be worth a bit these days just for the rarity.

I know a few people on the hunt for those.

Well that looks like fun. :joy:

Hit the fker with a hammer, that’ll sort it out :joy:

Give you piles high, I just spoke to my Doc and I passed. Meep Meep

When I was a kid :v: Hey Charger
Mum sank the slipper into it and poo come out :joy:

Got a new ACR gearbox, from xforce.
Pulled it apart, to change the o-ring.

Jinming assembly lesson #101.

Apply PLENTY of grease…for adequate lubrication…

In spite of all that, the gears remain bone dry…

go figure…  :upside_down_face:

What the actual fuck?

Looks like Wong and his mates at the Jin Ming factory had a bit of a circle jerk while they were assembling that one.

I’d be wearing rubber gloves.

Narrator of documentary speaks
Here in this non descript factory we see a huge vat, where they are making enough grease to fully grease, 3 ACR gearboxes…

I don’t wanna know, what that white material is composed of…

So, installing the new gearbox, the 4 motor screws…and…

Spinners again.

This time…pulling right out…not engaging. Apart from one.

These are the screws from the first gearbox, being used on the new gearbox ( which had no motor screws.

I think the threads, are a bit too narrow.

Looks like its off to bunnings, get new screws, and cut to correct length.

Any other tricks / tips.??

All my builds copped these threaded brass melt in Nut Inserts for the Gearboxes and receiver assembly screws.:ok_hand:

Self tapping screws are NOT your friend!

Also replace the factory fitted insert motor grip nuts with proper new nuts/threaded screws rather than fighting with the unknown “specification” Chinathread crap that they come with.

Yep, this 100%

Chinese screws are made from recycled wok metal… strip if your two year old wrenches them.

Cap heads or button heads are great if possible (high tensile) but even just normal steel screws from Bunnings are superiour to OEM.

M3 for the grip screws, usually.

As Doc has wisely advised, nuts as well… or there’s no point. :+1:

Welcome to the wonderful world of Jin Ming fasteners.

Glad you got a new box wtf :joy:
