Always wondered why my training kicked in…

Finally got it out…!!

Just as I was heating up the soldering iron, I had a look inside, with my headlamp.
I could just see the now exposed bottom screw, in the gearbox.

I was just able to hold just enough pressure on it, with a needle nose pliers, to get it to turn…

So, gearbox now out.

Grip is still useable, and with a new/ transplant gearbox, you would still be able to use all 4 holes.

The tan body kit is now @Friendly_Fire ‘s

The gearbox is likely screwed…some wires got chewed and the nylon gears got bashed.

@shadow187 , this could be a good donation gearbox for you.

Practise pulling it apart , and putting it back together again.
It’s a good learner box.

Piccies later, when I pull it apart to inspect damage…

Mate, if you’ve got it sorted, you should keep it and whack another Gen 9 box in it.

You can never have too many ACRs. :+1:

Maybe stuff one of my old famous Monkey Mods split cast alloy Gearboxes into your Magazine package as well @BME

I get the feeling that @Friendly_Fire might end up having to play with getting one of those up and running half decent though!

I sent one to ZeHamish all those years ago and he had quite a bit of fun with it, especially considering no-one else could buy one because I kept draining all the available stocks! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hhhhmmmm…

Found a shitonne of other random parts just in the 2 boxes I have in the spare room, out of hundreds that I have in the storage unit, but this might be of some interest for another project as well?

Brand new unopened Alloy MP5 threaded buttstock adaptor.

Have several “blanking” adaptors along with a few one’s that have a QD attachment end cap as well instead of the standard stock mount.

Just the ticket for that custom HQI MP5K Build.:rofl:

umm PG rating… pulled what out of where :joy:

Pull it some more, it helps with gonad cancer so the doc tells me

Man…,… those pics of the open insides of that gearbox has some seriously trippy optical illusions!

I looked at the pics after I posted them, and the cylinder head areas look like they are curved outwards, not in! ,:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Maybe I’ve just had too many beers?

No, not a self administered colonoscopy….

Though I can send pics, if you really want…
:rofl::rofl::weary:

Best to get some more practise on squiddy first!!
The large flat edge screwdriver makes for…imprecise adjustments…!!
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Ok…autopsy time…

Finally got THE GEARBOX out…!!

And opened it up for a look.
I screwed up the nylon gears, getting it out, but no biggy.
Cheap to replace nylon gears, hence why i whacked it with a hammer…

I guess these rate as " great condition, never been abused" , on the 2nd hand market.?.?!!

Pulling the rest of the gearbox apart, its obvious where all the drilling debris went…

The BAD news: crap everywhere…it needs a complete pull down and clean up.
The stock cylinder head is crap…sooo loose, it always pops out. airseal shite.

The GOOD news: wiring not massacred…barely was touched. New gears, clean up, new cylinder head…a functioning gearbox…with only 3 screws for the motor.

As i said, if nothing else, this would be an ideal teardown practise motor.
@shadow187 , are you interested in a freebie giveaway.?

Do not tempt me , Frodo…!!

I had a bit of a think about this.
You like the tan shell…thats cool…its yours…
They can be swapped over, so the black shells are now spares.

either give the old gearbox to shadow, as a practise unit, or get a new gearbox ($45 from xforce…has 4 motor points, drop of blue loctite).

Drop a gearbox into the black shells, and viola…working Black ACR.

2nd hand market, here we come…!!

Or, donate it to a deserving person…

Donating’s always good karma :+1:

@DocBob you have some goodie’s stashed away, hey?

Nylon gears are hard to find…

tacedge sold out… couldnt see any on ihobby…

I’d be happier putting a new 4post gearbox, in any ACR rebuild…

Also…random, just because shot…

i was cleaning up, and found my genuine Megalodon tooth…
Just need to find its stand now…

Comparo size, next to a gearbox…

Most powerful bite force, of any animal that ever lived.

Swallow a human whole no problems.
Likewise, a small car.

I would love to be able to go back in time, and behold one of these behemoths…need a bloody big submarine though!!

Meg tooth…vs great white tooth…

For what its worth, ihobby whites go really well with the xforce 7.5mm barrel…
The ones with the blue packet.

These are harder gas gels, dont blow up as the occasional pinky does, and dont curve off as much as the pinkies can. Being harder, they must deform less.

All this, from a M95 spring.

Lowest around 290, highest 320 i’d say average around 305 fps.

I was considering putting a M100 spring in…but the spring is a fair bit longer.
I tried fitting it into the test gearbox…it did fit, but felt Really Tight.

It would definitely shorten the gearbox’s life, until it goes bang.
For what…330+, out of a nylon box?

Metal box territory.

M95 is fine, for longevity and adequate performance…

M100 spring length, vs m95 length…

Hey mate, yeah sure, sounds good , thank you

Just a question regarding the non availability of nylon gears, at least locally. What’s a set of metal gears for it worth you reckon and would the gearbox only fit acr’s or is it a gen8?

Very much appreciated the offer BME, thank you

This gearbox is not a gen 8.
its a nylon v2 style.

if you get some metal gears for it, you would have to upgrade everything.
Metal pinion for the motor, running gears, and a piston with metal ladder.

nylon gears drop in easily, i haven’t upgraded metal gears into a nylon gearbox yet.

Honestly, its probably kinda not worth it…nylon gearboxes are cheap to make…low powered and mass produced. Any real grunt, and the shell will crack…best to leave it lower powered. Go all metal if you want the big numbers.

you should be able to find some nylon gears somewhere, and just use this as a practise gearbox.
Its perfect for that, practise pulling it apart and reassembling it.

Let me know when it suits you, for a pick up / postage etc…

A question for anyone.

Do the Wells v2 nylon gears, fit in a standard v2 box?
Or at least the bevel gear.?
Thats the one i whacked.

Ausgel dont have any standard v2 nylon gears left.

I was going to say I found these, would they be good for it?

should do…
but xforce has these in stock…

you can see the value of those Ausgel cyma orange gearboxes for $17…
entire working gearbox…got the lot.!
No wonder they sold out.!

beastpro sell parts, and also have stock.

You’d have to pay for postage though…
