Latest updates in the fight for legalising Gel Blasters

Yes it’s in Tasmania where they’re not legal, but as usual they have to use scary words to try and make it sound worse and no one’s being fooled in the comments either.

That’ll kill you at 7000 yard stare didn’t you know.

Bra where my next ruffies

While it is “technically accurate” terminology by the state’s laws… just, sigh…
Taking a page from NSW pol’s social media I guess.

This though, is why I refuse to sell to anyone outside of QLD.
I don’t need to point out those that do, but they aren’t doing the sport any favours imo.
3d printers can really get you into hot water if not used responsibly and being aware of laws now too.

Now look I totally agree, printing firearms should definitely be illegal as that is dangerous to the public and the offender.

That said I’d be advising extreme caution and consideration before just dropping into the 3d printing realm even if you are in a state where blasters are legal items.

Yeah, Beemer and I were discussing this the other day…

Playing devil’s advocate, it is a bit of a grey area when you’re talking about whether a 3D print is for a gel blaster or a bullet firing weapon.

I can imagine there’s a few cross over components used for both applications.:person_shrugging:

I would not be game to have files which could be mistakenly categorised on my system if I was into 3D printing these days.

This 100%. I’ve spoken to police at various points through my gel career and the fact is they often have very little knowledge of gel blasters if any. To them if it looks like a firearm it is, as that is the safe side for them to enact on and you can’t blame them for that.

Pretty sure it says something in like that in the legislation, if it’s used in such a manner it will be treated as a firearm, which as you said makes sense.

As with anything, being educated on such topics helps immensely, really the only thing in that image that could be used on a real rifle is maybe the pistol grip and the foregrip. Anyone who understands firearms would know this, but how many in Australia do, or how many do but have an agenda.

yes, because zamak (a type of zinc alloy) used in these things CANNOT WITHSTAND PRESSURES of the real firearm cartridges even 22. and anything advertised as full/partially metal, is either Zamak (Zinc) Aluminum, or a low-grade steel not some 4150 Ordnance grade or Finer steel used for a Mil-spec m4 barrel.
even the grips could not survive long time usage and etc , and may degrade, crack and get destroyed in long term
but even if you manage to convert a gel blaster (a gas blowback steel thingy) to a real gun, you need to modify it in every aspect and then the first use’s gonna be the last use
well example for this bs material that’s zamak or die-cast is an umarex cowboy rifle (177. bb / 4.5 pellet winchester 1892/1894 hybrid replica) is that these things will CRACK after some fast cycling and etc and good to know that they jam noturiously , all because of the alloy
Or my friend had an Umarex Walther PPK/S and that bb gun’s barrel broke after some usage
so, the point is that a sh…ty matterial that will crack on its own at some point and has not superior strength and could not withstand those pressures. then WHY IS IT BANNED?
but even if we use 4150 steel and do everything to make the most realistic, shell ejecting gas blowback airsoft or gelsoft thing (like rare arms ar15 or even more realistic) and all in ordnance-grade alloys, then could we turn that to fire 5.56x45mm M855 Ball NATO rounds ? simply no. first reason, the barrel diameters, second reason, lack of a firing pin and etc (the mechanism is just AIR or CO2 or any type of gas depending on being hpa , aeg or co2/gas ) and a very very different trigger and mechanism. they just look realistic from the outside, but when you just look them from inside, it’s totally different
but our governments ( In Iran gas guns are banned also the reasons the same, " they could be altered, converted or etc to become war weapons " yes, they say war weapons literally, out of some gas guns that are made in trash materials like zamak ! ) don’t understand this and the reason is simple and stupid , being afraid to get used against them so they want to prevent this at any form , even stupid reasons that they may laugh at in their private… but let’s go on , fight for our right to have gelsoft / airsoft and any firearm simulator and I hope that in somewhat near date , we will win this fight and after that Learn the other people how to use these in the right way and have fun with them and have a worldwide and international , strong communities and associations for these type of things
anyways I truly apologize to anybody for writing this long message and make them bored
I wish the best for you all and hope we win this fight, and try to be a representative for my country after everything’s got normal
Very Respectfully and All the best,
Elitium

That thing that said War Weapons or Military weapons is translated from what our parliament wrote about this , so don’t expect supreme accuracy
also another tip and you will laugh at it but ITS NOT GELSOFT/AIRSOFT/NERF/ETC but blank firing guns, is that they could be because 99% of their mechanisms are the same
they only need a new barrel but even that’s going to be a very very hard job
I investigated some of handguns captured from the protesters and riots of 2025-2026 and other things ( note they had firearms and were armed ) and they were blank guns that were converted to 9x19mm luger and also they were falsely laser engraved symbols from great manufacturing companies like JSC kalashnikov concern , soviet red army , fake QR codes and U.S.A and etc
but guess what was the pistol ? A sur arms 9mm P.A.K ( Pistole Automatic Knall or Semi Automatic Pistol ) blank Turkish pistol))
And this is a thing that I’ve learnt and its very very stupid but when people convert blank guns , government will be afraid and scares that they now may ( stupidly ) convert gel blasters and airsoft guns and etc
Didn’t wanted to say this but one of my father’s co-worker’s mother wanted to visit Australia recently and she did buy a toy gun and when she entered Australian airport they arrested that old woman and accused her of being a terrorist for what ? only a plastic toy gun ( Idk which type but Assuming her grandson was under 12 , it may be something like uhh Chinese dart blasters or etc. ) and she was in custody for one day ! till his son-in-law came and did a brief description and etc to free her but they kept that toy…
well wanted to say these to you so you may understand at some point but anyways they aren’t related and that’s a shame

bro if you saw next day someone gets murdered by gelsoft guns , don’t get shocked
this is crazy…
I dumped a full magazine of a tg arp9 drum and the v4 version that fires 320 fps with upgrades that destroys small lizards and insects on my cousin which he was 8 at that time and there were NO BRUISE and nothing only a small red mark and a bit of bleeding but it got solved ( Do not worry , he had a big airsoft mask and also the things were fired at 5 meters with a bit of protection to the leg where i fired ) no bruises only a stingy like thing like he was being sting by a wasp but the difference was a wasp’s sting may last for a time ( a week ) but this was immediate
Imagine if I were a high ranking politician in the Australian government or no, The Iranian government and saw these . I would order these to get closed and after that sentence the authors to Disturbing public opinion which is a High crime here which makes them go to prison for 2m/2y depending or 74 whips…
Well I Dunno why people spread false things like these to justify their actions , CORRUPTED !

BOOM! Brad for the win, as I bet on right from the get go of these.
The guy has always been at the front and centre of many of gel’s legal conundrums.

Auto looking things still looking like a no, but time will tell.
A good start to things at least. And, fantastic to see that a guy who has been gelling for 16 years can continue doing his thing!

Congrats Brad!

Yep, like someone in the comments section wrote, setting precedents for import under the new laws is what we need to see.

Good to see a win for one of the retailers… bodes well. :+1:

But what if they’re made to represent a semi only replica? Kinda like how civilian versions are almost always semi only but the military can get auto versions.

Also having to have serialised numbers on each unit is retarded, that solves nothing…

If there’s an auto model of the semi model it’s a no at this stage. So an AR15 is a no because the M4.

At least there is a lot of cool pistols and shorties coming out in China atm so we at least have some hope of new things

But there’s also auto versions of pistols (Glock 19c was it?) yet they seem to be fine. Just for arguments sake.

I would like to see more shotguns, especially if they are a functional multi shot like the current GE range.
Maybe some more M1A1’s or an updated EBR would be nice that are single shot only, but I guess the real EBR is full auto anyway…
