DEFINITELY calling in the Helicopters… especially when I know that mates=beers=“hold my beer” ![]()

Nope, you can’t ride and drink alchohol on motorbikes. Water only on the camel crack. Especially the ones I do. That comes end of day. Got 2 16yo’s showing me up. Hmm grab more gears, they’re holy fuck eating dirt spitting out my back wheel. I did warn you, don’t follow too close. But damn was 40ft away and still eating dirt, stumps and rabbits.
Oh well you snooze you loose

Are we learning now young fellas
They are absolutely loving it and good healthy fun. Some of the best young lads I’ve met for a long time and their Dads.
Nothing wrong with a bit of a throwdown. Changed their mind about me being old and slow. Blew em out the water, see ya… Na they are top, helped do a bit of maintence on their bikes as they are still learning. Thoroughly enjoying it.
Rematch tomorrow. If I can walk that is. Think I’m bit too old for that lightswitch I have these days. Give others a go, holy fk you must have big bored or cammed it or something as this blows my KTM450 out the water. Nope all standard and maintained to factory specs. I get a giggle because it is a weapon. Warp 9 engage.
Sounds like you’re having a blast again, Maiphut. ![]()
Enjoy it, matey. You’ve earned it after dealing with those wooly bastards for the last couple of months. ![]()
Cheers, I am. Been missing it for a few years as my riding mates get tied up with real life stuff.
But I love it, so much better if you have a riding partner. Challenge each other a bit, have a laugh. Did you see that tree I clipped and have a giggle about it. Small bushes that won’t hurt you. Yep I just open her up a bit and went straight through it on the back wheel.
My land, I needed that one removed anyway. ![]()
Good clean fun
Good exercise. Just have to take it easy so I don’t over do it. Impressive the 250’s these days, handle way better than my old war horse. Has same horsepower and rev to the moon. But I have the 450 and torque for days. Oh yea you wanna go on your bluetooth app driven 250, whack. See ya buddy. Holy shit does that thing of yours go they say to me. Sure does. Seat belts locked, in the upright position please be seated while I hit 11krpm.
Funny, good to see a pair of young 16yo school friends getting in to it instead of sitting on the couch playing bloody playstation games and phones. Doing TAFE auto mechanic course as well. They are really good young lads, very polite and respectful. Go’s a long way with me. They are diving in to their phones, I found the maintenance manuals for their bikes. Oh right, I said here’s my torque wrench, look the NM’s up be in your manual, check that, set it and click you won’t go wrong.
Funny I had a joke with one of the lads as it’s a KTM250. Electric start only, no kick. He has to push start it as something wrong, I suspect it’s the bloody bendix starter motor has gone on it. Which Katoomys are renowned for. Check the battery, 13.7v so it’s not that. I joked, I’m getting too old to be bloody push starting bikes
Euro trash bahaha
The young lads are getting in to it, doing their oil changes, filters etc. I said you’ve got the factory manuals, if unsure check that, check it again and you’ll be right. All the info you need is at your fingertips. If in doubt, manual out, refer to factory spec drawings.
And I am at work, doing my checks on the beeps. Just at 80klm/hr on the back wheel haha yep there they are where they are meant to be. Claim that on tax next go round

Another successful throwdown. On any Sunday.
We were booking it on private property. They were giggling their heads off. Damn they were eating my roost 40ft away. I said yeah don’t follow too close mate. All sorts comes out the back my old warhorse, stumps, bushes, rabbits and rocks. Crack up got the flag go for a boog around on the Peewee80 haha I’ve got to do this more often.
Got a bit of a challenge up a big sandy hill, whack see ya boys, launched off the top. They were loving it. Holy fk that was mad was the comments. Good fun.
Clipped a stump, I was uh oh, hold it together, settle pettle. Right now go, whack.
Great conditions, weather perfect after 9mm rain yesterday bit of moisture in the sand to hook up and get drive. Front wheel didn’t want to stay on the ground. I have to change my ways and do this more often.
Mate, ya gotta stop teasing me with these awesome stories!
I’ve had to give up on my bush riding sessions with my Son and only able to pull up a chair and spectate these days…
But goodonya for showing the path to supporting these awesome young fellas who are keen AF getting into this sport.![]()
I was lucky enough to be able to enrol my young fella into the “Riding with the Disabled” programme in the nearest rural town at a young age, and is a pathway to encourage many of today’s youth towards real life learning and experiences and highly important skills.![]()
Cheers, it is great fun. The two 16yo’s were blown away and loving it. Listened to me like glue as before we started I said it’s not a race, I’ll be going steady, stumps and treacherous things that can really spoil your day. Follow me for a lap around. Awesome friends sons. They were grin from ear to ear and did extremely well. I was impressed.
I said, well we have to do this again as I was having a blast too. I said when’s the next session, oh tomorrow, oh damn got to go school
I said don’t worry give me a buzz when you get time off I will be here. Do some maintenance in meantime air filter etc can’t wait. Something to look forward to. ![]()
I spent some time and bit of advice. Maybe try one tooth bigger on front sprocket of that YZ250F as it’s a straight out MX bike and is meant for MX/SX tracks, not really bush riding. So we changed that out, said give it a try and see how it feels. Your bike set it up to suit you. As he’s not into track racing. Easy to change it back, and cheap. Yep gave me the thumbs up and loving it.
