Mp5 / mp5k

The LDT box looks to be a beauty…but I don’t know if Wat carry spares for it.

Selling out the older red advanced box…got a new model coming in…

Loose spares, might be thin on the ground…which is why they never fixed this one…

That hammer is the “precision adjuster”.!

Stop….hammertime.!!

What spares do you need for it?

Jaycar springs to mind.

Mp5 trigger is different to a normal M4 trigger.

M4 on the left, MP5 on the right.

Yes I have a couple spare.

The only other difference is the selector plates are different.

Cast ldx is a decent box. Kept to an m100 with 25rps or less, good seals, right volume ratio and an aoe pad and they last ages.
Fit in lots of things that take V2 boxes too.

As for the spring terminals… I have replaced them using springs from pens, V3 cutoff levers… etc.
Just need to cut to size and shape one end to fit… but of a stuff around but so many people just tear the upper off without compressing the terminals springs and munt them.

Good score you got there! I have been keeping an eye out for an ldt mp5sd for a while, they don’t come up often, and when they do they usually are modded and trying to fetch more than I can justify!

Do you want the shell, from this one.?

Honestly I only got it for the larger supp can( it didn’t have the smaller front one),
and the mystery prize gearbox.

You’re welcome to 5he rest, if you want it.
Mags are available, stocks are available, and I’m sure you have a box that fits.!

Free giveaway, if you want it…

My reaction to reading that was the same as Fry’s!

I don’t have a terminal plate and selector plate spare… but I reckon I could obtain them, probably with terminal springs! I do have a metal trigger and spare metal charging handle.

Making it a more fair trade if you like?

about a month - 6 weeks each. No semi, no games. Just some fun at home. Both died within a couple of days of each other … the boxes just whir when i pull the triggers. Had probably onlu used them 6 times in that 6 weeks too

Have you pulled them down, to see what’s wrong with them?

no unfortunely. i am no good inside those gearboxes. I likely add issues, not fix them

Done deal.!

Knock up some cans, then it’s “what’s supp!! “

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Thats a shame.
Out of warranty period, too.

I think it was @friendlyfire who opened his up before use…wasn’t assembled correctly from the factory.

Worth taking it to a tech, it could be a simple and cheap repair.
If not… its already not working… nothing to lose by opening it up yourself.

Lots of people here, will offer help , if you want it…

Cleaning up the can, on the parted SD.

It was showing its age… old, dirty, sticky ( giggigty) some outer layer of plastic slightly peeling off, with age.

After a wash, with just soapy water…

It discoloured quite quickly, with little provocation.
Time to go the whole hog…

Light spray with isopropyl alcohol, scrub with the short brush.
rinse and repeat.
Wash down with soapy water, then long rinse down under running water.

Let it dry.
Final dust down, to remove fine particles, with the soft vaccum attachment.

Finally 2 good coats of Dymark black.
Thanks to @Friendly_Fire for the reccommend on these, its awesome.
Let it dry, and some semi gloss lacquer.

Looks the goods…and the paint is sure to stick well, to sticky plastic…!!
Never have to worry about “tacky touch” again…!!

That is an amazing difference! Lookin’ good!

That rubbery plastic…its scary how quickly it discolours…when exposed to any chemical.

Thankfully, painting restores it,

Dymark goes on well…it doesn’t spit and splatter blobs, like rustoleum does at times.

The semi gloss lacquer dulls the sheen…makes it look Not ‘brand new, just out of the factory…’

kinda hopping iHobby part out some of their units and spare boxes come up for sale. These havent been out that long i dont think. I’ll get to them at some point and if a replacement box is available, then im happy enough to swap that in.

i cant find the exact spray i used, but it was something like this - works a treat to cure “plastics” and goes on transparent … test of course!!

An alternative to paint maybe …

Are we talking about the JM MP5K here?

Very simple V2 gearbox in them, don’t be scared to crack it open. :+1:

There were a lot of factory faults in the two that I tore down… mine and Beemers. Mine in particular was glaringly bad. The sector gear was missing the top spacer bush which meant it had about 5mm of endfloat… not good. :joy:

hmm … so when you say V2, do you mean a standard one? i could get an aftermarket model that would swap straight in?
