This is Jen, a Staffy/Weimaraner Cross I got off the breeder as was going to be put down when she was only a year and a half old … long story and involves me getting her off the father (the breeder) of an 18 year old girl who died in a motorcycle accident and he inherited his puppy Dog back but couldn’t find a home for her.
She was young and neglected/untrained by the 18 year old daughter, which is why nobody wanted her, but I took her on and she got to spend 2 years with my old Ridgebacks learning the ropes before they passed away, and took me quite some time training her to become a bloody good dog
She’s 10 year old now, and have just gotten her back from another friend that was looking after her whilst I was “away”.
Unfortunately she’s been spoilt rotten underworked and overfed, along with being couped up in a small Unit Complex courtyard with very little exercise for the past couple of years… so I got a lot of work on my hands getting her back into shape and refreshing the training I’d given her.
Looking a bit tubby laying down in that pic, but she’s not really too bad weight wise as can still see her back ribs
She’s happy to be back with Dad again!
when did it come a pets thread?
That’s cool gone to a good home.
My farm friends I’ve been getting when they breed, stick to Kelpies for the sheep work. Have to give away for free as we are allowed to breed without paying the exorbitant price to become a registered breeder because of all the battery breeding scamming and get rich quick gumtree/facebook crap. As long as we make no money off it’s allowed for us to breed our own for work. Registered through that shithouse website Dog’s and Cats online that’s offline a lot Cat too.
Lilly is a real good mouser of the houser when she’s not snoring it’s head off. Does real good at that. Catches a Rabbit too and drops it off on the back doorstep when I come home. Oh cool cooked me dinner, awesome
I had to do 80klm/hr one day through my bumpy paddock as Mojo leapt off the back of the FJ and saw a Roo 800m away. He got it and by time I caught up he shredded it and thought was great he was covered head to toe in blood. I had to have a lil talk to him, settle you’ll have a heart attack.
Mojo is great with humans and kids so was a first time, and the last time. Worried me a bit. But he’s been fine years later after I had a talk to him. Not in my wheelhouse young man.
Mojo sounds like a bloody awe houndog
We have the same “non registered breeder” thing here in town where awesome quality sheep dogs are traded between farmers for the best quality working dogs imaginable
The mate I’m staying with currently had a great bloodline sheepdog he called BOOF, coming from a multiple award winning breeder who fly’s his dogs all over Australia and New Zealand to take out top Blue Ribbon Awards everywhere he goes… even taking 3 of them to the USA a few years back at insane costs to compete/show them
I’ve no idea what information is available online in regards to this highly respected competitive breeder/dog scene… all I know is that he’s a great mate of mine and his name is Dave Lacey.
He’s since left Waroona and him and his wife have moved back over East to be closer to the breeding market and the many regular competitions that are held in that industry.
Just did a quick Google search and this was one of many videos that came up, haven’t watched it yet or looked at any other search results… but this is the mate I’m talking about
And yeah, he’s a pretty loud rough bastard in his day to day character the same as he speaks to his dogs!
Can always hear when Dave’s at the pub having a beer from halfway across town
That’s cool, I like going to the local farm fair and they have sheep dog trials on I usually watch it’s amazing what they get them so trained. He’s likely been here but don’t recognize the name they come from all local and interstate. Great show.
Learn too, I’ve been to a lot of different farmers working for them and it is crap some places they don’t spend time working their Dog and leave it locked in a cage for weeks on end then yell and scream at it when it won’t round the sheep up for you.
You can’t do that, you can’t belt them they don’t understand. Simple one word commands works best and do it minimum weekly. Short whistle. Come, sit, go back. They don’t understand a full essay of swearwords. I’ve seen some and just shake my head… hang on might need the dictionary first
Yeah Dave and his wife Vicki live and breathe these dogs.
You might not remember the name, but you can never forget Dave’s voice!
Live on large properties with many paddocks full of sheep and work/run/training these dogs daily.
Their pups are worth more than any vehicle I’ve ever owned, but the reputation of the breed Nationally and Internationally obviously commands such high prices considering this is their whole life work and only income for them.
Likely goes to the big yearly Auction for working dogs in the eastern states, Nationwide hmm that’s it Casterton is the place.
One idiot spent $12k on a beautiful kelpie. Yelled and screamed at it then mistakenly ran over it with his ute. I won’t go back working on that ones farm for a good 10 years now. No way.
Note: don’t get stuff from WA. Mail times and auspost is shit hehe.
Only cos your in New Suck Wales. That’s your problem I get parts overnight from Dubbyay Via Aupost so ner
Then I just have bad luck. I impart my bad luck to you!
Why what you trying to get and from who?
Some patience might work too
Beauty of being piggy in the middle everythings the same distance away couple thousand K’s and no floods some fires but that’s normal
I bought a used vr headset from some op shop seller on ebay. I only really want it for the lenses, the rest gets scrapped.
So yes I paid $50 just for the lenses.
If it’s via ground it’ll have to come via truck or the rail link to near me which they do very often.
If postage was free it’d be on the slowest option.
It was $19 for shipping. The $50 was including the $19 for shipping.
Express? Got tracking number?
Reg parcel post. Latest update is from Feb 24.
yea coming via linehaul Truck , take a few days, fair trip. Registered parcel post is not express and the poverty post. Express is usually the same or slightly more, go via air.
Sometimes it’s the seller too, they mark it as sent and lodged it with mail company but haven’t got off their ass and gone to the post office to actually send it.
Did my dm go through?
