One handed quick release grenade pouch

Hey all,

Have been mucking around with different ways to quickly deploy a grenade one handed, the idea being that the grenade is somehow attached on my right hand side, when needed I can hold the blaster with my left and grab the grenade and quickly throw with my right. Only catch is I need a system where the pin is pulled at the same time that the grenade is retrieved from its holder.

To begin with I attached the pin to my belt so that I could just grab the grenade and pull it from the belt leaving the pin attached, but that meant the grenade was bouncing around on the belt when running.

Second attempt was a small pouch attached to the right hand of my belt, the pin is cable tied to the inside of the pouch and I reach in and grab it, pulling the grenade but leaving the pin behind. This also didn’t work because the grenade bounced around when moving, often dislodging the pin causing me to kill myself

Next I tried the pouch system again but with a retractable key chain holder attached to the pin, again with limited success

Wondered if anyone has come up with a one handed grenade deploy system? Or has any good ideas?

What sort of made are you working with here? Pics will help.
First thing that comes to my mind is similar to your first attempt but with a molle nade holder to stop it from bouncing around but the pin is tied to it.

This is the type

Use your teeth

You can paracord them so as you deploy they rip the pin but you have to set your kit up for that so you don’t blow your face off. Many people have fked that up and deployed on themselves hopping over fences so it is not recommended at all.

Hands on all times…

Think I’ve seen files for a pineapple grenade holder , they go on molle and just clamp around them, you gotta kinda pull them up and forward to get them out from memory and you then just tie the pin somewhere so when you pull them off it yanks the pin out too.

Will have a look tomorrow if I get time before work.

I’d be a little too worried about bending the pins too much and breaking them. Easy enough to bend up another though, I guess. :man_shrugging:

As Maiphut suggest, go all gung ho and use your teeth.

Just don’t end up like this guy

But I guess I’m not qualified to comment… I just attach my grenades semi-permanently to my chest rig by the safety lever, they never come off, intentionally or accidentally. Purely aesthetic.

But damn… they do look cool. :+1:

Having a quick look I’m not seeing any holders for that style of made, mostly smoke/flashbang and those thunder (co²) nades unfortunately.

Yours are the spring loaded ones yeah?

You might be on to something there. I could replace the “ring” on the pin with some kind of plastic disk, making it safe to pull with your teeth :+1: I don’t need another reason to visit a dentist/doctor/physio/optometrist

A generic grenade pouch would do the job for holding it.

Thanks for looking, I did find this online after your suggestion but they’re relatively expensive and don’t fit this type of grenade.

Yes spring loaded

The thing with using your teeth to pull the pin isn’t necessarily the ring but the amount of force it takes to actually remove the pin, more so on a real one than a toy naturally, for obvious reasons they’re very stiff to pull out.

Alternatively you could replace the pin assembly itself with maybe a bit of straight filament or something similar and bend it on one side so it’s loose and less taxing on your fangs but also won’t fall out on its own, if that made sense.

If I were to get my hands on one of those nades I could probably do up a clamp for one.

Gave it a test yank with my teeth and it was fine, that grenade has seen allot of action so the hole where the pin goes is now like sleeve of wizard.

I reckon a holster/carrier with something that retains the pin is still the way to go. When you say do up a clamp, are you talking 3D print?

Yeah, I could model one and print it.

Loving the BORAT reference, got me giggling!

Guess I need to watch more of that joker. Not today :+1:

haha yep, not sure why that came to me in that moment, I could have also said inserting the pin into this grenade is like throwing a salami down a hallway

haha now that’s the spirit. Got a good chuckle out of that one, you win  :+1:

"“Wizards Sleeve” is so much more modern and relevant for those in the know! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
