Resident Evil Gelblasters...( or, Gotta Getta Beretta..!)

I can assure you, still at work…

Just had a bit of leave, is all…

Retirement, i wish…

We use ipads at work, so can check the internet, on turnarounds…

Also…

Capcom made “1942”, the arcade game…! in 1984…!!

Kinda funny when you think about it…

Capcom, a japanese games company, making a shooting game, about shooting down japanese fighters, in the pacific, during ww2…!!

Don’t mention the war…!!!

And, it ends with them surrendering…!!
At least no nuke was used…!!

Here is the longplay, if you’ve never seen the whole game / ending…

Careful what you wish for…

Retirement ain’t all it’s cracked up to be when you’re used to working hard all your life.

My old man retired last year… still works full time!
He couldn’t help himself!

Yeah, finding ways to keep yourself occupied is tricky. Hate being idle, I’m so used to problem solving and making pieces of engineering up from scratch.

A full workshop with a lathe, milling machine, MIG welder, grinders, etc. would be good, I could make just about anything being an old school fitter/machinist/toolmaker. :person_shrugging:

That was always my retirement plan but life has a habit of chucking shit up to make you change that plan.

My wife was in hospital with our second child when this came out. I used to spend the time between work and visiting hours playing this in the arcade. The kids used to get really pee’d off because this “old guy” had the top scores.

Got made redundant in 2012 (engineered a payout). The first few years were OK as I had three cars to restore and an extensive collection of diecast model cars and denix to sell. Then gelball arrived and I had another focus. Not sure what is next.

Climbing the corporate ladder without equity might provide satisfaction while it is happening but it doesn’t provide a long term future. When it ends in retirement you find yourself sitting on your hands feeling empty

Changing to another form of business with commitments, customer expectations and inherent discipline is far better than retirement, particularly if the business embodies something that you love doing.

One of my family is a multi-licenced LAME that managed the flight line maintenance in Sydney for Qantas (started as an apprentice). He retired when they told him that he had to have the jab to stay at work. He has a mill, a lathe, and all the stuff you need for a good machine shop. Currently has a backlog of small engineering jobs that keep flowing in from around his property in rural NSW. Busier in retirement than he was when working and none of the corporate b/s or imported engineers trying to prove they know more than an tech with 40 years experience

That’s the way. :+1:

A good self-sufficient engineer will always find work in the rural sector.

That’s a good bit of information to know, as 1942 was my absolute favourite game at the time, due to my extensive interest and knowledge in EVERYTHING Aircraft related since WW1!

I had all of the WW1 era “Biggles” books, along with everything that the Australian Navy Author
J.E. Macdonnell ever released in paperback, mainly due to my grandfathers service in the RAN from pre WW1 through to 1952 before retiring.

Certainly is quite the shock thinking a Japanese company creating a game that glorifies the killing of Japanese airmen!:flushed:

Thanks for that Video mate, bringing back good old memories of the turn and burn whilst dodging hot rocks as we used to say!

I only ever got as far as advancing to getting the “wingman” aircraft, but would always lose them and myself shortly after.:slightly_frowning_face:

Gotta lotta levels…

Make sure you spend those 20cents, on continues…!!

Do you know how many 20c coins I burned finishing that one when I was 9yo. Had to hit the pizza bar up and school sucked more 1942 required  :+1:

hmm you talking about your mate, got news sunday 82nd airborne are stood down. You don’t send the cream of the crop in to a bloodbath. Couple thousand with logistics turns in to several thousand.

Very bad move if it tried it. Should of read some of the comments, not sure but a CIC had much to say against it. Much like the CIC of the Gerald R Ford 1st in class supercarrier. The dunny blocked up and caught on fire, took 30hrs to put out   CIC warned against it overextending deployments but went anyway. Oh bugger dumps toy broke.
rofl

Ok…

So, i look at that…

And i start to think…

And, lets not forget a Beretta M1934…
