Resident Evil REVO3...(or, Scorpion Evo 3 mash-up)

havent had it apart yet…
And you just talked me out of it, for now…!!

I’m just more keen to get it back together, and see how it looks…

All morning in the sun…thin layers of tamiya, its chalkly to the touch…

i might shoot some clear coat on it, in a couple more hours , and put it back together…!!

i haven’t even fired a gel thru it yet…!!

The young fellas hk416

I was thinking that as soon as I seen it, hmm that looks familiar :joy:

Beemers got more experience pulling gearboxes apart so he shouldn’t struggle too much with it, I’ll find my pics to reference, I literally pulled it apart and reassembled around 15 times before it came together properly, still need to upgrade the barrel to a metal one

just need to make sure everything is lined up properly

definitely take your own pics as you go step by step as it can be a little tricky, at least it was for me at first

Don’t stress too much @BME

If I can get there in the end and running properly you won’t find it too difficultusy

i will…

just not today…

Soon T.M. …!!

im not really all that experienced with gearboxes.
probably pulled about 10 or so apart, by myself.

And, basic ones at that…still a bit stressful…til its back together banging…!
All a learning experience…

Well this one will take you back to basics as it’s a way older style gearbox to what’s around now, if you can figure out gen 8 etc then you shouldn’t have much issue here

I havnt even opened up a gen 8 yet, Ive only done that LH hk416 and the Hanke m97 so far, you’re way ahead of me mate lol

Confidence is key :old_key:

Gen 8s are actually a whole lot easier to work on than these. By comparison, these are tricky. If you worked out one of these gearboxes, you’d romp in a Gen 8.

Gen 8s having a separate motor cage, and microswitch trigger ( no trigger trolley like a V2 ) make them very newbie friendly.

Easy to see why these boxes are so wheezy… look at that HUGE 370 motor. I actually modified a motorcage and wedged a 460 short motor in one of my previous EVOs… not a success. But it does make me wonder how these would go with a 370 brushless in them. Might take the wheeze out of them. :person_shrugging:

Dammit…!!

That moment…

you finally get it all together and working… semi / safe / auto behaving…
then…

you realise the muzzle end is internally mounted…!!

Time to pull it apart again.!!

Still its there, its green, it alive…!!

You can get that in by just removing the front four or five screws and flexing the shell apart, don’tchyaknow?

Easy to forget that bit though… luckily easy to pop it back in. :+1:

Quick tip… swap out the acrylic barel for an alloy one next time you’re in there. No biggie, but it pays to plan ahead with these ABS blasters and not have those screws in and out of that soft shell any more times than you absolutely need to. They strip easily.

Okay…!!
Done… For now…!

where my zombies at.?.?!

And for my next trick…!!

Thoughts…

If anything, its almost too new, too clean…

maybe a light dust of Smoke, to break it up a bit, and simulate some wear.
Blacks, not sure about them…this was a trial.
Blacks are easy to remove and change…

Mag / grips / stock end all come off easily.

For now, i might actually fire it, and see how it goes…!!

Looks pretty good with that triangle foregrip on it. :+1:

I always liked grey urban camo on these too…

Might try to replicate that on the next EVO build.

That looks awesome as now, makes me want to look at repainting a couple of mine in the future…

Tried it once with a nerf blaster, forgot where everything went, probably ended up in the bin

Wouldn’t be letting that happen next time :joy:

But yeah that looks awesome in green and black, if you seen that at a field you’d think it came that way for sure if you didn’t know any better…

Top effort :+1:t2:

Okay, a bit more info…

got it firing…not stellar standard. 200 fps.

thats to be expected from a early gen nylon…weak spring…tired oring.

@Friendly_Fire what did yours do standard.? is this a bit low.?
I suspect a dried up old o-ring…

Long term, maybe a whole box upgrade…
short term… pull apart when i have some more time.

The Tamiya Smoke makes a difference…hazy lacquer with some small spots, gets rid of the " super clean, brand new paint", and makes it look a bit aged.

Good effect. ( ihave gotten rid, of the one black spot…old spitting, near empty can)

with this kit…

slight problem.

Its 3 parts… mag guard , Lower triangle, and upper front.

The mag guard and triangle should be fine, but the upper front is designed for airsoft.

You can pull the whole front section off and replace it…cant with a 1 piece shell.

Still, the mag guard and triangle beef it up, and should fit.
I’ll order it from Hero…

The rear stock , is a whole different story…

Yep, pretty much.

iHobby’s had those EVOs sitting in boxes on the shelf for quite a few years, so that’ll be it… spring sag and o ring. My first one out of the box was doing around 250FPS, similar to the stock Gen 8s at the time and what Vas demonstrated in his initial review. A spring change and a fresh o ring on yours should get it back up there, but they aren’t the nicest boxes to play around with… you won’t enjoy the process.

But if it’s only intended to be a visual prop I wouldn’t bother… It looks great and it’s not like you’re really ever going to use it in anger. :person_shrugging:

Just enjoy the form factor and trick it up aesthetically. Unless you attempt a box swap these EVOs are a bit of a dinosaur.

The holy grail would be an ASG EVO 3 airsoft shell with a modified V2 in it… solid polymer build and everything does what it should just like the real thing…but we all know that ain’t never going to happen now.

Keep in mind too that Hero body kit will be designed to fit the ASG airsoft EVO… you might find it’s not compatible with the Le Hui iteration. :person_shrugging:

its worth a try…

being a pic rail, the lower triangle and handguard should go on.

Something my old man always used to say to me growing up …

“No such thing as can’t, just means that your not trying hard enough”!

so… you cant live forever.?.?

yeah, you could cut thge ABS shell back, and try to jerry rig some way to make it fit… A-La airsoft…

but… not worth it.

The main feature, of the upper guard, is the “upcurling barrel tip end”

You could 3d print something similar, and attach it…simples…!!

Comparo…stock vs painted…

Quite the difference.

I’ll leave this here, for my future reference…

PAINT: primed, Tamiya TS61 NATO green, Light coat TS-71 SMOKE.
Black bits : Tamiya TS-29 Semigloss black, light TS-80 flat clear.

I over-did it with the smoke, got it “too deisely”, so did a quick tape up and respray over, to cover it again…!!

Now…onto the stock…

So, the folding stock…
To keep it game accurate, i wanna try the MP-5 folding stock…

Two problems… getting one, and making it fit.
Lehui built their posts " backwards"…MP5 stock wont fit standard.

On the Lehui stock, it has two posts, upper and lower.
The rear butt plate has one central post.

The MP5 has the reverse orientation…hence, mp5 stock wont fit onto Lehui butt ( central post vs central post.)

So, its gotta be…Mp5 stock, MP5 butt plate made to fit…

Will it fit…??
Yes it will.

However, not without lotsa mods.
The above photo shows as far as it will go on now.

The "front excess " of the MP5 Butt plate needs to be cut off, to allow it to move forward. Hence, @Maiphut 's grinder…!!

Then , when the lower holes align, a top hole will need to be drilled in, to permit a bolt to go through.

Then , the hole of the MP5 Buttplate is larger than the lehui hole, so some padding required.

Also worth noting, that the original 2 lehui screws help hold it together, so its gotta be tight.

So, a bit of a project…
