Show Us Your Shortie M4s

Yep, it’s been editted… because the M4 CQB’s changed again.

This is about as short as I can get an M4 and still keep it worth pulling the trigger.

Parts bin M4, CYMA metal box, chopped Noveske handguard. Xm177 moderator hiding a hopup, M4 buttstock, Aimpiont clone red dot, Inner barrel’s pretty short with the hopup finishing about halfway up the moderator vents so only hitting just over 230FPS as is with an M90 spring. Good enough for CQB and accurate.

Maybe slated for three teeth off the sector, cylinder porting, substantial spring upgrade, maybe M120 / M130, AOE correction / piston cushioning, should up the power a bit. I’ll be happy with 260ish.

Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures of it, but built up a shortie M4 Gen8 that I forward wired and ran a PEQ Battery Box so I could run it sans Buttstock that ran an 110mm barrel… which was sorta restricted to what handguards were available at the time.

Was a fun little Machine Pistol basically and VERY short without any Stock fitted, but with the advantage of a decent sized Magazine capacity.:+1:

Ran around 230 FPS for memory.

Nice. Everyones going to laugh but here’s my $90 Nylon Wells CQB.

Alloy head, 7.5mm brl, 1.18mm AG, o ring. Original gearbox. It’s done over 1.5M gel balls and still keeps soldering on with minimal maintence.

Changed a few asthetics to tickle my fancy, iron sights, stock, hop up, etc. 290fps all day fed by drum mags, stick mags too.

Nope… no laughing here. good looking little unit. :+1:

It ain’t about the brand or brand reputation. If you built that up and it’s lasted as long as it has then it’s a good’un… period.

Just the bad rap the wells get. Back in the day they were a budget blaster that worked great after a bit of bench time if you are up for it. Less than my LH Steyr AUG, and a lot less than my pre production AK74L. Was a test model to give feedback to the manufacturer after it got tested by a forum member.

Spent 2 whole days straightening the AK74L out, the metal front end was not straight, front sight was uts, despringed and re oringed it. Re did the magazine well was UTS as I could see what the problem was and why it was misfeeding. The bloody magwell extension shit was not allowing the mag to lock in the correct place. Grinder out and sorted that out. Bingo, now we are on. In the bin you go with that mag thing.

Now the AK is rocksolid 300fps all day and very accurate. When you go winchester it weighs 4.5KG just dong em on the head with it   :+1:

What mag have you got in yours @Friendly_Fire I like the og look of that :+1: I do have a full size M16A1 ish that is V2 and takes G8/9 Mags.

It’s sort of short, my SLONG gearbox wells junkyard bitsa. The hopup sits about 2 inches back from the end of the suppressor so it could be shorter, just need a shorter suppressor or outer barrel, that was the plan but the thing shoots so well I can’t bring myself to change it!

Good looking unit. :+1: I get it, why change it if it’s working so well?

That’s a CYMA stanag hanging out of mine. Shitty, I know… but it’s not a high ROF blaster so the CYMA keeps up… no misfeeds.

I took the birdcage flash hider off it and put on an XM177 moderator. Lets me use a barrel about 140mm long and allows an 11mm hopup.

Gained about 20 or so FPS out of the longer inner. :+1:

Nice, sometimes I go for looks over functionality, depending on what you got.

I hover around the high 200 fps range for me, more accurate and I don’t hurt my friends too much as that is something I don’t want to do.

I got done point blank one day straight in the mouth. Right reload drum mag, you don’t want to get in my AO when that wells starts humming from 40M away. Made grown men cry  :+1: I said well don’t point blank me in the mouth. Fkn smarted too. He learnt his lesson LOL

Ouch! :flushed:

Or I do this haha. I think you got too much botox there matey.

This one’s bought not built. Little SLR ION 4.25" model.

Has a few bits in it from AKgelblasterau. And a hopup printed by Rok. Does about 290 FPS with a 7.3mm barrel and weighs bugger all

Yeah I like that… :+1:

Thinking about a PDW style stock for my M4.

You could do the strike industries knock off from cybertrigger but it’s a $115.

I’ve got my shitty wells one you can have but it needs the molds in the receiver. Wobbly as fk. Why I fkd it off and changed it to what I use normally.

The PDW stock I have does not have the buffer tube. I can give it a good throw see if it lands your place but is honestly not worth the postage. It is shit.

Yeah… maybe don’t worry about it then. I wouldn’t want you to pull a hammie winding up for the big pitch.

X-Force used to sell XM PDW stocks pretty cheap, if I’m remembering correctly. I’ll come up with something.

Appreciate the offer though, as usual. :+1:

Like this one?

Pity shows out of stock, $60

Ah my bad be the T01 methinks.

$50 also out of stock.

Hmm iHobby have them by the looks. XM-T01 Stock Gel Blaster Stock (Colour: Black) - iHobby Online

Down the rabbit hole you go  :+1:

That’s the one alright. :+1:

Roll on payday!

Pretty certain I have a few different types of those in my collection, but you know me, could take 3 months before I dig through all the boxes to find one to send!:rofl:

I’ve got a front end loader. That might help speed things up

@DocBob

The way things are going with the import laws these days, that stockpile of parts you’re sitting on just might end up turning into a goldmine for you, Doc. :person_shrugging:

I certainly hope it doesn’t head down that path permanently mate.

Yeah plenty of weird and wonderful stuff packed away, but the majority of it is back from the old era that I had in stock when the bans hit in mid 2021.

So obviously everything was for whatever multiple different models were available leading up to that era.

That’s perfect if people are looking to keep their favourite old Workhorses running, but not much in the way of modern stuff like brushless motors or higher tech ETU’s and whatever other newer upgrades or new models that have been invented since.

At least there’s still a lot of compatible stuff like handguards, sights, buttstocks, gearbox shells, flash hiders, suppressors, tracer units, magazines and many other random small parts and accessories.:+1:

Definitely not a Goldmine though, as I much prefer to give stuff away if I can help someone keep their old favourites up and running!:ok_hand:
