My neighbour bought a 65inch Kogan tv, for $500.
That is definitely in the "throw away"category…but its still working after 4 yrs.
They would not even carry parts for it, no intention for it ever to be worked on.
TV repair people would be a dying breed…tv’s that are designed to be thrown away, with fewer parts available. High end models should be servicable, though.
This dudes coming out today, so i’ll roll the dice, and see what happens.
$180 for a pullapart / diagnosis…hopefully its a cheap and simple fix like a blown power supply.
Its worth gambling a couple of hundred dollars, to get a higher end tv going again…even if it only lasts a couple of years longer.
Moral of the story , if it needs replacing.?.?
Dont go high end…thinking it will last.
It wont.
Hisense make good mid quality / higher end gear.
mum has a 100 inch hisense… 3yr warranty, and $4000.
Great picture quality / local dimming / decent factory warranty and good pricepoint.
She uses it, and enjoys it, every day.
If this one turns to crap, i’ll go a $1500 75inch hisense…3yr warranty.
If it lasts 4 yrs, thats $400 a year, so a reasonable return.
Kogan make a Mini-led 75 incher for $1000…but only a 1 yr warranty.
My 1982 orange donkey kong nintendo game and watch is still running perfectly…

Serious japanese electronics, right there…!!
