I’m not sure how a working visa goes in Australia but those big arse wineries rely on the backpackers. All of a sudden you need a 100 people, where the fk you going to get them from. Labour hire companies might find a couple I used to deal with them in ROH days. They need labour. Fruit pickers. They should be sub contract, so the payee pays even if cash be gst on top. But europeans that come here and I’ve seen them they likely don’t understand our system.
I highly doubt the nearly broke biggest wineries in Australia and I’ve seen them have run a wrought throught the ato.

Thing is I call them backpackers which a lot of the australian food growing industry relies on, they get a working Visa. Not sure of the details but I’ve met heaps of them they are ok until they go like doitchland pay day and get off their rocker but I digress. Working holiday for them.
When thing go good season wise we can’t get enough labourers , machine operators. What are you going to pay for a grape vine picker to stand around for 5 yrs and do nothing until it comes good, I don’t think so.
Read very carefully, I sub contract out to other farmers but I am GST registered which the grapepickers are likely not(which you do not have to be under a certain amount) being on working Visa’s. That was or used to be apart of a working Visa you didn’t worry about that. The owner of the place has like I do pay more public insurance to the fkn gov in case they injure themselves and I also have an insurance policy I pay extraordinary amounts for my workers I employ. So both ends covered.
Award rates in Australia are easy to look up and I pay above award for anyone that works for me as they do a good job. Are fully covered.
